Wrap it up right with newspaper

 
In our December/January 2010 issue, GL's editors spilled their favorite holiday crafts, recipes and DIY gifts.
 
This year, we're bringing them back, just in time for the holidays! Here's online editor Katie A.'s how-to for keeping your gift wrapping an eco-friendly affair.
 
Materials:
Magazines
A sheet of newspaper
Glue
Scissors
Tape
A present that needs to be wrapped

Instructions:
Carefully rip colorful pages of the magazines. Cut the pages lengthwise, creating 1-inch strips. Glue some of the strips together, until you have a few yards of “ribbon.” Let it dry. Wrap the present in the newspaper, using tape to keep it in place. When the ribbons are dry, wrap it around the present. Then, loop some magazine strips to create a bow, gluing them onto the box as you go. Cover the center of the bow with a circle of cute paper or a fake flower.

Or you can google oragami instructions and make a whole bunch of gifts , rectangular ones or square or triangle!! :] I make them all the time for birthdays and holidays! :]

I just did this for my BFF it turned out amazing! I felt like Martha Stewart haha Smile Just know that this is very time consuming and requires some patience (it took me longer to wrap the present then to make it!) But all in all, super adorable. I would probably recommend using this for friends that are girls because, like @bff61 said, you don't really want to give your uncle or grandfather or dad or boyfriend a present that is wrapped in Seventeen magazine!! THANKS GL! <3

For Christmas 2009, my Mom and I collected the colored comincs from the Sunday paper and wrapped birthday, and Christmas presents with it. It is a cool wayto recycle and before everyone opened their presents they were reading them! It is very cute!
