To cut or not to cut

I have been through a lot of stress and considered cutting myself. Please help.

Dear To Cut of Not to Cut,

No, no, no, don’t cut yourself! That will not help anything. I’m sorry you’ve been stressing, but there are healthy ways to relieve stress. Spill all in your diary. Make art. Eliminate activities you aren’t totally into to free up your schedule. Go to bed earlier. Walk with a friend or parent. Take up running or a sport. Instead of hurting yourself, take care of yourself. And above all, find someone to talk to, like a school counselor or understanding aunt or older friend, or talk to your parents about seeing a therapist. You don’t have to feel this way.

MOD!!
i've been WAY too emotional lately. i had been blaming it on my period, but it ended a few days ago. The past three weeks i've been overreacting to everything and it's made me feel tired and sick. i even cried just because my boyfriend said he couldn't hang out today. and it's not like he canceled or anything, we didn't even have plans! is there a reason i'm so emotional, and more importantly, how can i stop?!

Hey girl. It probably has to do with the weather and your period. I wouldn't worry about it. You should be back to normal-especially with the holidays coming! Hang in there girl.

Hey Honey! i know what youre going through! You do NOT want to cut, trust me. I used to cut and i still have about 30 scars all over one of my arms. It's horrible because i want to hide them so nobody freaks out, cuz it wa a year ago, so i cant wear hort sleeves without 100 braclet or a jacket....just dont please! You might think it will help, but in the end, it only makes the situation worse! you could get scars or this girl who went to my school was hospitalized for over a week cuz she cut too deep. If you have any questions or need advice, feel free to get a hold of me!
~Love ya!

MOD MOD MOD
one of my best friends cuts herself sometimes. not her wrists but like her arms and legs. mostly where she says her parents wont see it. im really worried about her and i tell her not to cut herself. one of her friends has a big problem with cutting. shes the one that got her to start in the first place. im really worried about her. but i dont know what to do. i dont really want to tell anybody becuz i dont want to get her in trouble but i want her to be safe... should i just not say anything?? what should i do??

Hey girl,

You have to think carefully about this situation. You might not want to get her in trouble because she'll get mad or not trust you for a while, but if she's feeling depressed to the point where she's actually hurting herself, you never know what she'll do next. The best thing to do would be to talk to one of your parents and/or one of her parents. Explain to them the situation and let them know that you think she needs help. This isn't one of those things that a girl can handle on her own, even though I know you're a great friend - by telling an adult you trust, they can make sure she gets the help she really needs. <3
