Should I Carry a Pad in My Purse?

Check these out, too...

  • Pad prob! How do I get them from my locker to the bathroom?
  • Have a happier period--yes, really!--with our playlist
  • Does it hurt when you first get your period?
  • I need longer pads! How do I tell Mom?
  • What stinks down south?
I just went to the doctor, and he asked if I have my period yet. I said no—I'm only 10 years old! He said I will probably get my period when I’m 12. What should I do to prepare? My mom suggested putting a pad in my purse.

Knowing when you will get your period is difficult. The best way you can prepare for it is to learn a lot about it. Be totally prepared for when that special day comes by talking with your mom or any female relative.

We are always ready to give advice and help you know more about what your period means. If you are only 10 and he said that you will get it when you are 12, you don’t have to worry about it now—you still have plenty of time. But keep in mind that there isn’t a total science to the whole when-will-I-get-my-period thing. Your doc gave you his best bet, but it could still come earlier or later.

If you want to be prepared, carrying a pad in your purse when you turn 12 or a little before is a great idea. Since it’s hard to predict when the day will come, don’t think about it too much or let it worry you. It’s a part of our womanhood that we all must go through.

Mod~ OK I've been gettin discharge for about 6 months. I have HORRIBLE cramps like every day almost. Is my period coming?

Discharge usually comes 6 months to a year before your period, so it could be possible.  But you usually on get cramps a few days before your period.  If they last longer than that, you should check with your doc.

MOD~ Help! I have been getting discharge for like 4-6 months and have cramps every other day. Will I get my period soon? If yeah, how can I be prepared and what are some other signs of my period? Thanks! Smile

Hey girl, You usually get discharge 6 months to a year before you start your period, so it could be coming soon.  Every bod is different though, so you might want to talk it over with your doc.  He/she could give you a better idea of what you expect.  As for being prepared, stick a few pads in a discreet bag and store them in your purse or locker so you'll be ready just in case. Smile

ya, carry a pad in your purse, and for school, your backpack. I had a pad in my back pack from the day I started pueberty. It helps, especially if you get it in school, because then you don't have the akwardness of going to the school nurse. Keep it in a pocket you don't really use so its all alone and people won't dig it up if you ask them to put something in your pack for you. Also, If you are allowed, keep a tampon too. That way once you get you period and you might need it, you have it. Its better to be over prepared than under
