Ready for tampons--how do I tell Mom?

I want to start using tampons but I don’t know how to tell my mom when we’re at the store. Can you tell me what to say?

For some reason, it can be really awkward to talk to moms about body stuff. After all, anything you’re going through, she’s already gone through. Your mom is gonna understand more than anyone else and chances are, she wants you to come to her with your questions.

In order to avoid an in-store tampon convo, just grab your mom before you leave or on the way to the store and tell her you’d like to pick up some tampons while you’re there. It might feel embarrassing enough to buy tampons or pads, so avoid having that discussion in public, too.

Your mom probably won’t think it’s weird at all that you want to start using tampons, and if you need pointers on how to use them, that’s something you should also ask her. That’s what moms are for!

but like what should i say to my mom the exact words and i am scared i just think it would be wierd i am scared to have it in school PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey girl! I'm assuming that you're referring to your period in this case. Every girl is scared to have it in school, so don't worry- you're not alone! Just try and be prepared for it because you never know when you might get it. Keep a tampon or pad in your purse or bookbag just incase. As far as talking to your mom, you could bring up the issue and say, "Hey mom, I'm really nervous about getting my period, and I'd like some advice on the issue." If you feel like you're not getting enough feedback from her, you can always talk to a school nurse or a doctor about it!

MOD MOD MOD!! i am very athletic. im involved in a lot at my school and i want to tell my mom to buy me tampons but im a little embarrassed to tell her too her face. would it be weird if i stayed home and i asked her over texts while she was at the store?

Hey chica! Moms are girls, too! Don't be emberrased! She knows that you either have your period or are going to get it soon. Find her when she is at home and tell her you have to ask her something (maybe when your dad is not in the room-how awakward!) and tell her that you think tampons would be much more comfortable for you when playing sports. Do your research! Maybe even show her an article you found online about tampons working better for athletes! Good luck, girlie!

MOD MOD MOD MOD i don't know what to do! my best friend is having a birthday party at great wolf lodge tomorrow which is a hotel with a huge waterpark. that's like all we're going to do is swim but today i got my period! i have failed at tampons and i obviously can't use pads in the pool. is there any way i can swim without a tampon? i don't want to sit out the whole night!

I just started my period, but I want to skip the mess with the pads. I want to use a tampon. The only problem is, the applicator looks HUGE!! Will it be uncomfortable? HELP!!
