I overplucked my eyebrows!

 
This is the worst thing I have done in years. After I took a shower the other day, I went to pluck my eyebrows since they were looking kind of bushy. So, I pluck and pluck, and then I look in the mirror and realize! I plucked a little part of my eyebrow off!
 
It gets worse! Next week, I'm starting basketball camp and I don’t want people staring at me the entire time. I even tried to make my eyebrows look normal by outlining it with light brown eyeliner! It didn't work. It seems like the end of the world every time I look in the mirror. How can I get my eyebrows to grow quickly before camp starts? HELP!

Hey girl, don’t worry at all! Sometimes I mess up my brows, it happens.
 
Touch Up
 
At most malls there are places that can wax eyebrows. When I used to mess mine up, I would go there and they would shape them up! It’s not too expensive, and trust me they can fix almost anything. But I’m sure you look fine! No worries.
 
I know you said your eyeliner isn’t working, but try using an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow. These are made specifically for your eyebrows and won’t be as harsh as eyeliner. AND! The most important part is you can smudge and blend so that they look natural.
 
Next Time
 
The more you do your eyebrows yourself, you’ll get a better sense of what shape you like. Try using a 3x mirror when you tweeze so that you can see exactly what you’re plucking.
 
Also, if you have a bit more change to spend, get your eyebrows shaped professionally. This way, you’ll have the perfect shape, and you’ll only have to worry about maintaining the look by plucking strays.

As far as I know, there aren't any specific foods for hair growth, but you should be able to see at least a small difference after two weeks! Try taking a vitamin supplement and eating tons of veggies!

Oh it's okay, I messed up mine. I tested to see if it hurt, and it didn't. So I kinda went crazy, but I used my FINGERS to do it. So if I pull on a hair and it didn't come out, it looked curly and weird. But I just use eyebrow pencil to make it look normal Tong

Oh don't worry about your eyebrows i am sure they look better than my friend's did 2 years ago. Ok so 2 years ago my BFF was getting ready for the girls choice dance. And she had picked her ultimate crush she was getting so carried away she kept plucking and plucking and plucking! then he came to pick her up and then when they got to the dance he saw her face in the light and he wen to the bath room and never came back! Jerk! But it was a funny story!

I am going into 8th grade this year. I got a 100 in math in the last term of 7th grade, so the school has decided to put me in an algebra class instead of pre-algebra course. i know what its like to have weared eyebrows, because i have bushy eyebrows and once after i go get them waxed or threaded, the lady diden't do such a good job. anyways, you just have to keep on doind what your doing, if somebody makes a nasty comment or something, just remember that everyone makes mistakes and nobody's perfect (especially the type of people who do laugh or make stuipid coments). and don't try to cover it with eyeliner, it doesn't really work. eventually, it will grow back, but until then, don't worry about it.

I'm turning 12 in september and my eyebrows are MESSED up I even get made fun of at school I tryed to persuade my mom into leting me pluck them she said are you going to stick with it I said ya then she said "their are some things in life you have to look forward to." When i mentioned my grandma.
My Grandma is a hairstylest and she said tht she would help me pluck them and show me how to do it. When I mentioned it to my mom my mom changed her mind.

I over plucked my eyebrows too! When i first started plucking them, I plucked them too far back, and then later I was mistaken and plucked off the ends. No worries, I still have regular looking eyebrows, just slightly thinner than before- and you know what? I'm happy with them.

Hey girl, If you're not sure if your mom will say yes, it still might be worth asking.  Just tell her that you would like to get them waxed so you don't overdo it.  The good news with that is that after you get them waxed, it's easier to maintain (you can just pluck stray hairs as they grow in).  If you gotta do them yourself, check out this article for some helpful tips for getting it just right:  http://www.girlslife.com/post/2009/01/15/Eyebrows.aspx.

Well, waxing and plucking are your main options.  If you can't wax them, maybe you can go to a salon to have them waxed.  I know that plucking is painful and annoying, but it can be really helpful if your brows need a little clean up!

Hey girl, I'd talk to your mom about maybe getting them waxed or seeing if she'll pluck them for you. If she says to wait, give it some time and don't worry about them.

Hey girlie, I don't think 13 is too young, but if you're mom does then you have to work with her. Maybe she's afraid that you'll do too much. Ask her if she can use tweezers to help fix them.

I looked at myself in the mirror and said,"I look fine I am not get a unibrow!". I have always had little blonde hairs in between my eyebrows and you can barely notice my eyebrows cause I have blonde hair. My mom cares more about how I look than I do!

