Battle Bikini Bumps

 
When I shave, I get bumps by my bikini line and they look gross. How do I get rid of them?
 
Those zit-looking things are ingrown hairs that get trapped below the skin’s surface, resulting in irritation and swelling, just like a blemish.
 
They can happen anywhere, but the sensitive bikini area is especially susceptible. Dr. Vivian Bucay, a dermatologist in San Antonio, TX, recommends an “application of a ½ or 1 percent over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream twice a day to minimize skin irritation and bumps after shaving.”
 
Ingrowns still makin’ ya crazy? The GL staff swears by Tend Skin ($16, drugstore.com), a liquid you dab on ingrowns. It’s magic.

That sounds painful. You might have had an allergic reaction, but I don't have a medical background so I can't tell you what might be wrong.  I would tell your mom about the pain and make an appointment to see your doctor ASAP. Your doctor should be able to prescribe something to make the pain go away.

Starting monday, I felt itchy and irritated down there. It wasn't so bad, but my mom wanted to see if anything was there, so I tried to remove my pubic hair. With removal cream. Big mistake. There's no redness or anything, but every time I move it is really painful. I can't go to school! I've tried calendulan cream, vaseline, and even pain killers but it still hurts. (the pain killers kinda helped) What else can I do? Do you know what is wrong?

When it comes to shaving you can completely shave, like I do, shave but leave some and shape it or just trim around the edges. No one way is perfect but most of my friends either shave it all or shape it. I use a good moisturizer that allows me to shave it all off and if you are going to completely shave you need to do it often to keep from getting stubble that itches.

Some of my friends shave because they want to and some shave because they have bfs, but in my opinion, I think you need to do what you want. So if you dont want to shave I wouldnt.

I heard that when you shave 'down there' you are supposed to go with the growth of the hair, not against it. But now I always have stubble and its itchy and catches on my undies. I really don't want to wax, help please!!

 

The best way to get rid of stubbles is Nair or something in a creme or lotion that removes hair from the bikini area.

Thats discharge and maybe even your period. So i suggest you stock up on tampons and pads to prepare. Dont worry about it though. Its perfectly normal. Good luck! xoxo kerra

Hey girlie, I haven't had much luck with them. Personally, I think it's easiest to shave, but you could try waxing, which generally lasts longer than shaving.

Where is the bikini line? I used to shave down there, closest to my belly button, but then my mom told me that i shouldn't, so i stopped. But i never got "bikini bumps". I just wanna know where the line is...




Hey girlie, When people talk about their "bikini line" they just mean the area right outside the edge of their bikini bottoms. Some girls shave it if they have hair that shows around their bikini.

i get those weird bumps when i shave under my arms too making it really embarassing to lift up my arms when wearing a tank. any advice for that? (I already put lotion on my underarms after i shave)

When shaving down there you have to use a good cream with moisturizer. If you just shave some of it or all of it like I do, its important to moisturize every time you shave. Drugstore.com has so many products like 'Anti Bump' and other kinds just for our down there area. If you do it right it makes you have no bumps and is smooth until the hair starts growing back and then you just shave again.
