Megan Kent isn’t your average girl. At just 10 years old, she’s started her own T-shirt line, Love Gone apparel, and has big plans for expanding the franchise in the future. Between designing the graphics and overseeing their production, Megan has her hands full. At roughly 30 dollars a pop, she’s on her way to a mini-mogul future!

When she’s not designing T-shirts, Megan can be found practicing gymnastics, shopping and swimming. Watch out world – Love Gone could be the next big thing.

GL talks with Megan to learn what goes into creating a fashion line, what inspires her and more.

GL: Can you tell me about your T-shirt line?

Megan: I came up with the company about a year ago and it’s taken about a year to make the line.

GL: What inspires your designs?

My friends. I know their style, and I know a lot of people like their style, so I try to go from there. I wanted the company to have something to do with love, so I came up with the name “Love Gone.”

GL: Do you design the prints? How?

I design them, test them on shirts and then order the shirts in bulk. I draw them on paper. Right now there is only one main design, but I’m working on a new one right now. It involves a broken heart with the words “Love Gone.”

GL: Do you have a website?

You can find the T-shirts at lovegoneapparel.com. It tells you about the company and you can also shop online.

GL: Where do you like to shop? What do you like to wear?

My three main stores are: Hollister California, Aeropostle and American Eagle. I’m often inspired by what I see.

GL: How do you see your business growing in the future?

I think this is going to be a very successful company – I hope one day we’ll be in magazines. Hopefully we’ll eventually move onto jeans and jackets.

GL: What’s the most fun part of Love Gone?
There are two fun parts: One is designing, and second is waiting for the shirts to come in and see the finished product.

GL: Do you see yourself in fashion when you’re older?

I love fashion, and want to go into it when I’m older. I want this to be a really successful company. I want to stick with designing.

I love that this girl is going after her dream. But, honestly, in my opinion, I don't like the designs. And 30 bucks for a shirt! That's outragous! I could get shirts that I personally like way better for like, $8-$12. I wish her luck, buut I'm not buying a shirt of hers.

OK, I'm all for her making her dream real. But if we all can get a grip on the real world, you have to realize that this isn't someone you can just have. You need money, and lots of it.

30 dollars for a tee shirt like that? I honestly think it's great she's pursuing her dream (even if she is a little young), but even the higher quality Hollister tees are less expensive... Hers are roughly the same price as Abercrombie & Fitch's.

It's cool that she wants to start her own line so young but the shirts aren't anything special, all of them look like the one she is wearing. If I were her, I would experiment with different designs to add more variety to the line.

I agree with celesse. Although a t-shirt line for a 10 year old may be fun, it's a bit quick and jumping the gun. Most kids her age interested in fashion are usually designing on CafePress and stuff.

i think that, even though it takes a rich girl to do all that, she has a great idea. i appreciate businesses relating clothes because I buy and sell clothes online for profit. and starting at ten is a great idea, because she can target girls her age. she has a future of being filthy rich if she keeps this up,if anyone actually WANTS what she makes. And just so you know, I was really surprised at all the mean comments some of you posted! yeah maybe you could never do that, but if she loves fashion and wants do do something early, i say she should go for it! no sense sitting around doing boring stuff if you have the drive for this kinda thing.

She has the same name as me ;) MOD!!! I can't decide wether or not to cut my hair! The hair style I want is the same one as Justin Bieber's love interest in the One Time music video, except I would have side bangs. I think it would look good on me. Right now, I have what alot of people call the "Rocker" haircut. It's about 5 inches longer than my shoulders, and I like this haircut, too, but I've had it for about a year. Idk what to do! Thank uu!

Hey girly! If you want to, then why not change it up? If you don't like it, it'll always grow back. I say go for it Smile

I give the girl credit for jumping right into it, but honestly I've seen plenty of shirts like that and $30 is a lot for a shirt that i could get for like $8 elsewhere. I agree with ashley19rose in that my parents might encourage me to pursue a goal, but to start a clothes line at 10 years old is just jumping the gun if you ask me. Im just hoping that her dreams arent crushed when she finds out just how hard it is to actually get into something like this...but whatever. Thats just my opinion.

report

by Celesse on 11/21/2010 4:12:30 PM

OK, these are really cool shirts, but this girl is way too spoiled. I mean, do you know how much many it costed to do that? My parents would never do that and nobody I know would ethier. She's way too young for this sort of thing. I think 10 year olds don't have a good idea of fashion.
