5 Ways to Get Out of a Funk

Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Feelin’ bummed out after school? We’ve got a few super speedy ways to feel better fast. Get ready to watch your mood soar.

Get down with the DIYs.
Pouring yourself into a project is an instant upper. Volunteer to cook din (breakfast for supper, anyone?), whip up a batch of brownies for your BFF or update your scrapbook. Letting those creative juices flow will make you feel fab.

 
Rock out.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever put on your most emo playlist when you’re upset (you can see it, but my arm just shot up). Instead of wallowing, make a serious effort to flip your mood by cranking some of your favorite tunes. Oh, and don’t play songs that’ll remind you of exes. That’s just a mess in the making. Tops on my list at the moment? Old-school picks, like Ben Folds Five’s take on Video Killed the Radio Star and Vampire Weekend’s A-Punk, and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. Bonus points for dancing around your room like a goofball.

Talk to your mom.
Yep, chatting it up with Mama Bear may help calm stress (there’s actual science to prove it). So build up those mother/daughter bonds by letting your mom know what’s on your mind. Who knows? Maybe she dealt with similar drama when she was your age.

Run around.
When you’re battle the true blues, it can be tough to get out there and work up a sweat. That said, exercise is a total mood booster. Take a deep breath, pull on your fave fitness clothes and exercise for 20 minutes. Hello, energizing.
 

Be sweet for someone else.
Write a note to your grandma, rake leaves in the yard, watch the movie your little bro has been begging you to see with him (for the millionth time). Doing something nice for someone else will give your mind a break from your probs and put the focus on someone else. Betcha making a friend or family member smile will bring a grin to your face, too.

MOD MOD MOD Okay, so I've been dating this guy (that I crushed on forever!) for a week. The first few days were great-we texted and talked 24/7. But last night I suggested we see a movie together and he never replied. I waited a while and tried to text him, but no reply! I was frustrated, so I just turned off my phone. I was trying not to obsess over my text messages lol. But today I saw him at school for like two minutes (field trip) and we barely talked. Then when I got home, he texted me "hey." and i replied. but he never answered! i'm really confused, and don't like confrontation. i would never call him out on it, but I really don't want to break up over something so small. Please help! Thanks Smile

 

 

Hey girly girl! Although it's hard not to, I wouldn't worry too much yet. Maybe he's stressing about something else. If he continues to act like this for a few more days, then I'd ask him about it, in person. I know you don't like confrontation, but sometimes, it's neccessary. Be nice about it, but just ask him what's up lately, and if something has been bothering him.

MOD MOD MOD i just found out im going trick or treating w/ my frends. not a prob rite? wrong! i dont hav a costume! my frend suggested i go as a ninja bcuz its simple. so i think i found a good costume: black shirt black converse black leggings(stretch all the way down 2 my ankles) black socks a cloth 2 use as a mask the only rpoblem is i found a skirt, but its kinda like a flowy skirt. i think it would look stupid. so i waz thinking i could either wear my black skinny jeans instead(which i dont really wanna do), just wear the skirt, or go out and buy a normal black skirt. wat should i do? thx!!Smile

MOD MOD MOD MOD I have realy big calves. They're all muscle cuz im a runner, but i get cramps in them all the time still :-((. Are there any clothes i can wear to make them appear smaller? any way to just make em look smaller? Or actually...MAKE them smaller?? haha thanks!

 

 

Hey girl! To prevent the cramps, make sure to stretch before and after you run. As for making calves smaller, pilates is a great exercise to give your bod a long and lean look. Also, check out these ideas Smile
