ADVICE | DEAR CAROL

My boarding school roommate is driving me nuts

 
 

I live in a dorm at boarding school. My roommate is not very hygienic, and I have to be like a mom to her. I have to pull her out of bed in the morning, and tell her when to bathe and clean her side of the room. I’ve talked to her but to no avail.

 

Dear Not Her Mom,

Tell your resident advisor. It’s her job to help your roommate take care of herself and her area. Also, suggest your roommate get an alarm clock. If she oversleeps, it’s her problem—not yours. Try positive reinforcement when she does something right: “Thanks for putting your shoes away.” Remember, learning to live with different people is part of your education.

MOD MOD MOD! My best friend got a new boyfriend and i'm really happy for her because she's happy but now she never talks to me anymore. She's too caught up with her boyfriend. Sometimes it feels like her boyfriend pays more attention to me than she does. I really miss her.

 

 

Hey girly! I would make it a point to talk to your bff and let her know how you feel! Maybe you both could set aside time each week, or a few times a week, to do fun things, with no boys allowed.

MOD MOD MOD! ok ive been having alot of trouble presenting infront my class. i always get really nervous, like super nervous. either my voice starts shaking or i talk really loud! and i cant help it like nothing helps! do you have any tips? cuz i have to present something in a couple of days and its in the class with all the preps! ugg i hate presenting so much!

 

 

Hey girly girl! The most important thing is to make sure that you're well prepared, and well rested the night before, so that you have one less thing to be nervous about. Take notecards, or index cards with bullet points up with you to reference in case you lose your train of thought while speaking (that's what I do!).

HEY!!!my name is jordyn im in the seventh grade n im 13....so i have 2 sisters n me living with my single mom n my mom is always stugling with money my mom culdnt pay the rent soo we have to move frum colorado to idaho i was born in idaho so im excited to go back home but im always the new girl everytime we move.im worried about how to act or dress cuz i dnt want people to think im wierd...i always have stress on my showlders n everyone tells me im to young to be worried???i guess im just confused on how to handle all this??got any help for me??
