Ditch those stick-straight strands for red-carpet inspired curls that’ll dazzle this season. Here’s how to get amazing ringlets for all those soirees and dates in seconds. Don’t worry, curly girls, we have tips for you, too!

If you’ve got 20 mins to get ready
OK, we’re soo into these teeny set of rollers. You can toss them in your tote and do your hair right before Grandma serves up dinner. Start by rolling the hair on the top of your head into the curlers (don’t worry if your locks aren’t squeaky clean!). Then, clip each roller place. Continue all the way around your head until your hair is all clipped up. Let the rollers cool. Carefully unwind hair, starting at the bottom of your head. Loosen with your fingers and hit strands with hairspray. Ta dah!

If your party is tomorrow
Wanna get a jumpstart on your style? Go to bed with foam rollers in your hair. You’ll wake up, shake out that mane and have pretty hair while you’re unwrapping prezzies (or at dinner). Start with damp hair. Apply some mousse. Roll your locks up in foam rollers—they’re totally inexpensive and can be found at a drugstore. Remember: the smaller the roller, the tighter the curl. We like bigger ones, for bouncier curls.

Then, hit the sack. In the morning, blast your hair with a blow-dryer on a low setting to finish drying. Unroll the curlers. Apply some smoothing cream and you’re done.

If you’ve got curls or waves
If you just hopped out of the shower, apply some curl lotion and let hair air dry or blow it out with a diffuser. Before your bash, use a wand-style curling iron (it won’t have a clip) to touch up those ringlets. Use the curling iron on any hair that’s misbehaving or is straighter than the rest of your strands (we aren’t sure how that happens, either). Spritz on some hairspray and keep your hands outta those curls all night. Gorge!

I have naturally curly hair, but I don't how it looks when I wear it curly. I like how it looks when I curl it with an iron, but I'm really bad at doing it so unless my sisters available I'm hopeless. I tried using curlers but my hair holds the curls unbelievably well and I hate ringlets!! Is there any way I could use curlers without ending up with ringlets?

Please help me.I am african american and want long hair.I have medium hair.I really need long tresses in time for school!

Hey girlie,

Try calling your hairdresser's salon and asking them your questions! They're experts and, if you tell them what you want, I bet they'll be able to talk to you about lots of options, including extensions/a weave. There's no way to actually grow your hair faster (I wish!), so chat with them and see if any of those options could work for you <3

MODMODMOD! I have super straight hair that's two inches past my shoulder, it won't curl. I use a curling iron and hold I small section of hair around the barrel for about 30 seconds. The curl stays for about ten minuets even if I use mousse or hairspay. What am I doing wrong? Or does my hair just have to be curled with hot rollers?

Hey stylista!

Try using curling gels, such as Garnier Fructis' Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel, to hold your locks in curls. Using hot rollers also seems like an effective option. Good luck!

MOD! Okay, so here's my problem. My hair is past my shoulders a bit. So not short, or super super long. It's thick and straight. I got my first curling iron a while ago and for month I have been testing it, yet to maintain a perfect curl! I'm hopeless! How do you recommend curling my hair a few times a week with out getting permanent damage? Thx Smile

Hey girly,

You can try using conditioner when you wash your hair, but the best way to prevent permanent damage is to try to keep the curling down to only a couple times a week.
