Feel Amazing by the First Day: The Eats

The Eats
Pile your plate with fruits and veggies, lean protein and whole-grain carbs. Make meals more fun by trying some of the delish healthy recipes.

Power-Pack Your Breakfast You know it’s crucial to eat in the a.m. Truth is, what ya nosh first thing can make a major diff in the way you eat all day. Getting a dose of protein at your first meal, like scrambled eggs with some veggies (like peppers) or Greek yogurt with berries, will keep you full longer and you’ll snack less.

Square Off Those Snacks Now’s the time to make those nibbles more nutritious. In his book Food Rules, Michael Pollan suggests a tasty morsel for between-meal bites: Limit snacks to foods that grow outta the ground. If it comes in a package, avoid it (you’ll save your bod a ton of unnecessary sugar and fat). Instead, treat yourself to berries, apples, nuts and veggie sticks.
Take Your Time Tasting Spend some more dinners eating around the table with the fam or at least a sib. It gives you time to savor, as opposed to popping it in your mouth while watching TV. When you’re not focusing on the meal, it’s easy to mindlessly nosh. Keep it up once school starts, too.
