I'm going to 8th grade. Middle school is not a big deal. My piece of advice is don't do anything rash or too out there. Be yourself but nobody likes a total freak. One of my friens announced she was bisexual and lost 75% of her friends. She actually isn't she just did it to shock people. So don't do stuff like that. Smile

i would get it, but i have one more year till middle school, but some stuff in there could be helpful for right now.... and it would be helpful for when i DO get to middle school. my BFF is in middle school (6th grade ) so she could borrow it or we could read it together and share our thought with stuff in there like we already do, like about crushes, school being to hard,talent show worries ( i got in and had them, after a talk, fears nomore! ) and stuff like that, so maybe it would be a good idea to get it....

Mod mod Please answer, I need help. I go to the 9th grade, and I go to a new school. It's the same town hall, and they move everyone from the 9th grade to there so my classmates will be the same. The only problem is that last year I was the nerd and the outsider at school and I didn't belong. I learned to read and write with my parents and I skip the 1st grade and now I'm a year younger than everyone. So, I'm kinda childish near to the other girls. I want it to be different this year, I want they to know that I've changed and I want to belong, but I got very bad reputation as a nerd. Soo, tell me what to do.

 

Hey chica! There is nothing wrong with being a "nerd." The fact that you learned to read and write at such an early age is great! Don't try to force yourself to fit in because you will only end up acting as someone who you are not. You may also attract the wrong friends. I think you should try making friends with people who share similar interests with you, that way you will know that the friendship wasn't forced and isn't fake.  If anything, kids will be impressed that you are in the 9th grade at a younger age!

Hey chica, she could really be trying to make a genuine effort to be nice to you. But just keep be cautious around her. Get your three friends to introduce you to some of their friends. You can also try joining different clubs and groups at school to meet different kinds of people. Hope this helps!!! Smile

Hey chica! I'd talk to him first and become friends with him again. That way, you can ease into it, rather than jumping right in. And once you're friends, who knows what may happen! Just start off by saying hi to him when you see him. Then, casually ask how his weekend was, or his summer, to get the conversation flowing.

MOD MOD MOD!! I start 8th grade in September and im super nervous!! I'm retired military and we just moved last year (i went to 7th grade at the same school i am now). I only have a few friends but at all the other places I lived, i was always pretty popular. I'm taking on a lot of things (like the National Junior Honor Society, volleyball, and clubs). I wanna make more friends and stuff but im not the prettiest person there. I'm stuck!

 

You're involved in alot of stuff, so making friends should be no problem. Just give it a few weeks

Unfortunately, there really isn't anything that you can do to make yourself get taller or have bigger boobs. The only thing you can do is let it grow and you're at the age where these things will grow. Just give it time. As for acne, keep using Neutrogena every night because that really is the best thing you can do to get rid of zits. If your zits don't go away though, try a different product. Good Luck!

Hey girlie! It's normal to be a little anxious, but try not to let it get the best of you. Make sure you're staying on top of all your work and always reviewing what you've learned. MOD MOD MOD! nnot to b conceited but i read very good and fast. and i read ovevr a million words in half the skool year and im in 5th grade and read at a ninth grade level. my question is how to stop my teacher from comparing other kids to me. he got like 10 kids and made them stand on one side of the room and me on the other. he said i read more than all of them together and he started yelling at them. i felt sooo bad. now some ppl dont like me. this girl that is also smart doesnt like me cuz i read more then her, but idk if its true, my other friend told me. but we r friends, she hasnt told me to my face. but she tell kinda mean jokes, at recess i brought a snack and she said i didnt know it was luch time, i think she was trying to tell me i was fat (i am a lil bit) but anyways how can i get my teacher to stop comparing ppl to me? thanks! -- Monique

 

 

Hey chica! I would talk to your teach, and let him know that you feel uncomfortable when he does that, and you're worried that people won't like you. Be honest with teach, either before or after class.

school:

grades are so important so study and never be afraid to ask questions!
friends:
your changing and all your friends are to. dont be dissapointed if all of your friends act different.this is when you know who your real friends are. so dont be 2 sad that a friendship didnt last forever.its ok because there are full of different people.

