Hints on how to ask him out - and get a "yes!"


Thinking of the perfect thing to say to that cute boy who sits next to you in math is tough, and if you’re one of those gals whose got the spring fling in mind rather than factorials than these tips to snag a date are for you!

Be perceptive but don’t overanalyze
You can’t just walk up to a boy and ask him out, you have to get to know him! Introduce yourself next time you’re in the same circle of friends and start chatting about school and interests. See what he likes. Once you get to know him a little better you’ll know if he’s the perfect date for the dance or the perfect buddy to watch an action flick with. But don’t go crazy, chica, he doesn’t need a stalker on his hands. Just ‘cause you want to get to know him doesn’t mean you have to obsess over his every move to see if he likes you.

Respond to his signals
If he catches your eye and smiles, meets you after class or walks with you in the halls and lingers before leaving your side, those are sure signs he’s into you. If you think he’s into you then you’re guaranteed to get a yes when you ask him out, but if you’re not quite sure try a few tests…

The friend test
If you don’t know how he feels but want to ask him out, ask your friends to watch you guys talking next time. Sometimes it takes an outsider’s perspective to pick up on the little things. If your friends say he looked into you, that’s a good sign, and you should go for it.

Test the waters
If you want a date for the weekend and the week is almost over, it’s time to throw out some not so subtle suggestions. Ask him what he’s doing, if he says nothing and smiles then say you’re free too and that you should hang out or catch the new movie that’s playing. If he says he’s busy and seems to dodge the question, than it’s not looking too good, but if he tells you exactly what his plans are, like basketball practice or a family birthday, then he’s interested and he really is busy. Ask when the next time he’s free will be, and if you’re lucky he’ll pick up on your thought and ask you out first!

I like this guy, but he's pretty popular. I sit next to him in 2 classes. He seems like a really sweet guy, and he flirts with me. Well, I think it's flirting anyway. He gives me a look that makes me blush and totally makes me all butterflyie. He always is SOOOO nice but I tried texting him and he doesn't reply. He knows who I am but he says his pone doesn't work. Gosh my bffs love him too and I can't get over he's going to see me in the Talent Show! I'm Singing One Thing by 1D. And if he sees it, he won't like me anymore! Help help help help!!!!

Hey girlie,

If he is dating your friend and told you he's not interested in a relationship, it's best to stay friends with him for now. If she's your bff, I'm sure deep down you want her to be happy, even if it hurts right now! Try being supportive of them and hanging out in a group of other friends when you see them so you don't feel like a third wheel, and focus on schoolwork and family/friend relationships to take your mind off of him. There might also be some cuties at your school who you hadn't considered before, so keep your options open!

It's totally normal for guys to be on-and-off sometimes. It's not always the case, but sometimes they just approach texting/talking differently than we do! It seems like he's nice to you, you have a lot in common, and he's flirty most of the time. Keep talking to him and letting him get to know you better. Hang out if you can and compliment/tease him in a playful way. Over time, you'll get a better idea of where his head is at... and then you can decide if you wanna tell him or not Smile

So there's this guy I've known for like 3 years now, and I've had a crush on him for pretty long. Anyway, we both were really close at first but then we kinda "drifted apart" I guess? .. but then we became kinda close friends this year and he's been acting pretty different than before. Hey girlie,

You could try to make a joke about it the next time someone asks if you're dating. Say something like, "Geez if everyone thinks we're dating, maybe we should just go out on a date to show them what it would be like!" and laugh a little bit. That plants the idea in his head and shows him that you might not say no if he asked you out, which is a huge concern for guys. But he also could just like you as a friend and, if so, he probably will just laugh this suggestion off and continue on to something else. It's a win-win Smile

One day all the guys were playing this dating game and were asking out random girls and this other guy asked me if I wanted to go out with my crush and I said no cuz I knew it wuz a joke. Hey girlie! A good way to show a guy you like him is to ask him out. Use the techniques in this article. He wouldn't say yes if he didn't like you too. Although there a bunch of different ways to tell a guy you like him, sometimes if you just want to be straightforward with him. Of course, you don't want to use that type of technique if you're not already really comfortable with him. Make sure you get to know each other well first!

Hey girlie! You said you've noticed signs that he likes you, but there's no way to know for sure if a guy likes you unless you ask. If you keep spending time with him, it's possible he'll let you know how he feels without your asking. Also, you should make sure that it's cool with your friend before you make any moves.

