No more backing outta your workouts, babe. We’re blowing the lid on those oh-so famous excuses us girlies give to nix our fitness. 10 reasons why you can never cop out on getting your physical health in check again. 

“It’s too hot out!”
Rising mercury can kill your desire to exercise (hello, you’re already sweating). Take the opp to swim laps in the pool, try out a Pilates DVD in the AC or jog through every sprinkler on your street. So chill.

“I’m too tired.”
Avoid the urge to nap—moderate exercise actually boosts your energy. Tie on those sneaks and give something a whirl—even riding your bike counts.

“I HATE working out.”
Betcha ten bucks ya just haven’t found the right activity (OK, we can’t really bet, but you get the point). Promise yourself you’ll try one new activity this week, whether that’s tai chi or skateboarding.

“I have my period.”
Exercising actually lessens the effects of cramps, so PMS isn’t an excuse to sideline yourself. Stock up on tampons and make the most outta your workout.

On vacay? It’s the perf opp to lace up those sneakers and take a walk to explore your destination. Or, check a way fun sport that’s not available in your hometown, like surfing.

“I’m naturally skinny...I don’t have to workout.”
Sorry, sugar. Exercising isn’t just about slimming down—it gives your bod about a million other benefits as well. Strengthen your heart and bones by exercising vigorously—now!

“I’m so not athletic.”
So what? There are tons of activities that don’t require catching, throwing or kicking. Martial arts, dance, Pilates, yoga, Zumba and spinning are great for girls who don’t dig team sports.

“Ugh. Exercising is sooo boring.”
Crank up the tunes and start working out with your besties. Friends + music = instant fun, even if you’re just doing push-ups and crunches.

“I’m too busy!”
We know it can be tough to squeeze in a sweat sesh, especially between summer jobs and vacay and hanging with friends. Consider breaking up your workout into 10 minute pieces—you’ll still get all the same plusses. 

“I went running yesterday.”
It’s alright to take days off, but make sure you aren’t nixing sweat sessions every day. Girls who are trying out for fall sports should get in the habit of exercising more often now. Even if it’s not that intense, go for it!

Hey girl, you should wash your face with soap and warm water daily to keep from clogging your pores up. Sometimes a home remedy that gets rid of pesky pimples is toothpaste!

MOD MOD MOD! Hey so I read somewhere that if you run you should run every other day not everyday. Is that right because that's what I've been doing right now. also I run and add on like 4 minutes every week (I'm up to 20 minutes) and do push ups but I still have underarm flab (you know where I mean?) What else can I do to stop that? I found the resistence bands but IDK where the directions are so i don't know any moves. THANKS SO MUCH AND HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!!!!!!!! ~Renee

MOD MOD MOD Im 12 and im 155 pounds but i dont really look like it,but i have been starting a routine and iv'e been eating healthy,but i recently heard that if you do sit-ups when you've go tummy fat it can make muscles over top of the fat! is that true because it really scared me! i dont wanna be fat forever!!




You should talk to your parents and doctor about your weight concerns. They can help you loose weight if you want to or make you feel happier about your current weight.

ok so latly my family has been pushing me to work out and stop eating and snacking all the time. Im 13 and i way 104 lbs i didnt think that it was that bad but my dad said it was bad for me to have a belly and whenever i got to take a snack or something my mom is always like put that back and makes an excuse for me to not eat and my sis and I are the same age and she weighs less than me but she is also pushing me to workout she keeps asking me if I wanna go walk on the treadmil or something so I have but now that i have they keep getting more persistant and its not like im not doing anything i ride my horse for 2 or 3 hours everyday and monday-fridays i work outside with little kids playing tag and football. please help me get my fam off my back but also some advise for dropping a couple pounds!

Hey girl, the way to get your fam off your back is to do what they're pushing you to do without them pushing you: exercise on your own so when they tell you to, you can say you already have. Go for a jog in the neighborhood. When you go for a snack, go for healthy food. Take care of yourself so they'll lay off trying to do that for you.

Getting better at running/biking/whatever activity is a gradual process - it takes a long time to work up to it! You'll only get better by pushing yourself further though, so remember not to get too comfortable. If you feel like stopping, push yourself to go another 5 minutes. The best thing to do is stick with it, while also mixing new exercises into your routine to keep things interesting. You'll get there with patience and hard work!