I have super duper ugly small brown eyes. They're ugly because they're small; the color is fine. I HATE them so much. My glasses make them look smaller so I don't wear them, and my glasses are broken anyway. I don't know if they just seem small because my nose is a little larger than most's, or if they really are just small and ugly. What should I do? What can I do to make them seem bigger? Hey girl, honestly, your eyes sound beautiful. You can give your eyes the allusion of looking longer or bigger, however, with a little bit of eyeliner. My best suggestion? Instead of focusing on their size, embrace how beautiful they are and how fortunate you are to have pretty eyes you can see with. Remember, there are always people who have less/worse.

I have to get put to sleep, and they have to check my esafagus, and I hate blood, I'm really scared and I don't know what to do?

Hey girl,

Oh man, I completely understand... doctors can be scary! When you're being put to sleep, just try to take deep breaths and wait until you feel calmer. They will give you medicine to relax and then to actually fall asleep, so you won't remember a thing and you'll feel very calm. The blood work is harder though, since you'll be totally aware of what they're doing. This takes lots of concentration, but this is something that works for me. Close your eyes and focus HARD on an image in your head - I like thinking about being on the beach, or sitting by a fire with hot chocolate, or hiking in the woods near a stream. Imagine yourself there and play out a whole scene in your head with you and your friends. By shutting your eyes and focusing your senses on something else, it'll make the blood work seem like it goes by MUCH faster! Take deep breaths and remember that you have to get it done at some point, so why not make it as enjoyable as possible by putting your mind somewhere more pleasant? Smile You'll be ok!

i TOTALLY did that once! i plucked my eyebrows until they were really far apart! i thought my life was over! i just used crayon eyeliner and smudged it for a couple weeks and then they grew back. i havn't plucked them since, im to afraid!

MOD MOD MOD! It's summer & I wear shorts basicly all the time, but I was with some friends & I noticed that my thighs were bigger than theirs. They don't excerise even as close as I do & I thought it was weird espically cause they eat junk food all the time(haha i do but not as much). My thighs & my lower legs are big(at least 2 me).How can I make them smaller? Also what are some good places to buy bras that are around size B30 & stuff like that.(not Victoria Secret cuz I feel so young & small compared to the people there)

tonight im babysitting at 6. The mom only told me 6 and that she would see me on saturday (today). I'm not sure if she is picking me up (like she did last time) or if i should get my mom to bring me. Hmmm, I'm not sure. You wouldn't want to just get your mom to drive you in case the mom you are babysitting for is going to your house. So I would give her a call without making it look like you assume she is driving. Maybe you could call and ask for her, then say, "Hi, I'm just checking, but my mom is dropping me off at your house at 6, right?" Then she could either confirm or deny that.

I know it sounds easier said than done, but forgetting about the whole incident is the BEST thing you can do. It's only one day - being confident and holding your head high every single day in order to make a new, better impression will totally help the bird thing fade from people's minds. It's natural to have fears and it's natural to react to those fears, so just remember that and carry on. You'll be ok! <3

So glad you love the new site, thanks for the compliment girlie!!  As for the physical, don't be nervous! It'll probably be like most other doctors checkups that you've had in the past. They'll make you get into a gown and they'll probably check your weight, height, have you breathe and check with the stethoscope, they might feel around in your mid-section to make sure everything's ok. They'll probably ask you some questions about puberty - like if you've experienced certain things or not. There also might be shots involved, if you aren't up-to-date with vaccines. But other than that, I doubt you'll have to do anything too awkward!  If you're really worried, you can definitely ask mom or dad to call the doctor's office and ask what the physical entails. No harm in doing that! Either way, don't stress - it'll be over before you know it <3

MOD MOD MOD! Please help! Okay, so for a while I was a super girly-girl. I was totally 'all pink' and 'ewww' and stuff. Now I have totally changed but I don't think people see me that way. They still think I am so girly like that, but I'm not. How can I tell them or show them? I am still a little girly but defintaly not as much. Also I used to hate reading and everyone would play 'tease' me about it. But now I LOVE it and then my friends will say "I can't believe you are actually reading! Shocker!" Hey girl,

I'll be honest - it doesn't hurt, but it will sting for a little bit each time she plucks a hair out. What I've found to work is keeping a cold washcloth nearby {that was dipped in cold water and wrung out beforehand}. When she plucks, have her wipe the washcloth over your eyebrow. It keeps the stinging down and helps you get through it!

ok i have a bit of a "beer gut" and i kinda need to get rid of most of it in a couple weeks! and immaa little chuncky in my leg/thies....wat do i do for both of my probs?!?!?!?

