Caramelized bananas

Warm up after a day playing in the snow with so-yummy caramelized bananas. Donna Mintz, the personal chef and personal trainer behind basilandbarbells.com, shared this holiday-ready recipe with GL. They’re super speedy to make, so you could whip them up for a school-night treat, too.

Ingredients:

2 large bananas
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

To prepare the bananas, peel and slice into 1/4" thick pieces. Heat the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. When the butter is melted add the honey, vanilla and cinnamon and stir to combine. Add the bananas and stir to coat. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so the mixture doesn’t burn. To serve, spoon into cups.

DELICIOUS!!! I made this as soon as I read this article and I just took my first bite. It doesn't take too long but tastes really good!!! I substituted regular white sugar for the honey. I'm eating it in a mug with whipped cream Smile

MODMODMOD My friend and I are having a sleepover and going shopping this weekend. I'm really worried, because I'm trying to eat healthy and exercise more, to get a head start on my New Years resolution. There's a Mr. Smoothie and a Starbucks in the mall we're going to, and I figured I could just get a smoothie or a small tea to snack on. Do you think these are good healthy picks, or do Starbucks teas have too much caffeine, carbs, or sugar? Do you think the smoothies would have too many added sugars? Also, how do I eat healthy at her house? Thanks bunches!

Hey chica! I'm not sure about Mr. Smoothie, but depending on what you get, Starbucks doesn't have to be that bad. Skinny vanilla lattes (with skim milk and no whip cream) are a pretty good choice. Also, if you get tea with sweet'n'low or Splenda, that's not bad either. As for snacking, the biscottis that they have at the register are a good choice. And remember, it doesn't hurt to splurge every now and then too Smile

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!
Do you have any ideas for good (and healthy!) recipes? I want to eat healthier, but we always have junk food around the house, so when I'm hungry, and it is just sitting right there, I figure, "why not eat it?". How do i stop that? Thanks so much!! Happy holidays!!

MOD MOD MOD
So I just finished working out, and I wanted a banana with peanut butter, but I noticed my bananas are brown and super gross-looking. Would it still be a healthy-ish snack to make a banana smoothie with low-fat (double churned) vanilla ice cream? I would use yogurt, but I have none.

Hey girlie. Yeah that sounds good.

i have another recipe that will warm u up immediately. get plantains (ask ur parents to buy them cuz they shood no wat they are) and peel them. cut them vertically after peeling (see the picture? do it the other way wit this recipe) add oil to a skillet (vegetable oil would be good) and once the oil is hot enough, add the plantains. wen their a nice goldish brownish on one side, flip them over. take them off the pan and place them on a plate wen they are done. add a little pile of regular sugar so u can dip the plantains in the sugar to sweeten em up. enjoy!
