by jewels96 on 1/2/2011 10:32:19 PM
@ April J. Just keep practicing and stay on top of your split, and holding it. Don't sit over, or your no longer doing a good split.

i need advice for how to do a perfect split.

@emmy201 ok. im a cheerleader/dancer. lots of stretching. stretching will help all ur jumps. just like my dance teacher said stretch til it hurts then once it doesnt hurt anymore go further and further. it will take time getting all the way to the floor. as for ur cartwheel, i cant do a cartwheel either. i can do a front handspring. they are uber easy. just flip your self forward then go to a handstand then flip back and land. easy as that. just practice practice practice. like 2 months before. if you only have a couple weeks, push it girl. i feel the same way too about it snowing. its cold and everything. but whatever. to run, run up and down ur stairs. dont fall. i hope this advice helpedd! (: love y'all ~peacelovehappiness

I want to try out for cheerleading next year in jr high but i have two problems. I'm pretty sure they don't have a cheerleading squad for 7th graders and i cant even do a perfect cartwheel and i know you have to know a lot more than a cartwheel to be on the squad...and i can't practice anything outside because there is snow and i have a small room i have to share with my sis so all i can do it stretch.
by emmy201 on 12/1/2010 9:29:08 PM
I'm a all-star cheerleader and I've done it for 6 years! here are some tips for u: 1.STRETCH-stretch ur muscels every day as far as they will go bc flexibility is a huge part of jumps and if ur a flyer, u have to be flexible! 2.SMILE-allways be in a good mood! everyone loves to see a happy cheerleader! 3.PRACTICE-tumbling is one of the hardest parts of cheerleading. u have to learn how to do it, get spotted on it until ur ready, get the courage to do it by urself, then perfect it! it honestly took me until this year to get my backhandspring! 4.ENJOY IT-its easy to get carried away with all the work cheer is, but the most important thing is to have fun!!!
by <3kiari on 11/26/2010 10:33:50 PM
I want to join cheer but im sorta afraid too. My mom was a very good cheerleader and i want to follow her, however our school has very weird cheer! They do no tumbling and little stunting, and i only have a coupple friends on the team. Should i go for it next year or just stick to my usual sports??

good luck on trying out! im a cheerleader and just practice what you know and try your hardest when it comes to tryouts. Stay tight and be as happy as you can. Having fun is one of the best things when trying out! Also dont try something that you dont know how to do. It can be very dangerous and you could easily hurt yourself. Good luck!

I hope you make cheerleading it is alot of fun!! I am a cheerleader at my middle school and here are a few tips: 1. Keep your arms and legs very stiff! you might think your a robot but it looks really good(: 2.SMILE! judges/coaches do notice if you are in a good mood or not 3. Have FUN! this sport is amazing and you will LOVE IT! if you make it and if you follow some of the other tips and these girls have put up you are sure to do great! GOOD LUCK!
by wamscheerchick on 10/25/2010 2:01:55 PM
if you want to be a good cheerleader just ask me cuz i am one .. 1. you want to stretch every night or every morning 2. practice cheering and make sure u have stiff moves 3. keep your wrists straight dont bend them 4. practice jumps like dutches and herkeys 5. look clean!
by laughingbunny on 10/23/2010 6:31:29 PM
Hey girl! Cheerleading is so much fun! I have been cheering since i was 7 years old. I have been cheering for my middle school for 2 years and i am a captain this year. Here are some things to work on: -Jumps. Make sure they are high and sharp -Enthusiasm. Everyone needs someone to cheer them up once and a while -School Spirit. On tryout day where your favorite school spirit wear or school colors. -Motions. Make sure you know each one perfect. Have a friend call them out to you really fast to make sure you know them. -BE LOUD! you are a cheerleader be loud and keep on smiling!!! -Facials. A smile is awesome but cute faces that you make in the mirror are a great attention getters. Good Luck! I hope this works! cheerdancegurl <3
by cheerdancegurl on 10/22/2010 1:37:21 PM
Just because you make the team doesn't mean you can be the queen of everything, at first. Hang low for the first 2 practices. Don't try to replace yourself with another really good cart- queeler. Eventually you'll be amazing! Go for an RCA cheer squad, they do better stunts, and they go to compition, school squads have different rules, and they don't go to compitions.

