Weight concerns

 
I’ve been on a diet for six months, and I’ve done great. I lost 20 pounds. But I’m getting dark circles under my eyes, and I think my period has stopped.

Dear Weighty Concerns,

When a heavy girl drops 20 pounds sensibly, that is terrific. When an average-weight girl loses that much, it can be life threatening. The goal is to be healthy, not super skinny. If you are dieting compulsively, it’s imperative that you eat more. Your body needs food to thrive. Dark circles and missed periods do not always point to an eating disorder, but they can be signs of anorexia. Talk to a doctor, school nurse or counselor about this right away.

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD like four of my good friends have just kinda left me and a couple of my friends. we are now two groups now. they dont inviteus or anything. whats up? I dont think we are even friends anymore. My two other friends notice it too. they will be kinda mean to us too. i am depressed about it? please help

 

 

Hey girly, I would definately advise you to talk to one of the girls from the other group and ask what the deal is. Pick the one that you used to be closest to, and ask why they don't want to hang out anymore. At least you have your other friends, and you're not alone Smile

MOD MOD I am 13 and weigh 115 pounds. I am not overweight but pretty chubby i think. I just can't seem to lose weight. what can I do?

 

 

Hey girly girl! Make sure that you're eating healthy and getting exercise. Even small things, like coffee from Starbucks, or soda, can pack tons of calories which will work against your weight loss goals. So, make sure that you're eating plenty of fruits, veggies and lean proteins, like fish and chicken, to keep you going throughout the day. Also, check out the workout and snack ideas in our G-Life section on the website. Truth be told though, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You sound like you're at a perfectly fine weight, and as you get older, you'll lose some of that baby fat that you think you have.

MOD MOD MOD well i know that i am a skinny girl, but i am still afraid of getting fat. And over the summer i ate SO unhealthy and i only gained like 3 pounds. So i was 102 pounds at the end of summer. And i was really disappointed in myself b/c i had done track before the summer and i was all muscle-y and then after the summer i wasn't. so ever since then i have no desire to eat breakfast or lunch. I will eat a banana for breakfast and like half of a bagel for lunch and a normal dinner but i wont eat anything after dinner. like i just have no desire to eat at all. I'm also becoming a vegetarian. And that has been going on for 2 weeks and now i am 95 pounds!! And i'm sorta scared because i am not anorexic and yet i look at food and have no desire to eat? and i've lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks? Do you think I'm ok and I can keep on doing this? Or what...?

 

 

Hey girly girl! I'm going to give it to you straight....this isn't healthy. You know, you could a whole plate full of healthy food for lunch, and it would probably amount to the same amount ot calories as a bagel? It's all about what you eat. Bagels aren't good for you. And, by eating something more satisfying, you'll be eating the same amount of calories, and it'll be good for you. Eat a big chicken salad for lunch with light or fat free dressing. Or, bring something from home that you prepare yourself. You shouldn't be afraid of getting fat. If you eat healthier foods start exercising again, then you'll get back to where you were. And, if you do eat junk every now and then, that's ok too. Just work it off afterwards. Everything in moderation!

PLease help me i am 5'5 and 150lbs. i have what they call a muffin top and last week when i went to one yoga class. ... i couldbarely do A push-up HELP!!!!!

I wouldn't have done as much progress as you have, because I'd think, "Hey, maybe I lost enough." You probably lost more weight than you intended to, or more than how much average girls your age need to lose. I know girls my age who say they're "70" pounds. Now that I think about it, it's no wonder that they don't have their period. Usually girls who need to gain more weight don't have their period, but sometimes it's just your hormones. I would talk to your doctor about it if I were you, and about your dark circles? It might be from lack of sleep. Smile
