Help! I Need a Golden Glow

I’m so tired of having pale, winter skin. I need to know what the best tan lotions are that make you look bronze, without reapplying all the time. What are the best products?
 
Go you for wanting to go the fake bake route. We’ve rounded up a few of our fave, easy-to-use tan-in-a-can goodies. Here are the best ways to get a glow at home.
 
Exfoliating before applying a self-tanner is a rule that most people don’t follow, which leads to uneven tans (ew, streaks!). We love this two-in-one, which buffs and bronzes at the same time. Hello, multi-tasking.
 


Getting a spray tan at a salon can be expensive, so try an at-home spray bottle that will last for a bunch of uses. We swear by bottles of Fake Bake. It’s pricier than drugstore varieties, but  it’ll give ya  a rich  just-back-from-vacay hue.

If your skin is very fair, gradually building tan is the way to go. Slather on a glow lotion, instead of your normal moisturizer. Perf—and way cinchy.  Don’t forget thet sunscreen!

Hey girl, 1) Not too tan. Honestly, the best way to get tan fast is a bronzer lotion. Yeah, it may be a fake tan, but it's fast, requires no sun and your skin will thank you later. 2) You can use lemon or spray in to get natural highlights. Just hanging outside can bring them out too. 3) Pick up lines are ultimately way cheesy. The best way to pick up a guy is to be friendly, complimentary and yourself.

Ok, so I straighten my hair almost everyday, because I look my
absolute BEST when my hair is straight!
But I know the heat really hurts your hair, but I really hate my hair otherwise!
Any tips on how to get awesome hair with out hurting it?

Hey girlie, put it back into a bun sometimes so that you don't have the heat everyday. Dove and other hair product companies make shampoo and conditioner that help protect your hair from the heat so that you can still straighten it most days.

Frown all i can do with it is leave it down or put it in a pony tail! i love crinkles like how you hair looks after u take it out of a braid. how can i make all my hair crinkly? Hey! Sorry, but not really. Hair removal gadgets and creams exist but I've never used them. I feel like if they worked as well as waxing or plucking, then why wouldn't everyone use them? But you can give Nair face cream or Nair sensitive face cream a try if you're still curious.

Hey girl, the best way to look good in pictures is to just relax and smile naturally. Be yourself. As for self-confidence, it's all about a positive mindset. Counter any negativity with positive remarks. Say you are beautiful when you're in doubt and you will believe it with time. As for cute make-up and clothes ideas? That all takes time. I'd suggest looking through magazines like GL for inspiration. Is there any look or celeb that really speaks out to you? Mimic it.

hey, ok, so.. i went to the beach a few days back, and i forgot to carry sunscreen!! now i am all tan and i want to be fair again.. i cannot use any sort of facewash or home remedies because i am not allwed yet. how can i get my fairness back?? i don't think that the tan looks good on me and so do my friends.. please help!!

Your lucky you didn't get burnt! Usually girls with fair skin are at a higher risk of getting sunburnt.  Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to get rid of a tan.  Try exfoliating in the shower, although it won't literally scrub away your tan, it could remove some of the skin cells, bringing your skin closer to it's original color.  Always remember to bring sunscreen with you if you know you will be spending a day in the sun!

Now that it's summer I want to change up my makeup routine so that it won't melt off in the heat and be so thick. What are some makeup products that I can use to still even out my face and give some definition to my eyes with out it being so think, melts off in the heat, or wash off in the pool?

As for evening out your skin tone, tinted moisturizers are great.  They have just a little bit of color and usually have SPF in them.  You can also try putting finishing powder over your normal makeup to help your skin absorb it and it will be harder to smear/wipe/sweat off.  When it comes to your eyes, try just a thin swipe of waterproof eyeliner and a coat of waterproof mascara.  You could also carry around makeup remover and a small touch-up kit so that you can quickly fix your makeup when the weather starts to take its toll.

Ok,wether i'm at the beach, in the pool, or just in the backyard, I'm ALWAYS on the move, sweating, or getting wet. My problem? Most sunscreens just don't do it for me! I usually get sunburned if I use something good like SPF 20! (Because spf like 50 doesn't work as good as they say).
Any good cheap screens' i can use? I was thinking a spray on one, the creams are too messy and annoying and sticky, and , iglh.

Hey, I'm going to Florida this summer (next Friday actually!) and I'm excited. We're going for 8 days, and we're going on a cruise and when it's done, Disney World (1st time ever!) Can you please give me a few tips on:
-what to do on the long flight there
-some basic essentials I should pack (besides clothes and bras and stuff, I already have that down!)
-maybe some tips for all the bugs which will be attacking me, if you can. If you can't don't worry about it.

You could bring a book, watch videos on an ipod if you have one, or something silly like Madlibs. As for bug spray, avoid anything that is combined with sunscreen. Bugs are worse usually after the time that you will need to be protecting your skin from the sun so stick to something like Cutter Backwoods Unscented (apparently it is less sticky and the smell is not as bad as typical sprays). As for sunscreen, I recently saw on the news that Aveeno Spf 50 spray is one of the best brands after testing. Make sure you reapply about every two hours to avoid sun damage. Chapstick that has spf helps too because your lips can burn even though it is a weird thing to think about. I typically like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock for my face because I feel like it is not as greasy as other brands. For the frizz I think that herbal essences and sunsilk have pretty good solutions. You could also use smoothing milk for frizz and lots of different brands make versions of that. Have lots of fun! Disney world is a blast.