In my school, Middle School was easy. i am so bored in some classes that I ready a book. But the reason people tell be why that is is because I read at a college level when I am in 6th grade. My mom is looking into bumping me into 7th grade. i don't really care, but the one thing that is bad about that is that there are these girls that yell at me for being so smart and I don't know what to do.

Middle school was difficult at first, it took me 3 days to figure out how to use a locker! I kept missing out on my lunch because of that! A few times I felt rushed to get to my next class but after a while I started to get the hang of it. Oh and tip, first impression especially in front of teachers always counts. If your teacher trusts you you're less likely to get into as much trouble as the other kids. Also kids tend to be mean in middle school don't let them get to you, trust me. And if you can't see the board very well let your teacher know, I should have. Middle school got easier and 8th grade was a blast! Good luck!

I am at a catholic elementary school for my 8th grade year and I also just switched from another school. My role in our play is only in act 2 and only for opening night. Most of the other girls that got a role like this were also asked to be in chorus because their roles' are so small, but I wasn't. I think it's unfair that I got such a small part while everyone else got a huge part. The worst part about it is that my friend got the lead role! How can I talk to everyone about this?

Hey girl, you can try talking to the play's director about participating in the chorus. If she won't let you, be a grateful supporting character and do the play to meet people and support your friends. A play is nothing without its supporting cast.

So I have this INSANE crush on a guy, and he is in every one of my core classes! He may have to sit next to me in reading, and he sits right in front of me in algebra, which I'm struggling in. I need to get good grades because since I'm in Gifted class, everybody has high expectations for me. But I can't concentrate or look at the board because I'd end up looking at him, and I know he can't see me because he's in front of me but still! How can I stop getting distracted?




I know its hard to focus. But you have to make sure you pay attention to what youre learning and get good grades. Focus on the teacher and do your best to focus. If its still very difficult go to your teacher and ask for a seat change. Good luck! xoxo kerra

MOD MOD MOD ok so i really want to take my ipod to school but so many people say i shouldn't because my brother got his stolen out of his pocket but most of the time i don't go anywhere without my music so i don't know whether i should take it to school and put it in my pocket or book bag!




I think you should leave it at home. Its not worth loosing it over the short period of time you would actually be able to listen to music, which wouldn't be that long.

MOD MOD MOD you know how after gym class your all sweaty your hair's messed up and your makeup is running down your face? well i don't know if you can go to your loker and redo your makeup and hair or if i should just go to the restroom and do it but it will take longer help!

 

Hey babe! I suggest going for the minimal approach for  make-up. If you have Gym class, try not to wear as much make-up as you normally do.  It's likely you don't need it anyway! However, if you really like wearing it then you definitely still can! Stick to water-proof mascara and eye-makeup, and apply powder after sweating.

this might seem really wierd but i REALLY want to go to boarding school in england. i think it would just be a really fun thing and a GREAT experience. so many different cultures mix together and i really want to be able to have an experience like that! in the movies the girls are always forced to go to boarding school when actually its my idea. well i need help with a few things:
1. how do i bring this idea up with my parents? ive tried before but they always thought i was joking..
2. how do i pick a good school? there are soo many amazing schools and its so hard to pick!

Maybe you could research schools online and see if there's any certain one that really fits with your interests- I don't really know anything about them, but maybe some of them have specific programs in a subject you might be interested in (for example, a school that focuses on arts, a school that focuses on sciences, etc.). Look at what makes each school different from each other: programs, size, location, etc. The cost is also probably a big factor and your parents could be concerned about that, so keep the cost in mind when you're picking. (Maybe you can use a translator online if it's in Euros). Once you show them your research and everything, they might understand that you're actually serious about this. You could talk to them about why you want to do it: let them know of course you would really miss them and everything, but you think it would be a really great experience and why.

Middle school is a lot better than it may seem. Just stay out of the drama, and you'll be fine. You get to be more responsable in middle school. I liked it.

Middle school isn't anything to be worried about. The only diffrence for me was no recess (don't worry you get over it fast) and switching classes. Boys start to gradually change so you'll be used to middle school when that happens.

