Stained-Glass Candle Holder

 
Spice up your life (or your bedroom) with this super simple stained glass candle holder.  Easy to make and even easier to enjoy, what a great way to show off your colorful personality…literally!

What you'll need:

Clear Glass Jar/Bottle
Tissue Paper in Assorted Colors
Liquid Glue
Water
Big Paintbrush
Candle

What you'll do:

Clean and dry off your jar.  Mix some glue with a little water so it makes a liquid varnish that can be applied with a paintbrush.  Tear off pieces of tissue paper and paste then one at a time onto the jar using your brush and varnish. Do this until the entire jar is covered. When dry, paint on another layer of glue and let dry.  Place a tea candle inside and enjoy the gorgeous glow.

The rougher the edges and the more the pieces overlap, the better it’ll look, so don’t be afraid of “messing up.”  Experiment with patterned tissue paper for a funkier look.
 
Gift it! Make a few stained glass candle holders--try nesting three different-sized jars inside each other for a cute presentation, or finding some small, plain glass votives at a craft store--for each girl you have in mind, wrap 'em up in cellophane, tissue paper or a gift bag, and add a cute ribbon. Voila!

MOD MOD MOD! my homecoming is next weekend and I have thick curly hair! i dont have the money to get it done at a salon, what should i do?!?! also my hair is very easy to style when its wet, but once it drys, it looks like a toatl frizzy mess. HELP ME!




Hey girlie, get an anti-frizz serum to calm your hair and put it back into a french braid or a bun. Then you can have a great style without the frizz!

MOD! my BFFs bday is the 21st n its her 14th bday so its like, huge, and i have no idea what to get her. I have 1 thing, n its a calendar (but its not as lame as it sounds cuz in 5th gr we n my other BFF made up like fake holidays, so I made them into a calendar) n i have a necklace but i kinda want sumthing else... cuz those are small gifts... help!!

 

When we were 14, my BFFs and I had matching charm bracelets and necklaces! They were so special and I still have mine today! So maybe you should get BFF charms so she can have one and you have the otehr! She'll love it. You  can even get three to include your other BFF!

Sweet! Variation: Put clear stickers on the clean jar, then spray-paint it in a translusent (kinda see-through) color, and let dry. Once dry, peel the stickers off and put the candle inside. The stickers should make clear spots on the jar. Try turning the lights off and watch the pretty shapes move and twist on your wall from the candlelight! So beautiful! I hope someone tries it!

my furniture (bedside table, drawers, etc.) are really outdated but my mom wont let me get new one or paint them. what can i do besides paint them? any ideas??




Hey chickie,

Try updating things around them! Grab a new funky rug to put on the floor, buy or make new curtains in a bright color, and use a brightly colored tablecloth/runner on your tables to dress em up a little. Accessories can make a big difference!

MOD MOD MOD!!! I want my bedroom to stop looking little girl and start making it more teenagish. But my mom wont let me buy new furniture or a new bedspread. My room has light pink and green EVERYWHERe and my Bedspread has a BUNCH of flowers on it, HELP!!!

 

 

Hey there chica, you could always check out a vintage or thrift store in your town for some sweet finds at a great price. Fine a cool afghan or blanket to change things up, or ask your mom if you could paint the walls. Also, you could make a photo collage or bulletin board of you and your BFF's to update it.

hey so i was wondering what are some cool new crafts 2 spice up my bedroom for fall? my room is green with a mural of a woods on the wall so i want 2 make it look more like autumn. any ideas? thanks!



Hmm, maybe you could do something with some fake plants. I have a kind of beachy-themed room, so I have some fake flower strands hanging around my window and my mirror. Maybe you could do something like that with leaves - but I guess that's not really a craft. You could decorate a bulletin board or picture frames to go with the theme, using fabric paint, regular paint or other fun items like colorful buttons or fake leaves. It would also be cool to make a pillow to go on top of your bed from a fabric that you really like. You could make a welcome sign to your room saying "____'s Room" with some autumn leaves surrounding it, or something like that. Good luck!