Wow, a wedding planned already??  Just kidding!  It's great that you guys already hang out - that's the best way to see if you guys have a connection.  Keep being friendly, and think about chatting with him in-between ice cream visits to show him your interest.  Try not to focus on the other girls, but just on how things feel between the two of you.  But if it doesn't work out with this guy, don't sweat - there truly are other great guys out there.

The two main things to having a healthy and happy bod are getting some physical activity and eating a variety of nutritious foods.  It sounds like you're already doing great on the activity part!  Instead of trying to eat "better," just try to think about incorporating some more healthy foods - like fruits, vegetables, whole grains - into your usual routines.  But making any change takes time, and losing a lot of weight fast is actually really dangerous.  Try to treat yourself well, inside and out (no fat, talk, please?), and you will start to notice a change.

Hey girl, the best way to lose inches is running. The key is to switch up your workouts daily. Try running every other day and include hill intervals, different speeds, (fast, slow, fast, slow alternating). Also, another tip is to walk as much as you can. If you can choose between driving and walking, try walking there instead. (Or riding your bike)

In response to the period one excuse... that is definitely a legitimate excuse, especially if you are like me, and get unbearably nauseated to the point of tears. I think I'm starting to become immune to midol because it hasn't been working as well lately. One day this nausea thing was so bad, that I had taken 2 midols before I left the house, and called my mom at the end of first hour and I still wasn't better so my grandma brought me some emetrol. I took two tablespoons. It masked it, but boy.. did I feel... drugged, I guess.

I always exercise on my vacations.I live at the beach surfing is my favorite sport at home.But we usually go on vacations away from the beach to see what its like. Like Ive been hiking in the canyons in Utah Which is SO different than hiking on the Atlantic Coast which I call home.

School starts in about a month. I want.... crazy as it seemsSmile I want abs, i want it more then anything. I love to exercize and im good at sticking to a program and I eat REALLY health. Is it going to take more then a month to get my only wish to have abs. I want them cause a stupid boy told me it wasnt possable. I want to prove him wrong and have a killer bod. Thanks!

I'm not very active so i need some tips on good exersizes for me. I'm 13 and i need to tone downe my thighs and tummy. plus i cant even find the time to exersize because i have school flute violin piano friends who dont ever want to workout with me chores family stuff and golf team every weekday from aug to the first week in oct. PLEASE HELP!!




Golf is definitely a work out.  You don't need a lot of time- just like 10 minutes a day! Whether it's a few regular ab crunches, or even a set of 20 lunges, if working out is important to you, you should be able to make time for it!

Definitely! If you stick to a good work out routine, like running a mile every day, and making healthy choices when it comes to eating, you will definitely tone up.  Don't pay attention to the numbers on a scale, but rather pay attention to how your clothes are fitting you.  Because, muscle weighs more than fat!

MODMODMOD! Do you have a link to a BMI calculator? I don't know if I'm overweight or not and I exercise a ton during the schoolyear but not in the summer and I can't find the time or the motivation to exercise during the summer! What should I do?




We can't give you a link to a BMI calculator, but I'm sure if you searched on the internet you could find a reliable one! Because it's so hot in the summer, it is harder to find the motivation to go work out! But, if you grab a buddy, and go on a run together, or maybe go swimming with your brothers, you can have fun while you're working out! That's great that you work out a lot during the school year, so maybe summer is your break! September is right around the corner, and your work out routine will start right back up!

I'm going to my cottage this week and I wanted to know if there are any activities I could do besides running, swimming, and biking while I'm up there.

 

Hey girlie, I don't know where your cottage is or what there is to do there so I can't really help with outdoor activities. But you can take a couple books and maybe some craft supplies for when you want to stay inside.

Im 11 and I weigh 123 and I think im so fat!! I work out everyday but I havent seen results Frown is this normal ? I eat healty so I dont know why my weight is that much!! Is my weight healthy? School starts the 18th of Aug I was wondering if there was any way to lose a couple pouds between now and then ( about 3 to 4 pounds possible ? ) Everyone else is a pile of bones and its not fair Frown please help.