Hey girl, If you really wanna be friends, you just gotta push through the awkward part - it's pretty normal that it feels weird when you start talking again.  Don't bring up issues from the past, just talk about things you have in common - whether that's movies or just plans for the weekend.  Think about how you talk with other friends, and try to copy that - since that's what you hope to have eventually with him, too.  Good luck!

Sometimes the best way to get a straight answer is to be straight with him in the first place. That means not asking someone else to talk about you, ask if he likes you, or ask him out... but, instead, doing it yourself. I know it sounds scary, but that's really the best way to go if you want honest answers in return. And a lot of times, it's better to do it in person so you don't have that awkward waiting around!

Guys can be majorly confusing. I understand that. But the thing is,if he doesn't like you he'll show it with his actions. Like if he acts like he likes you and u hang in the same crowd of friends and actually talks to you n tries 2 make u laugh, he may be into u.

Bonjour chicky! Honestly, it's all about confidence. If you act like the hottest girl in school, then he'll believe it. I know it sounds so cliche but it works! Being shy is a major turn off for a guy so flirting back with this kid from math class will really get you far!

I think it's great that you feel comfortable sharing boy stuff with your mom. Moms can offer a lot of insight on boy issues. I would continue to talk to this boy at school and get to know him.  If you want to ask him out, I would suggest inviting him to join you and your friends the next time you go to the movies or on another fun group outing. A lot of girls text or ask out a guy first, it there is nothing weird about it.  Do what you are most comfortable with. In my experience, it is also better to ask a guy to hang out with you in person, instead doing it through a text message. Good Luck Smile

So I really like this guy. I only known him for a year, but for me it was love at first sight. He has a gf, but she is leaving next year and my crush is a year younger, so he is the same grade as me.
We are partners for an afterschool sports program, and he asked me to be his partner again.
Sometimes he does things for me. Like he would let me cut him in line for water and he gave me a birthday present. (he handed to me. It wasn't wrapped or anything. He probably didn't know it was my bday at all)
I want to know if he likes me.
But I also want to know how to tell if he is being nice to me because we are partners or because are friends. I dont think that we will ever be close friends because we never have a convo about life and when I say hi, he just says hey, like he doesn't know me.

Now on to this guy: if this guy is a player, you're more likely to get hurt asking him out then gain a BF. Before you ask him, really gauge whether you're just one of the girls or if you're THE girl he really has his eyes on. If it turns out, you're the former category, don't bother.

Just catch your dad when he's relaxing on his own and be calm about it. Tell him you were talking to your crush (mention him by name since your parents know him) and were thinking about going to the movies together sometime. Tell him you wanted to make sure he'd be ok with it - he's your dad after all, and you respect him. Sharing this with him will make him feel like you respect him, which is great! Aw, nice! You already have the subtle "hallway hi" going on, so that's awesome. Next time you see him at his locker, go up to him. Use your moms as a talking point - I know that sounds kinda silly, but laughing about something weird one of them said could totally break the ice! Okay so the valentines dance is friday...
and there is this guy that i really really like. [and we're friends and stuff] that i want to ask to the dance as a date..
but the last [and only] time ive ever asked a guy to a dance, he said no and his friends mocked me for it [a lot] so i am REALLY nervous about asking him out.

Hey girl, As far as calming your nerves, take a deep breath when you talk to him.  Remind yourself of the positives - he's sweet, and you guys obviously get along really well!  So there's not much to worry about.  You could think about inviting him to hang out with you and your buds sometimes - it shows you want to get to know him better, but it's more laid-back than asking him out.  If that seems like too much or not quite right at the moment, just keep having fun with the flirting, and see where it goes. aghhh, this guy is so confusing! can you help me figure out if he likes me or not?!
#1 We were taking a math quiz and I sighed in exasperation because one of the questions were difficult and his head whipped around and he held is gaze on mine and gave me a questioning head-turn and I just smiled. It happened again and we held each others gaze until we looked away again. Also, in the cafeteria after school, (club meeting), he gets picked up from there and i would say 70% of the time he was staring at me.
#2: He asks me for clarification for quizzes/tests we take. For example, he usually asks this other girl if he got something right or whatever cuz she's uber smart, but this time he GRABBED my bag, pulled me back swirled me around, and desperately asked me the question, even though he could've had the chance to ask the other girl b4 cuz he was talking to her. He made me give him a hi-five cuz we had the same answer but he didnt have the girl do that. thanks!