 

Since you wanna tone up/lose fat in a couple areas, try working some cardio exercise into your day!  My faves are long brisk walks and kickboxing. Crunches also help strengthen and tone your belly.  Try reading the workouts we have in our "Health and Fitness" section for some tips {click "read more" at the bottom of the page for tonnnnns of options targeting all parts of your bod} - you'll have to be patient since transformation won't happen overnight, but stay motivated and you'll totally see results!

MOD MOD MOD! I kind of have the same problem...but I shaved my eyebrows. They look fine right after, but then they got stubbly! I am waiting for them to grow back so I can do something about it and not have it look seriously messed up. So does eyebrow waxing hurt as much as it does on legs and you chest and stuff (like what you see on TV shows and movies)? Because I think I might try that...

 

Hey girl!  I'm not sure how much it compares as far as pain - I haven't really waxed anything myself!  Waxing anywhere will obviously hurt, but the good news is the pain doesn't last long.  Just make sure you leave it to a professional to save pain and mistakes!

Hey girl, I guess the first thing would be to ask her why she won't let you.  Once you know her reasons against it, maybe you could try to come up with a compromise, like you can do it once you turn a certain age.  If you try to act calm and mature and listen to her point of view, she's more likely to say yes.

Hey girl, If you are worried about people seeing it, then maybe it's better to go the old-fashioned way.  Get a small planner, or print out a calendar on your computer.  You can use a pen to mark down the days, then tuck it away somewhere safe (like where you keep your other supplies!).  xoxo

OMG DO NOT MAKE YOUR OWN TAMPONS!  It doesn't sound safe (or like it would even work) and your vagina is already really sensitive to texture and bacteria.  Just wear a pad and enjoy your day

It depends on your hair.  I've got a thick jew-fro, so my eyebrows started needing to be tamed really early!  But waxing is a lot easier than plucking and hurts less.

alright, i have dirty blond, mostly straight hair, but thick, dark eyebrows that i'm soooo self conscious about! i try to pluck them, but i never do a very even job, and even when i do, they're still much darker than my hair.. i always notice them first in pictures of myself..and i'm to embarrassed to ask my mom to take me to get them professionally plucked, especially since i don't think she'll want to pay for that every week or so, and whats the point of getting it just once? i've considered lightening them at home, but i've always heard they look rather odd when they begin growing back your natural color. WHAT DO I DO??? i mean long term, the rest of my life, not just a quick fix? especially since i've been wanting to dye my hair a little blonder recently, but that would only make the difference more prominent Frown help!




Hey girl, the color of your eyebrows has NOTHING to do with the amount of hair.  Even if you pluck them super thin, they will still be dark brown.  Ask your mom if you can try getting your eyebrows waxed or threaded (another kind of hair-removal treatment).  They both last longer than plucking so you wouldn't need to get it done as often. Also, once a professional shaped them, its easier to clean them up yourself between visits.

i am sorry, but i don't like the new look of girlslife. (or is it just my computer?). i am sorry for saying this, but that is only because for the past year, i have started to hate the word change. last year, my memere passed away (my grandma), my church was closed(the very place i love), and a couple of weeks ago, i became aware of the fact that my mother's aunt's next door neighbor(who is also her cousin) is dying. his house is in such bad condition (as they have just become aware of) that they are going to take it down. there are many more things that have happened, but they hurt so much to think of that i fear they will drive me to tears just writing them down. i know that this won't change your minds to change the site to it's former glory, but i just wanted to say something.

I am literally so bored I could die, and I will be the next 12 days as well! My only friend is going to Colorado for 10 days starting Saturday, and her mom's been making her do nothing but chores for the past 3 weeks! I've been dying of bordem, even when she's done and asks if we can do something, her mom either says flat out 'no' or says yes, then changes it the next day! I really miss hanging out wit her, and I have nothing else to do! Any ideas? And please don't say, make new friends, do crafts, etc, cause I can't and stuff gets boring easily when Im alone

I havent eaten meat for a day, (I really like animals, and I dont want to eat them) And if i dont eat meat i barely eat cuz of my fam luvs meet and my mom isnt gonna make two seperate suppers. Hey girl, you probably need some source of iron or protein. Vegetarians get these from beans,tofu, legumes, peanutbutter, cottage cheese, cheese, and eggs. (to name a few options) There are also vegetarian burgers, tofu dogs, etc. Try Boca burgers, they are delicious and vegetarian!

Hey babe! To darken your brows an easy way is to use eyebrow defining pencil, makes them a little darker. Or to permanently darken them, you can use a little bit of black dye.

