Summer kicks off this weekend, and I couldn’t be happier. Memorial Day is also the start of my brand-y new project: going veggie for the summer. Even though BBQ season is filled with lotsa yummy treats, I decided it’s time for me to switch up my healthy eating habits and ditch meat for the moment.
 
So, girlies, how many of you out there are vegetarians? What are some of your fave meatless meals? For summer, I love vegetables on the grill, tacos loaded with zucchini and beans and stir-fry and salads with tofu. Because I heart exercising, I have to make sure I get in plenty of protein. Luckily, I love eggs, peanut butter and all kindsa beans—bonus!
 
What are your healthy goals for the summer? Are you taking on anything major? We wanna know about it!

Hey, it's violet22, VP of The Book Club.
I'm considering being a vegetarian (for health, ethical, and environmental reasons) but there's a few stumbling blocks. My fam wouldn't be going the veg route and I'll have to cook my own food, I'll be super busy in the fall and won't have much time to cook, I'm worried about what to do when I eat at other people's houses, and I'm iron deficient.
Any vegetarians with advice on why be vegetarian, getting enough protein, iron etc., and anything else please post on my profile. Thanks!

I've been a vegetarian for over 7 months. Veggie burgers are actually really good, and you can grill them up at a BBQ just like you would regular burgers. Going veggie is the best thing I've done, not only for my own health, but to help animals, too. It's also good for the environment, and saves a ton of eneregy. So I really suggest becoming a vegetarian; you'll feel tons better about yourself.

i have recently tried being vegetarian. sometimes its difficult like when your at a party and theres pepperoni pizza or burgers but you just have to push yourself. i have to say that my fave vegetarian meal is bocha burgers. they taste like burgers (maybe even tast better) but there is no meat in them.

I used to be a vegetarian! its not as hard as people say, but my mom insisted I ate the 'same' meals as the rest of the fam, so we got veggie burgers and veggie dogs and stuff. but they were kinda expensive, so my mom made me go back to my omnivorous ways. Smile

MOD MOD MOD!
I need help working out. I have anemia and i'm hypoglycimic(low blood sugar), so I get tired really fast. My sugar drops really fast too, so its hard to work out. I normally stay in alot. What can I do?




It will be tough, but try low-cardio activities like biking.  Running will probably be really exhausting for you, so start with a lighter work out.  Maybe next time you have a doctors appointment, chat about ways that you can work out without feeling exhausted...I'm sure your doc will have a few pointers for you!