Hey girl, don't be nervous! It's fun!! Just join different clubs or sports teams, and try to talk to as many people as possible. You'll make new friends, find more cute boys ;), and it'll just be a great time. - For math, try practice problems when you don't have homework (just a few a day), and get help from your teacher or parents. Helps a lot!

MOD MOD MOD help me! I just passed to 7th grade and life totally sux! There is soo much h.w. stress, Teachers give loads of tests and projects daily, I have Extra Curricular Activily classes which last till 2 or even 3 sometimes! I have to wake up at like 6 am, I finish everyday's job and sleep at about 11 or sometimes even 12! The restt of the day i am busy with homework or tutions.. I just don't have any time for my life.. Plus the library books are now compalsary to borrow nad read.. how do i do that when I have no time att all? I am becoming very tierd and stressed out.. help!

In english class around the end of june I had to write a report on something I would never forget. I wrote about loosing my best friend in the entire world. She was AWESOME. Then another girl came along... and to make a long story short... she ruined our friendship. I made her cry at recess in 5th grade. I wont ever forget her face and how it broke my heart to see her cry because of me. I go to school with the girl that ruined my friendship and we are "bestfriends" but she is deffinantly not what most would call a bestfriend. When my english teacher read my paper she said she wanted to cry but couldn't because she was at work. It herts me knowing that my bestfriend has amazing friends at her new school and pretty much forgot sbout me. How on earth do I forgive myself and move on????? I need advice asap

Hey girl, use your past to make amends for the future. You know how heart wrenching that was: make a vow to never do it again and move on confident that you're a better person now. You can also just write a letter or get in touch with your old friend you lost and apologize. Show her the paper and use it as a means to let out whatever's left and move forward toward the future.

this might be a really dumb question but i really wanna know answer!!! ok here goes : what do you write in "yearly plan?" you know, the page in a schedule book? i bought a schedule book that has yearly plan, monthly plan, and weekly plan. the monthy plan are just calender i can write in and weekly are well, monday tuesday.....etc. the yearly plan page has really small rectangles that have a math chart. this is how it looks like :

Hey girl, I would try to find something interesting about social studies, or at least find an interesting way to study. Maybe you could gather a group of friends and you could make up games or flash cards to help study for the class. Be sure to study and do all your work, and participate in class. All of those things should help your report card grades!

I have a crush on this one guy. He has already asked me out 2 times in the last year but I am way too young to date. Being only twelve, I am having problems with crushes and I don't want my crush to think that I don't like him. He is really nice, but I'm afriad that if he gets the wrong message, he might not like me. A couple years ago, he asked me out as a joke and I cried. But then last year he asked me out and I said no. My friend video taped his response and he was in tears...please help me!

 

Hey girl, I would just be honest and explain to him that you think you're too young to date. Also, why did he ask you out as a joke? You might want to reconsider your crush if he's going to do things like that (although maybe he's changed since then). However, don't do anything you feel uncomfortable with - if you think you're too young to date, then wait until you feel you're old enough! You could always say maybe you would date him in a few years when you're ready or something like that.

It's the first school I've been to that has two floors. My middle school was just a square, that's it!! I'm convinced I'll get lost. How can I get my way around? Also, I'm freaking out about how many people go there! It's the largest freshman class ever with 450+ students. In all there's somewhere around 1500 students!! EEP!!!!

 

Hey babe, see if you can get your schedule ahead of time and go to the school a day early to figure out how to get around to all your classes and everywhere else you need to go. That way you won't have to worry about getting lost. You're just going to have to get used to the number of people. If you think about them all as potential friends, it's much less frightening!

Don't be nervous! I'm sure you will be fine.  Someone will be able to explain a combo lock to you... They aren't that bad! It might be scary that you're moving to England, but I bet all of the kids over there will be super friendly to you, because they will want to know all about the United States! Have confidence, and be friendly!

finally going to 8th grade not the baibys of the high schoole wing i go to a kindergarten - 12 (we had our first graduating class of 3 last year ) and 7th and up is on the far side of the campus no longer the youngest in the high schoole wing i am the youngest in my class bay 20 days so i was the youngest in the high schoole wing im not upset about being the youngset though in fith grade i got five bucks for it