I tried out for cheering for the first time last year. I made varsity, was a flyer, and got voted as captain. Too bad the coach pushed me and pushed me to make me hate it.

i never did cheer and i tried out this year and made the junior varsity team! then made varsity! deff. stretch, do NOT stunt unless u have mats and a coach, always take tumble classes if u need to improve on that, and ALWAYS practice dancing! i never stunted but now i base and front spot for three different stunts!

I tried out for cheering. I took a couple lessons at an all star squad and it really helped. with a toe toach, if u cant get ur legs high enough, try to push ur legs up untill it hurts, thats as high as it can go. thats what i did, at first i coulndst do a toe toach but a month later cheerleaders told me i had an amazing toe toach. make sure when doing cheers your really tight, not sloppy.

Yeah, be careful when you're stunting! One of the flyers on my squad broke both her wrists, and just today a flyer elbowed me in the neck(I'm a backspot). Also, don't tumble without supervision. Our captain broke her hand doing a back handspring, and my friend couldn't try out because she broke her arm doing a round-off a week before tryouts. Soo... be safe!
by kiralee1 on 9/28/2010 11:13:31 PM
Im in cheer, and i love it!! I hate it when ppl say its not a sport, because it is! id like to see those football jocks throw girls 10 ft high, tumble, do jumps, splits, and stunt. I have 4 hours of each each day, and it is so hard, im not even joking you, our routine is constant movement and we have to go over it over and over and over again. turtles_in_aftrica- yeah i get wat your coming from but not all of us are like that. we get thrown off the team if we treat ppl that way. so we're not all that bad.

hey girl! im made my cheer squad for high school! the key:smile! no matter wat even if u mess up! facials are always good too maybe during tryouts mouth the vowels to urself , e a i o u. not in order but they make rly good facials. stretching is good i could touch my toes so i stretched and now i can out my palms flat and do my splits! for toe touches prop ur leg on a couch and lift ur leg without leaning to the side this builds up muscles needed to do toe touches and finally jump with ankle wieghts to get them high! good luck girly u can do it!
by prettyingreen on 9/18/2010 1:23:05 PM
I cheer and stretching is really important. Also your moves need to be sharp and tight. Be loud and smile! Tumbling might help. Have fun!

Whatever you do during tryouts, DO NOT YELL "Whooooo!" You can get docked points, depending on who's judging!

MOD****** Ok, so last year cheerleading was really fun, so this year I tried out again and made it. Last year, I was best friends with this one girl, but this year she moved. Well, this year there are only 5 girls on our squad (counting me) (also 5 on the grade below, i get along with one but we are just friends, not BFF's or anything) and I am in kind of an awkward place right now. I am naturally shy, but last year I kind of came out of it, but now I'm getting shy again because I lost both of my best friends (one moved, the other doesnt talk to me anymore) and on the cheer squad, the other four are nice to me, but they are good friends with each other and kind of forget about me. I was good friends with one of them last year, but this year the girl she is like OBSESSED with (has to be BFF's with) is on the squad, so she won't talk to me. I feel left out and don't really have anyone to hang out with, and it's hard to break into their group. Thanks!

hey i think you should do cheerleading stay positive thats all i dont do cheerleading but i do gymnastics
by gotmilk2 on 9/9/2010 2:27:55 PM
I cheer, and you need to be sharp. Look online for cheer tips and videos that will help. Always clean, make all your movements clean and sharp. Also facials and smiling are a big thing. Always smile. Also, be loud and spirit, but do not say woo!! Tumbling may be important, but if you can't, just focus on the basics, like perfect your cartwheel, or just work on jumps.
by lilgirlyme on 9/9/2010 2:26:38 PM
by summersistah123321 on 9/9/2010 1:49:35 PM
i am a cheerleader and one of the MOST important things is staying sharp!!! if your arms are sharp then everything looks cleaner!!! also smiling is HUGE! if you are supposed to spirit afterword do NOT NOT NAWWWWTTTTT say whooo! that is a cheer swearword. and most of all just have fun while cheering. if you dont have tons of fun then why tryout? hope i helped! <3 cheerleader gurlie
