My parents are overprotective!

 
My parents are way overprotective. I can’t do anything without supervision. I’m 14 and can handle things. I feel locked up, and I’m getting depressed.

Your parents don’t keep you under lock and key to make you miserable—it’s because they care enough to keep you safe. Still, it can drive a girl crazy to feel like she has no freedom.
 
Let your parents know you feel ready to take on more responsibility. Tell them you’re not asking to suddenly do anything you want but that you just want to take small steps toward teen-appropriate independence. Hopefully, they will gradually let you do more things on your own.

Talk to your parents about letting you have some freedom to go out with your friends. If not, wait awhile and ask again. Whatever you do don't complain and whine.

I know this sitch is tough.  I think talking to your 'rents about how you feel could help.  Maybe if they start giving you more freedoms, you'll get used to doing stuff alone quicker!  Good luck! XOXO

My parents are the same way and I am just about your age too. It feels like all you do is sit around wishing you can hang out with your friends. Especially when everyone else is hanging out at the movies or the mall and stuff like that. My parents have brightened up a little bit...but not too much. Eventually, yours will brighten up too.