moderator please help me asap!!! so tonight, i play a basketball game and my coach from my school team is coming to watch... the thing is, is that he makes me feel uncomftable! you may be asking why i invited hem, but it wasnt me, it was another girl who plays on both of my teams. like he is always demanding and makes you feel guilty over little thing. like i was taking the picture for the boys team, which he also coaches, was like yelling at me because i happened to be taking picture of the best player while he was posing for the camera while my coach was rearranging the teamates. he started yelling at me and during practices, he would always cuss at the players. he would yell at me during the games, but then told me i did good after the game. i dont want him to yell at me when i am playing. i always feel uncomftable, but i dont understand why no one else feels the same way! please help me!!

Then if you feel like he is being talkative to you, say, "Well I was thinking you and I could go together. It could be fun!" Try to be casual about it. I can't know for sure obviously, but it kinda sounds like he might like you. To decide how to respond, you have to figure out how you feel in return. Is he just a friend? Do you have a crush on him? Try to get your friend to organize more group things with her BGF and his friends. That way, you'll get to see him and get to know him better. MOD MOD! Help me ASAP!! how do you know what "social class" you are at school because these people made a group called the ___ club for cool people. And I was asked twice but I didn't really get the point because I don't think I am that cool. I think people only know me because my friendship with a popular girls and because I am the captian of the 8th grade basketball team, even though I am 7th grade. That's a tough situation girlie. I'd let him be for now. That's a silly reason for him to stop liking you, so chances are he still does. If you leave him be for awhile though, he will probably miss you liking him, in which case he will start liking you again. Try it out!

1) Getting "noticed" by guys is great, but the sure-fire way of getting a guy to talk to you is by starting a conversation with him first. Be confident and go up to him! Talk to him about whatever you like...it'll def catch his attention.

2) You have to push yourself out of your comfort zone. That's the only way! It might feel awkward and you might feel self-conscious, but be social and warm. You won't regret it Smile

You still have plenty of time before the dance - use it! Choose one or two of those guys and chat them up. Flirt a little and let them get to know you better. Im trying to get over an old crush . He's the biggest player , but I was in love with him . Now , Im moving on . Do you have any flirting, outgoing tips ? So I got a B on my social studies test. Now my percent is 85%!
And I got something wrong on my worksheet so it's just going to get lower! My teacher is really tough. And if you ask a question, she will get really mad thinking you weren't listening when you really were. She doesn't give extra credit. I am really scared because I like the feeling of being one of those few people who gets A's in her class and people get wowwed by that. Also it feels like I am letting my parents and myself down! She is also does her grading really tough and she doesn't things in percents. So even if I do good in a classroom worksheet (not a homework worksheet) it doesn't help me as much as a test, so it will hardly help!
Please give me good advice! Anyone help?

Okay, I posted this yesterday, but I guess you didn't get it because I didn't get an answer. Anyway:
I've been in a relationship with a guy for about 2 months. But we've both liked each other for 5 years. Anyway, I'm a hopeless romantic. And he has issues with expressing his feelings. Okay, so I have this huge crush on one of my guy friends. We have known each other for ever but we have never hung out outside of school. We talk a lot and sometimes I get the vibe that he likes me, but he flirts a lot with other girls too, but he says he doesn't think he does and doesn't mean too. Trying to start conversations with you, showing an interest in your life and inviting you to do things would also be positive signs. As for hinting to him that you like him as more than a friend, it would be good to keep flirting. To make hanging out not like a date, you could invite him to hang out with a group of your friends, and not make a big deal out of asking. You could casually ask if he's doing anything over the weekend, and then say, "My friends and I are ..." (whatever you're doing) and then, "Wanna go with us?" or something like that. After hanging out with him, it's more likely that you'd text or chat online more often, too.


