3 More Ways to Make Halloween a Li'l Healthier

No one’s saying you have to skip the candy completely (well, maybe your dentist), but we’ve got a few ways make sure Halloween isn’t totally scary for your healthy-girl routine.


Get in an extra workout.
Before you go trick-or-treating or to a Halloween bash, get in a serious sweat sesh. Sure, you might have some last-minute costume alterations, but you’ll feel a lot better if you stop making excuses and lace up those sneakers. Since this spooky day falls on a weekend, you’ve got plenty of time to exercise for at least an hour before you’ve gotta dash.

Remember: there’s more out there than Snickers bars.
When you’re surrounded by candy, cupcakes and cookies, it’s easy to forget about all the healthy treats out there. But your fridge is likely still stocked with lots of other healthy foods, so dig in. If you’re going to a party, be the girl who brings along awesome cut fruit and some yogurt for dip. Or hit up the sliced carrots before you nosh on the not-so-healthy snacks.


Brush up (totally) before bed.
With all that sugar, taking care of your teeth is key. Don’t forget to rinse, floss and even brush your tongue. Before you say “ew” think about this: it’ll remove plaque and bacteria, which can build up while you’re asleep, and prevent cavities and icky bad breath, according to Dr. Smigel. Don’t let sweets destroy your pearly whites.
