My phobia is embarrassing me!

Check these out, too...

  • What freaks you out? Spill the deets!
  • Words to remember when life gets scary
I'm afraid of bees and wasps. It’s embarrassing because whenever one comes around or buzzes in my ear, I have a heart attack and freak out. I can't help but run away sometimes.

I'm just so scared of them that the fear keeps building. My parents just think that I'm being a baby. They don't understand my fear. Some people even have laughed at me! I want to get rid of it, but parents don't want to pay for counseling. I don't know what to do. Help.

Hey girl! I know EXACTLY how you feel. After I got stung when I was seven for the first time, I jumped every time a bee flew within ten feet of me. It wasn't until a few years ago that I learned to stop being so scared.

Bee’s sense fear

They know when a person is afraid and that makes them afraid. Bees and wasps attack when they feel threatened, so if you remain calm and unafraid, they will leave you alone.

Control your fear

It's hard not to jump at the first sounds of buzzing, but after that initial jump you need to relax immediately or at least pretend to relax. By remaining calm the bees will chill too. It might be hard to do because your instincts are telling you to scream, but screaming will only get you stung.

Walk, don't run

Running from a bee will only agitate it more and want to sting you. If you really can't stand that bee buzzing around your head, then simply walk away. Go inside or move to another spot. Just remember to walk and chances are, that bee won't even notice.

Remember, it's totally normal to be afraid of bees and wasps. The important thing is to learn is how to control that fear.

Okay i've gotten stung twice and fainted twice because of the bee. My parents say it's just because im like afraid and they don't think its that im allergic but you have it easy just dont run away and scream you haven't actually been stung yet but just stay still.

MOD MOD MOD
Ever since I went on a wooden rollercoaster when I was about 8, I have HATED rollercoasters. I'm 15 now, and in a few days, my family is going to an amusement park. My sister wants me to sit in the front row of a rollercoaster that I have been to afraid to go on. I want to go on it, but I don't want to get too freaked out. And there is another rollercoaster she wants me to go on that has loops and you hang from the track! I want to go on them, but they are freaky! Help!!!!!

Hey girl, if you're scared and you know it's not good for you don't go on them. Even if people start to make fun of you for not going on them, don't listen - stand your ground! Trust me, I hateeee roller coasters, I just can't do it.

Okay everyone saying that they are "the same way," and that theyre "sooo scared of bees" really has NO IDEA what it is like to have a real phobia. I don't even know if the girl in the article has a real phobia, but I do. I am apiphobic, which means I am irrationally terrified of bees and wasps. I FAINT when a bee is near me, I can't help it. I have never gotten stung. I probably need therapy because I've gotten hurt fainting before, but I don't want it. So everyone who's saying that they have phobias when it's not a real diagnosis, stop. Its insulting to those of us who have real problems.

MOD MOD MOD ok so i had to break up with my boyfriend cuz it just wasnt working out well i had to message it to him bc he will be in colorado for the rest of the summer and i had to get out of that relationship but he hasnt replied yet soo is it safe to consider myself single??

Hey chica, if you're dead set on breaking up with him, then I think you can consider yourself single. However, if you wanted to talk about it, and possibly work it out with him, then I'd give him some more time to respond...
