A red-carpet inspired workout


NikkiFitness shared some of her fave moves for shaping up like the celebs. Perform this circuit three times for a fab, total-body toning workout. Grab a pair of 10 pound weights and get started. Don’t have a 10-lb weight? A gallon of water comes close. And remember: you might want to start with lighter weights if you’re new to working out.

Move 1: Cardio Squat Thrusts
Crank that music, girl. Nikki suggests doing this move to an 8 count with your favorite up-‚Äč‚Äčtemp music. Do jumping jacks on counts 1 and 2. Then squat down and touch the ground and jump back into a plank (that’s when you’re in a push-up position with your bod tight) for counts 3 and 4. Jump back up to stand for counts 7 and 8. Do ten reps.

Move 2: French Press Calf Raises
Start standing with your feet at hips-width, with a 10-lb weight held with two hands over your head. Nikki says to lower the weights behind your head, keeping elbows and triceps in tight (near your face). “Press back up for one rep and as you lift the weight, rise up onto the balls of your feet,” she tells us. “Lower on to our heels as you lower the weight each time.” Do ten reps.


Move 3: Reach For The Stars
Start with 5-10 pound weights in each hand. Lift your right hand out to shoulder level. “Bend to your left, sliding left hand and weight down your leg as you push the right hand weight to the sky.” Make sure to keep your core tight the entire time. Return to standing and lower your arm. Repeat 10 times on each side.

Move 4: Plank Rows
Grab two 5-10 pound weights. “Support yourself on top of them in a plank position, hands directly under shoulders and toes on the ground, knees lifted. Your heels, hips and shoulders should form a straight line, like a plank or a board,” Nikki says. “From here, lift the right weight off the ground to your ribcage and push your elbow to the sky.” Lower back down to start and repeat on the other side. Perform 10 reps on each side.