Hey! "normal" weight just depends on your height. Just keep working out and eating right, it sounds like you have a really great healthy lifestyle! That's the best way to lose a few pounds. Good luck!

okay i'm going to the beach with my fam in two weeks and i wanted to tone up by then. I'm doing that speedy weekend workout from here everyday. will i see results by then if i do that one? i cant do the shape up in a flash one, too hard. is there anything better? would i c results if i did 2 curcits of that one (once in the moring once @ nite)? thanks so much.

 

Hey girlie, no matter what kind of workout you're doing, it usually takes longer than two weeks to see results, but you should still workout so that you'll see results a month or two from now!

i totally agree with these. i think people always make excises not work out (even me sometimes) and it's great thing trying to stop this too. Smile

plus don't really work out because i love to swim and not really a chore for me. since it's not really that hard for me. plus this may sound stupid it's like own world and it gives you place to think with no one to distract you. (since no one can under stand u in the water anyways)

It's Not Padded But it's moulded I don't know what it means But its not the stuff on Old Bread Tong

Whn I take it off at night there are red marks just underneath my breats From the elastic bit
But I cant go up a size cause if i do my boobs wont fit into the cups becuasue they bearly fit into the 34aa
If I go donw a size My boobs will fit into the cups but te red marks will be worse what do i do??? up down new bra???

 

Hey girl, you can trie a 36AA so that it will be bigger around your ribcage but the cup size won't be much bigger.

I've been training for my 8 minute mile since late June. I've been doing sprints, 15 minute jogs, and strength exercises. I've been doing at least one a day since the beginning of July, and lately I've been doing two a day. But for some reason, my mile time seems to be getting slower! What should I do? I think it might be that I'm not eating healthy enough. But HELP!

 

It's probably because you're doing too much and exhausting your body.  Since you're running SO much, your same amount of energy has to be spread across all of those runs, instead of putting more energy into fewer runs.

Hey! So, according to my doctor, I have to pack on a few pounds in order to develop enough for my age. (I am fourteen and I have no curves!) My doctor wants me to up my calorie intake and eat more fattening foods. I am OK with that (Who doesn't like indulging?) but the problem is, I don't have a giant appetite. Also, I prefer foods that tend to be lower-cal and not as filling. For example, I prefer cheerios over granola or sherbet over ice cream. As for fruit, I like it plain! without added peanut butter or anything.
Any ideas? I am sick of being underweight! But I am so active it is hard to keep up!

Just try to eat the higher calorie foods. You may prefer the lower calorie options but the high calorie foods are still good. So i suggest you try to eat atleast one fatty food every day. Good luck! xoxo kerra

my next door neighbor moved away a about 3 years ago.
i dont know if they sold it or they just left it there.
but anyway its completely empty.
well, they have a pool.
alot of my friends sneak into their backyard and go swimming,
they say its not ba, becasue no one lives there anymore anyway.
its been getting really hot, and now i want to go swimming and ive been tempted by my friends.
DO you think it would be bad if i went ?

ok, i have this problem, i told myslef i would get fit this summer but it didnt exactly work out. i tried to eat right and excercise but i dont understand how to get motivated! and i am wondering if running on the tredmill for 20 minutes then using some weghts and practicing sports like volleyball and basketball are good daily excercises? and is oatmeal in the morning, a meat sandwich with maybe some fruit, then watever my parents make for dinner a good healthy diet? and do u think this will make me lose weight? i am 5'4 and almost 150 and need to shape up for sports

Hey girl, try braiding the front part of your hair back and then securing the rest in a high messy bun if isn't managable.  Or try wearing a pretty sparkly headband and securing the rest up and out of your face.

yah i dont actually "work out", well at least i dont call it that. i used to hav a tread mill, but then my dad tuk it bak cuz "he needed it" but actually its in his garage all dusty...lolz i just practice roller skating (almost got it down!), skateboard, dance, and run! and i play just dance on the WII, its lyk arobics!!!!

i used to use these til i broke my leg. the physical theripist made me exercises to do that are easy even with one leg. they are kinda fun, too. plus, now i'm loads stronger than all the boys in my grade.