Mod! I had a prty yesterday. It was fun. I had 4 guys and 3 girls over. They're all my bffz. I kinda like one of the guys, Eric. But he's an eighth grader, and I'm a freshman so I wouldn't se him much. My parents are already like in <3 with him too, cause he's extremely nice. But he went out with one of my GOOD friends, so I don't know how to tell her I like him (she goes crazy when she finds out one of her best friends likes her exboyfriends) /: I started crying yesterday cuz something embarassing happened & he hugged me and started singing "baby come back, you can blame it all on me" and he like attacked me with water balloons and it was sweet. Smile But..... I also kinda like Chase (he's one of the guys too) , My mom said he is her favorite cause they were "friends" when I did track. But, he's extremely tall (6'1) and I'm like 5'2. And he sometimes can be a jerk, but he makes me laugh a lot. Soooo. Idk what to do or whom to go for?

 

Hey girly, I would go for the guy that's consistantly nice all the time...which sounds like Eric. I would talk to him about it and see what the deal between you two is. After you find out, I'd go and talk to your friend about it, so she doesn't think you're going behind her back. But remember, they're broken up, and it's your life.

just so you know when you're fully submerged in water your flow often slows or

Well middle school was easy and I had lots of fun and my first year I had straight a's for 3 semesters. U just have to turn in all of your work and do what you are told to do and you'll make it. But I was struggling in 8th. I had a d in pe and a c in social studies but I had a's and B's in the rest of my classes. And at the end of the year I brought them all up. I had all a's and only 1 b. That was in math of course!!!

We don't have middle school where I live. We go from elementary (k-7) straight to high school (8-12) I'm going to be in grade 9 this year so this is my second year of HS

I would try Amazon or looking at local bookstores. Maybe you could call a bookstore ahead of time to see if they might have it.

im having a crisis. this morning i was organizing the top of my mom dresser (it was a mess). she has this jewlry box with two levels and i decided to look in the bottom level. guess what i found? my RECENT diary pages. there talking about my ex-boyfriend and how i thought i was fat...i had ripped them out of my dairy so i could have clean pages. i THOUGHT i threw them away but somehow my mom has them. now im so mad at her (she doesnt know it) and i really dont want to talk to her about it. i mean wut will she say? "sorry honey i just felt like snooping through your personal LIFE!!!!!" HELP!!

 

That's awful - she should not be snooping through your private things! Even though you don't want to talk to her about it, I think it's important that she knows you don't appreciate her going through your private diary. Let her know that you threw these pages away and writing in your diary is your way of dealing with the things you are going through in your life. Tell her that you will come to her if you have a problem that you want to talk about with her, but some things you would rather keep to yourself. You could also ask her why she decided to go through your things. Be polite and grown-up throughout the conversation, though, and while you can let her know that you're angry, don't yell and scream at her.

Whenever i c a cute guy, i always keep my eye on him 2 c if he eva looks. they all only look about once adn then no more. im starting to think that im not as pretty as everyone says i am adn maybe im not skinny enough. idk wat 2 do bcause it hurts my confidence big time. i never flirt after they never look again and mayb they want me to make a move or they think im not interested, but it hurts my self confidence big time!!! how can i hold my head high???? :-(

 

Hey girl, Maybe they're just trying not to be obviously staring at you, or something like that. I wouldn't assume that they're not looking back because he doesn't think you're pretty. Also, to help your confidence, eat healthy and exercise, but don't feel like you have to lose weight: be happy with the body you have! Think of yourself as pretty. If you show your confidence, that will certainly shine through!! Also- if people are saying you're pretty, take those compliments in! People wouldn't say you were pretty if you weren't!!!

MODMODMOD im going to a birthday party at an amusement park today what should i wear? p.s. the park has a waterpark section so it might get wet but i still want to look cute.

 

Hey girl, I would probably wear a tank top and shorts with a bathingsuit underneath. Normally it's nice to wear mesh/running shorts to a park so if you get wet, they will dry more easily. However if you're going to be bringing a bag, you could wear whatever cute outfit you wanted (although not a dress or skirt) and bring a change of clothes for the waterpark section. If you wear your bathingsuit be sure to bring a bra and underwear in the bag. Also, wear sunscreen and sunglasses!
