Hey girls! My name is Abby, I’m a senior in high school, and I’ve been interning at GL for a few weeks now.
Interning at
GL is so exciting for me, because I have always loved writing and art. I know it sounds kind of dorky, but I always keep a journal full of writings and drawings I do when I get ideas. Art and writing are things I want to pursue for the future, and it’s great to be part of something that involves both those things to create a magazine so many girls love.
Dear Abby
When I started GL, I was so surprised that I would actually get to write for them! It’s so cool seeing my name under the articles online, and all the comments you girls post on them. Giving advice is also one of my most favorite things to do at the office because I remember going through so many of the same things. It’s great to give someone confident and reassuring words I wish I had. When I answer letters, I’m amazed by how many states GL readers come from. This office is ten minutes away from my house, but what we do here reaches girls all over the country. It definitely makes the experience even more rewarding.
Perk Alert
Working at
GL is also full of lots of perks that I feel only come from working at a fabulous magazine. I get to sift through tons of shoes, clothing, makeup and accessories that come into the office. It’s something that most people dread doing, but I love it! I’ve always been into fashion, and whether I’m hanging summer dresses or unpacking awesome leather boots, I get so excited seeing all the different styles and pieces. We also get to attend beauty sales that happen every few months at the office. It’s a dollar for three things, so I loaded up on cool nail polish and bronzer.
I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far, and I love being able to add to the magazine you girls rely on.
