I swim 5 days a week for 2 hours on weekdays and 3 and one half hours on weekends. We swim a minimum of 4 miles per practice unless we are tapering for big swim meets, when we swim about 3 miles per practice or less and work on teqnique. at the 3 hour practices we do 1 hour of dry lie that consits of about an 300 push ups, 500 crunches, 100 squat jumps, and 10 minutes of planks. It is ard but realy fun and i would highly reccomend swimmming to anyone. The good thing about it is the schedule is custimizable and offers coaching for more competive and less competive groups. Swimming at a gym works too to get you in shape and fit looking, even if you cant go really fast or for long distances. It is all about what you are capable of doing! <3 Camie

I don't excersize a lot...but I'm hoping to run every day after school for 30 minutes when the snow melts. Also I'll be in track in about 2 months....should be ok, right?
by jojojoy on 1/11/2011 11:39:34 AM
I do gymnastics 4 days a week for 4 hours straight. That 16 hours a week, I think i'm good. Plus I am gunna start to go for 20 hours a week.
by gymnast81346 on 1/9/2011 2:58:59 PM
I don't excersize very much LOL.... I will, as soon as I can ride my bike again.
by horsie9000 on 1/3/2011 3:54:29 PM
During the fall I had feild hockey practice every day after school for 3 hours! It was long and I hated that, but I think we did get enough exercise most of the time cause even though there are talks and drills that we have to wait for and stuff, 3 hours is a long time so we def don't just do nothing.
by skatefun on 12/30/2010 11:39:30 AM
Volleyball practice for me is 2.5 hours. We definitely get at least an hour of exercise during that time... but probably more.
by ash_bash08 on 12/29/2010 12:05:31 PM
I play tennis pretty competitively and I also practice at a place and we are constantly playing. Our coaches talk to us but not long and we are always playing. We dont have to wait in line much for drills because there are enough courts. When we are waiting we are doing something to do with footwork. So Im pretty sure I have the 60 minutes.
by tennis1997 on 12/29/2010 11:38:23 AM
I do track, cross-country, and tennis. I think I'm good! ;)
by beachykeen709 on 12/28/2010 7:14:02 PM
I do cross country. There is no waiting in line for drills we do it all at the same time and there is no delaying on the running part you run about six to seven miles a day continuously. There is no stopping. Pretty sure thats a good 60 minutes ;)

I'm a level 8 gymnast. I train around 10 hours Monday to Friday then all day Saturday. I'm pretty sure I'm getting enough exercise.
by Inthenearfuture on 12/23/2010 9:55:48 AM
i play softball, and we spend 2 and a half hours on the field warming up doing drills, and we only (all together) spend about 10-20 min. discussing so i think i'm good.
by katiekakes8 on 12/23/2010 12:16:54 AM
I've heard that 60 minutes a day is way too much and that 20 minutes of keeping your heart rate up without stopping is enough.

60 minutes a day? I'm pretty sceptical, I've read in TONS of places that 20 minutes cuts it, and if you ran for 60 minutes (i probably can't) you would make up for more than the calories you ate that day if your a healthy eater, and that's just anorexicish!

wow that is so not like our teams at my school. We usually run and do our warm ups then have the coahc tell us what we have to do and we have 2+ hour practices and a lot of people i know lose a lot of weight during the eason and eat healthier, and defintiely get enough workout time.No matter what thoug we have to take PE
by track star!!!running is my game and I am music addicted !!! on 12/12/2010 3:01:31 PM
Wow! who only does that less than one hour?!? I swim (around 6 miles) 4 days a week in two hours and I do tumbling for 1 hour on the other school day. and I usually am doing SOMETHING active-ish on saturday and on Sunday we rest (because it's the Lord's day) so girls that don't do much physical activity get out there! set your mind to it! you're young you'll recover if it seems as if you'll never make it, challenge yourself! well I don't know how hard golf is though, it must be tough...and foot ball, but still
by i_luv_devin on 12/9/2010 11:19:27 PM
I workout a whole lot.
by i_luv_devin on 12/9/2010 11:18:52 PM
I know they aren't getting enough exercise, the people in my school one guy is on the foot ball team and he doesn't have to run or do push ups during P.E. And a girl who plays golf has no P.E.
by i_luv_devin on 12/9/2010 11:18:26 PM
wow! this statistic seems so wrong and misled. they must not know what we have to DO during practice.? first of all, being on my high school JV team, my basketball practice is an hour. Who does just 30 minutes? Second, even if you only do 30 minutes, all the walking you do in a day adds up to basically 60 minutes.
by JeNNY101 on 12/9/2010 10:23:37 PM
A lot of people think dance isn't hard but it is!! I dance 15 hours each week and sometimes i don't get lunch on Saturdays
by Jounga on 12/9/2010 10:01:32 PM
I'm, a horse back rider, and everyone thinks riding isn't enough exercise! But it is really hard, and sweat provoking
by lillibug618 on 12/9/2010 1:10:34 PM
I'm on the swim team, so there's no waiting for drills. We do a ton of continuous swimming. We may stop for half a minute to see what our next workout is, but that's about it. Also, I have practice every day after school for 2 and a half hours, so I think I'm okay. That's why I love being a swimmer.
by kenzie801 on 12/9/2010 1:03:44 PM
Lots of scientists say that doing too much exercise (excessive) can weaken the immune system. Not exercising does the same thing, but too much is also bad. 1 hour a day seems a bit excessive, but I'm not sure of the actual figures. I think I'll just stick to exercising for like an hour or two a few times a week.
