On Earth Day, we’re totally for helping out our home planet, but we also can’t forget about the things that happened to our own country. Mother Nature sure can be vicious at times and no one knows that more than Louisiana.
This summer marks the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and its devastating effects on New Orleans. Although there has been some relief in the area, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. That’s where the
People to People Ambassador Programs come into play.
Angela W. Daliet, Founder & Executive Director of Save Our Schools, one of the five local charity organizations visitors can donate to by going to remembernola.com, and young girl during a “School Fair” to provide schooling information for parents in New Orleans. The little girl’s mom had just moved back from Katrina and was having difficulty finding a school in the area.
This awesome program came up with new aid for the area called the “Leadership Summit: Remembering Hurricane Katrina.” The program, running from June 28 to July 6, sends kids from grades five through 12 out to the areas of New Orleans that still need to be fixed up, with community service efforts that will shed light on the city’s rebuilding efforts.
