I cant fall asleep!

Every night I lie in my bed for hours unable to sleep, even though I’m tired. How can I finally get a better night’s rest?

What you’re describing is a classic symptom of insomnia, or the inability to fall asleep. This can be brought on by anything from stress to what you had to drink or eat during the day. To catch some much-needed zzz’s, first try nixing naps and caffeine, which can make you wired well into the evening. Then, go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.

If you toss and turn for more than 10 minutes, get out of bed and sit in the dark (sorry, no TV or Internet!) until you get sleepy, then lie back down. Tried everything? Consult your doctor. He or she can help you make your sweet dreams come true.

I thought i had Sleep Apnea, which has been spreading through my brother, mom, and possibly my dad. Well, either way, I think I've got a sleep disorder.

MODMODMODMODMOD !!!!!!
I've had chronic insomnia for 6months now and today I decided to stop using sleep aids because they have no effect on me. I just did just dance for like half an hour then the elliptical for like 7 min, add that in with sleep depervation do you think I'll ever fall asleep tonight because I'm afraid of what will happen now that I'm off the meds? Also I know that if I can't sleep after 30min that I get up and read till I'm tired but I'm scared I'll never be tired then I'll be up by myself and I'll feel all alone with my problems and I can't be tired tomorrow because I have 2 sleepovers this weekend! I need help MOD please help me!!!!!!!!




Hey girlie,

Have you talked to a doctor about what might be causing your insomnia? It's probably more a mental thing than a physical thing - are you worried or stressing about something? Has there been a big change in your life? Try to figure out what happened that started your insomnia, and see if you can be honest with yourself about it. It might really help! You should also try to pay attention to what you do before bed each night. Try to stop watching TV and using your computer TWO whole hours before you plan to lay down. Don't take a shower at night either, because that can stimulate you. Ease into bed by having a cup of warm decaf tea, reading a couple pages in a book, and laying down in bed to relax. Change up your routine a little and see if it helps! If not, you should really talk to a doctor again and let them know that sleep aids are not working and you think you need to approach the problem from a different angle <3

MODMODMOD!!! well i havent slept since yesterday so you can see my promblen im tried my eyelids feel super heavy but i cant fall asleep its always been hard for me to fall asleep but its gotten worse see yesterday it wasnt til 4 until i fell asleep and today wasnt as all wat should i do????

Don't worry. You probably just have a lot on your mind. Try listening to some music and breathing deeply. Try to clear your mind and hopefully you will get to sleep. If it gets worse, for example, you can't sleep for 2 weeks, then talk to your doctor about it.

Help! I can't sleep either! In the middle of the night, I randomly wake up. And when I do wake up, all I can think about is this scary story read to me at school, about a man who watches you sleep. I am really getting mad because I can't sleep, and it is really affecting the way I look! Help please?

Hey chica! If you are having problems sleeping, you should talk to your Mom or a doctor. Also, you might want to let your teacher know so you can avoid future situations that are similar.

Take the stairs more than once. When you’re at home, run up and down the stairs three or four times before heading to your room. It’s a sneaky way to stay active.