I have TMJ (it stands for something REALLY long... I don't remember), and basically it's where your jaw clicks and locks and pops, and you have pain in your jaw.
The ortho said I had it last year. She said I had the third worst jaw/teeth (I sucked my thumb a long time) she'd seen in about 20 years Frown So I started this 'step by step' program they had for me. They said I'll have to have braces for 7 years!
I got them in 4th grade, it's the end of 5th now, so I've had them for a while.
My problem is, people always point out my braces (and if I have anything else in my mouth, which I usually do) and it's annoying.
How can I get people to not notice them as much?




Hey Girl, I'm sorry to hear that but it's good that you're getting it fixed. I don't think you can do anything to have people not notice but I think you can change your reaction when people question you about it could change. Become more confident think to yourself "who cares if I have braces!??!!" It's honestly that big of a deal especially sense you know when you get them taken off they're going to look gorgeous. Don't let those questions intimidate you or make you feel self-conscious. Good Luck!

At what age should you be worried if you haven't gotten your period yet? Some of my friends said that if you don't start your period by the time you turn 14, you should see your doctor. Is that correct? If not, what age is it? p.s. I'm 13 and haven't started yet. Thanks in advance! Smile




You should definitely not be worried. Girls' bodies develop differently which means everyone gets their period at different times. Many people don't get it until they are 17 or 18 so don't worry.

Hey girl! You could use some blue/green eyeshadow (but don't overdo it) to accentuate your eyes and your outfit. For nailpolish, you can totally do blue as well ... teal and turquoise are very in nailpolish shades right now! You can also do something different with your hair - wear a headband, curl it, put it half up, half down. Hope that helps!

I need help, pronto!! Last night I put on a selfo-tanner and woke up with some streaks on my legs! I exfoliated first and made sure I spread it evenly, but I still got them. Any tricks to get rid of them? And what are some ways to prevent them in the future?




Hey Girl, oh man don't worry I think I may have some tricks that will help you. While exfoliating using a cloth or a sponge may be the best answer; you could also mix damp baking soda on your cloth and rub the streak marks. Other solutions include rubbing alcohol or actually buying this chemical that is purposefully created to remove streaks. I wish you the best of luck!

I am crazy pale because I have very light skin but instead of being pink-ish I look more yellow thanks to my mom's eastern european family so i'm even paler than normal pale people! I suggest you look online to get reviews of different face products. There are plenty of skin care and scar medicine out there but you need to find the best one for you. okay so i have a question...i'm volunteering at my old elementary school's spring fling. i'm not sure exactly what to wear. there are going to be some bounce houses and stuff and we're going to have (me and my friends) about an hour to be there before we start our shifts. then we're going to be either painting faces, or doing some other pretty easy work. i want to wear either a really cute skirt or jean shorts. which do you think? thanks!!!




I would recommend the jean shorts just in case you have to get in the bouncy house to help out some little kids or something crazy like that.

Hi, so i like this guy. Lets call him j. well i told one of my friends, (whos also friends w j) that I like J. Lets call that friend K. Well my friend K flirts w me ALL the time. I'm super pale and I wanted to be tan, so I started using Jergens Natural Glow and it works awesome!! People always compliment me on my tan skin now Smile Just be careful, I did have one incident where it got splotchy so I had to wait for it to wear off and start from scratch..

I would probably recommend a cute updo for your hair since it is going to be a little hot out - maybe a messy bun or nice ponytail. As for the shirt, a cute top or maybe a tank top with a nice, light cardigan sweater would probably work well.

Maybe you could wear a casual type sundress or skirt. If you want to be even less dressy you could wear a nice pair of skinny or bootcut jeans with a nice top. You could also add some cute flats.

I'm naturally darker skinned (since I'm black) but I'm on the lighter side.

I did use self-tanner lotion once like 2 years ago because I used to swim a lot and I got tan lines from being in the sun so my mom got it to even out my skin. But now my skin is like 3 shades darker than before even til now.

Well if it is a nice event I would suggest wearing your hair down or maybe a nicer updo..you could even dress it up with a cute headband or some pretty hair clips/bobby pins. I would go with pretty natural makeup since it is a first communion event and especially if it is during the day.

jergens is great!!!!! my mom uses it adn loves it. personally im against it. i dont go tanning and i dont use spray tan. in my opinion spray tan can make you look desperate and tanning makes you look like youre trying too hard but thats just my opinion. if you fake tan right it can look really pretty. i prefer to wait it out andget a real tan.

Hey Girl, this particular friend doesn't seem like a true friend to me if she talks about you behind your back. Even though it's clear she isn't being a trustworthy friend try and look from her perspective; is this just a phase or is she simply not a good friend. I would say once you've tried everything to savor the friendship; if you realize that it only brings negativity just slowly distance yourself away. You should both respect each other enough not to talk badly about each other but in some cases its okay to drift apart... this maybe one of them. Good Luck!

I LOVE Jergens. Within a week you have great color, and I like the smell of the moisturizer too! I used a whole bottle last year and I'm going to buy it for this summer. Plus its reasonably priced, about 8-10 dollars depending where you go.

Let's start vacuuming.
When that's done I'll give a ding.
See? There's already an upswing!

I use Jergens natural glow! I love it! But after I put it on I pat my legs (especially my ankles and in between my toes) and arms with a towel. Cuz if I don't I get a little orange between my toes and ankles. But it works fast and great!