MOD- In about a week, summer band starts. It starts at 8:30 in the morning. The only problem is that I've been going to bed at like 7 in the morning and sleeping until 3 in the afternoon, which is not going to work. Sorry to say...sounds like you're going to have to make a major change in your sleep schedule.  Try to limit your caffeine intake, and go to bed by 1 AM, So if you're waking up at 3 PM, you'll still have 10 hours of activity.  If you go to bed by 1 AM, you'll likely wake up a little earlier.  Try going to be earlier and earlier, until your natural-non-groggy wakeup time is 8:30.

the new girlife.com is fantastic! Anyway I like this guy but I don't get to seer him that often . So I want to do something fun with him and seem really funnny and charming plus I want to look really pretty. The problem is I have no idea what to wear the weekend I see him. Do you have any ideas? Outfits, shoes, swimsuits, hair makeup? Anything will help. And what could I do with him and his friends? Thanks so much!




Hey girl, I'm glad you like the new look of the site! Before you plan what to wear, figure out what you'll be doing and what the weather will be like. You'll probably want a casually cute look if the two of you are just hanging out, so try wearing denim shorts (or any kind of shorts) and a cute top. You can throw that over a pretty swimsuit, or wear it to the movies. Don't wear too much makeup, because you don't want to look overdone, and do something pretty and simple with your hair. Just make sure you're comfortable with what you wear, and how you look so you'll be confident. Good luck!

I am going to Canada's Wonderland today, but I'm not sure how to do my hair. I was thinking I should put it up in a ponytail or a messy bun, but it's really thick and doesn't reall stay in a bun. I also have a lot of baby hairs I guess you could call them. So when I put it up in a ponytail, it gets all frizzy and I have wispy's. Do you have any ideas on what I can do?




Hey girlie, I think going with a ponytail or messy bun would be great. You can find a lot of hair products for calming frizz at your drugstore!

You could wear a bandana over your eyebrows till the hair grows back. It might look weird but it's better than going around with half your eyebrows plucked out. Hope I helped!

Hey girly, if it's really hot, then why not braid your hair back into a french braid to keep it out of your face, and looking cute and chic?

As for clothes, I'd wear a sundress to stay cool. Target and Forever21 have some super cute ones for cheap Smile

She's had a lot of problems with her home life and i feel really bad for her. The problem is that feeling bad for her isn't enough. I want to help her but i don't know how. Thanks for your time.

 

Hey girly, the best thing you can do is be there for her when she needs it, and even when she doesn't. Invite her over to your house as much as you can, and do as many fun things as possible to take her mind off of everything. But also, make sure she knows that she can talk to you about the serious stuff if she needs to.

My big sister treats me like a baby. sHES 14 AND im 81/2. shes always like "when i was in 2nd grade..." whenever shes on the phone shes all like " i cant talk right now.. my kid sister is in the room.

 

Maybe you could say something to her about how you're getting older and don't like it when she talks down to you because of your age, or something like that? Just make sure you're polite and grown-up about it. Maybe you could suggest something fun that the two of you do together.

I'm 14, going into my first year of high school, and I STILL don't have my period. I'm kind of a "late bloomer" but I've had all the little warning signs for a year or two. What's the latest possible age someone can get their period and also does weight have anything to do with it? I'm really skinny so I'm wondering if that's it. Thanks!!!!!!

 

I think the average range is from 9-16, but some girls could possibly get it later. If you're concerned, you could ask a doctor or gynecologist. I think being skinny could be related.

i am a 5th grader and go to the elementary school. we have to wear shirts that say elementary school on them. ia am friends with a 6th graders in middle school and when i hang out w/ her friends, if they talk about boys or whatever they're always like shhhh theres a little kid here.

 

You could just explain that you aren't a little kid, just because you have to wear the shirt. They were in your spot last year and should understand. Maybe after school you could change your outfit if you're self-conscious about the shirt.

My mom says I'm gonna start it soon, because I have been having bad cramps, and I have discharge, but it's been over three months now, so I just wanted to know what are all the signs before you start your period, and how long will the signs go on for?

 

Hey girl, it's different for everyone so there's nothing wrong with you. Some of the signs could include discharge, breast growth and hair growth. The length that the signs go on is also different for everyone.

Maybe every time you want to bring up something about yourself, you could remind yourself that your friends might not want to always hear just about you. Ask your friends questions about their lives so that you know that you're interested. Of course you can talk about yourself some, but it's good that you realized the problem!

First, I would just try to wash your hands with soap and water. Otherwise, maybe you could try scratching off the paint - but be careful!

I don't pluck yet, cause my eyebrows are really blonde and not very bushy. But once at Sephora, me and my friend saw this weird eyebrow pencil thingy, but it was waxy and felt weird and then we learned it was some sort of growth serum and we like plastered it on around our eyebrows!! EWWW! We used makeup remover to get it off!!!
