My boyfriend and I were holding hands at an assembly. We barely ever see each other because my mom's really strict and we have no classes together, so I feel like it's the only time we can be together. We got caught and the dean of my school yelled at us. I’m so scared he’s going to hate me forever. Now every time I look at him, I get really mad. What can I do to help this situation?

I’m sorry to hear you got yelled at for holding hands, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It can easily be fixed, promise.

I’m sure the dean doesn’t hate you for holding hands with your BF. He has no reason to! He’s been a teenager too, so he knows how it is I’m sure. If you’re really worried about him hating you, write him a note, or make a trip to his office and talk to him. Maybe you could even explain your circumstances and also make any apologies that might be in order.

Try talking to your mom about spending time with your boy. Maybe if you just invite him over for dinner or a game night with your family (though it might be a little embarrassing), they can meet him and spend some time with him too. This way, she’ll hopefully realize how great of a guy he is and let you hang out with him more. It’s worth a try!