 

Also: It's very important to have confidence. Don't think that other girls are prettier than you. Be confident in yourself and how you look. If you hang out with him, make an outfit that makes you feel really pretty (but one that's not overly dressed up). And, whether other people like him or not shouldn't really have anything to do with whether or not you date him. If you do end up dating, just don't rub it in their faces. Since he seems a little bit awkward with flirting, I wouldn't ask him out right away. I'd try to get to know him a little better first by having conversations with him and talking about things the two of you have in common. You could also throw in a compliment or two. So, it was the summer before I started the sixth grade. I had just moved back to my hometown from living in California for about a a year. My sixth grade year began. There was this guy that went to the other elementary school, so I didn't really know him. I mean, I only had one class with him. Well, he asked me out, well, actually he had this girl that I had a few classes with ask me out for him one day and when she did, I said no because I had no idea who she was talking about. Afterwords, I found out who he was and I liked him and wished that I would have said yes. Well, we are in the seventh grade now and we still have only have one class together. I still like him, but I don't know if he likes me. Maybe he still does too. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe he is...embarassed or...mad at me because I said no. I don't really know and I don't know how to find out and get him to ask me out again because I am way too shy to even talk to him. I am just a shy person.

Hey girl! It sounds like he might! These are all pretty good clues, but if you want to be sure why not just ask him? He probably knows you like him since you named your monkey after him so he may just be shy. Even if things don't end up working out, at least this way you can say you'll know!

Hey i need some major girl help!
I really like this who is in 10th grade but im in 8th grade.We ride the same bus and talk alot! he always gives me little hints like he likes me but i cant ever tell if he does.
I want to find out soon..i have had a crush on him since i was in 6th grade.Hes cute and funny ,fun to be with and an all around awesome friend.

MODMODMOD So theres this guy,(how many times have you heard that before?) and i think he really likes me. But we are not able to drive yet and my mom thinks im not old enough to date. So i was thinking that when my bff and her bf goes to our former schools graduation(middle school graduation)that i could bring him along so i wont be like a third wheel and it wouldnt be completely awkward...and i'd also like to rub in the snotty girls that go theres faces that i have a bf and the 10 guys in their grade are wrong that i am nice enough to have one. what should i do??

MOD MOD MOD This is probably going to be a long question but i need advice- There is this guy and over the summer, he kept texting me and calling me and he would ask innapropriatte questions. well i deleted his number and today i got a text that said really innapropriate things like he wants to do things with me and called me names. I want to tell my mom and he keeps calling me and wont stop! I want to also call the police on him but i think thats too dramatic... What should I do?

 

 

Hey girly! I would definately, definately tall your mom, and see what she says. And, you can always warn this guy that if he doesn't stop, you'll call the police.

@applefrizzle22--hey girlie, i had a friend that was the same way. I know u want payback but that SO isn't the way 2 go. U will only hurt urself by sinking 2 her level. Hey chica! I would definately talk to your friend about it first. Let her know that you're really worried about it, and that you don't want to lose her. And, tell her to be honest with you as to how she feels. You have to ultimately make the decision yourself. Are you good enough friends that you would really miss her as a friend, worse case scenario? Is this guy that great that you would sacrifice a friendship for? I've learned that a new guy will always come along. But friendships are forever.

mod! mod! mod! tomorrw is my friends birthday party and we are going to something called late skate. its every friday from 8-11. were all excited. she has a bf who goes to the other middle school in our community (were in 8th grade) and he is friends with my crush, who also goes to the school. he MAY come if my friends bf tempts him. we...(my crush and i)...had a thing b4. we didn't date. but we went though a lot and both liked each other. he stopped liking me...i didn't. I hacn't seen him in a while, so if he does come, what should i say! hes kinda one wordeed and hes not big on really flirty actions. also, how can i convince him to come! ......and if he doesn't....what can I say? Or, make a joke that you haven't seen him in forever and missed him. I would relax about it and just let the convo flow. Sometimes, things are better if they're not planned.

Ive been dropping hints like CRAZY and we both admitted that we like each other. how do i ask him out? by note, text, call, face to face? should i word it differently so its not straight forward will you go out with me? or is that exactly what i should do?

Instead of straight up asking him out, let him know that because of your feelings, you want to be more than friends, and see what he has to say about it. OK there is this REALLY cute guy at my youth group every monday. Well one day he like tried to talk to me and stuff. I was like behind him in the chairs and i like pushed him a little and he turned around and all of sudden he looked deeply in my eyes for like almost a minute! then i gave him evil eyes and then he laughed. Then when we were all singing he tried to get my attention. And i think he wanted to know my name cause he was giving signs. what should i do?
