    Boy Bands

    1. “Girlfriend” – N Sync (featuring Nelly). Second-guessing your current beau? This beat will push you towards greener pastures…and reminds us just how cute JT was during his boy band days! Get it now!

    >> 2. “I Want It That Way” – Backstreet Boys. Grab your hairbrush microphone, it’s the perf sing-a-long jam. Get it now!

    3. “When You Look Me In The Eyes” – Jonas Brothers. Nick, we’ll look into your dreamy browns any day. ’Til then, we’ll make this a slow dance request at any suitable function. Get it now!

    4. “Summer Girls” – LFO. Sure, the rhymes are a tad corny, but it references our summer faves like Cherry Coke, peaches and fun dip. Get it now!

    5. “The Hardest Thing” – 98 Degrees. Ah, forbidden love. It sure can be hard. We’ve all lied about our feelings, and this song admits it. Get it now!

    6. “ABC” – The Jackson 5. Loving this 1970 hit will be as easy as 1, 2, 3. It’s catchy…and makes us wish Michael Jackson was still around. Get it now!

  • spice-girls.jpg
    Girl Groups

    >> 7. “Wannabe” – Spice Girls. A li’l bit of hip hop. A li’l bit of rap. It’s the perfect combo for dancing crazy with your girls and singing at the top of your lungs. Get it now!

    8. “Damaged” – Danity Kane. Remember that jerk who completely broke your heart? This one goes out to him. Get it now!

    9. “C’est La Vie” – B*Witched. This Irish group’s single definitely spreads the cheer, making any day a sunnier one. Get it now!

    10. “Unpretty” – TLC. After listening to this, you’ll want to stop fixating on your self-proclaimed physical flaws and feel beautiful for once and for all. Get it now!

    11. “Bootylicious” – Destiny’s Child. Playing it will just make you feel sassy, and will get your feet and booty ready to dance. Get it now!

  • aqua.jpg
    Guilty Faves

    12. “Party Like a Rockstar” – Shop Boyz. We caught them at our Atlanta Mall Tour in 2007 and just hearing it makes us feel like we can hang with rockstars all the time. Get it now!

    13. “Get Over Yourself” – Eden’s Crush. Brings us back to the days when this group was formed on TV’s Popstars. Who cares if they’re not around anymore? We are still lovin’ this tune! Get it now!

    >> 14. “Barbie Girl” – Aqua. With lyrics like “Come on, Barbie, let’s go party” and “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic”, this song is as shallow as the Dream House swimming pool but let’s be honest, this song speaks the truth. Get it now!

    15. “Who Let the Dogs Out” – Baha Men. Don’t tell us you don’t woof along. Get it now!

    16. “MMMBop” – Hanson. We like to think of Hanson as the original JoBros. And we like to think this jam will never go out of style with Taylor’s sweet vocals. Get it now!

    17. “Beautiful Soul” – Jesse McCartney. We can’t even tell you how many times we’ve featured this cutie in our mag. But, seriously, we want the innocent-Jesse-circa-this-tune back. Get it now!

    18. “Amazing Grace” – Charlotte Church. Like she came straight out of the Opera, Charlotte was cool before Susan Boyle even jumped on the soprano bandwagon. This cover proves it. Get it now!

    19. “Feels So Right” – Eagle-Eye Cherry. From confronting your crush to skipping curfew, playing this jam will make everything feel like it’s the right thing to do in the moment. Get it now!

    20. “Skies So Blue” – The Rocket Summer. Think a one-man act about love like The Ready Set…just seven years earlier. Can you ever get enough of that? Didn’t think so. Get it now!

  • potential-breakup-song.jpg
    Break Up Musts

    21. “I Don’t Need A Man” – Pussy Cat Dolls. Encouraging yourself that no dude is needed to make you feel good will actually make you feel fantastic. Get it now!

    22. “Fighter” – Christina Aguilera. A song to make you feel stronger! It’ll make you think otherwise when complaining about the time you wasted with that cheater. Get it now!

    >> 23. “Potential Break Up Song” – Aly & AJ. It’s his loss. And this electropop jam will remind you of that. Get it now!

    24. "Before He Cheats" – Carrie Underwood. OK, OK, car trashing is never the right thing to do but…sometimes, revenge is so sweet. Get it now!

    25. “Picture to Burn” – Taylor Swift. The high priestess of scorned reminds you how totally not worth it he is. Get it now!

    26. “Walk Away” – Kelly Clarkson. Things just aren’t working out? Use this as a boost before dumping the dude. Get it now!

    27. “So What” – Pink. This rock-solid jam will instantly transform you into rockstar mode (no tats required). Get it now!

    28. “I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor. Karaoking to this with your girls just feels so darn good Every. Single. Time. Get it now!

    29. “I Look So Good (Without You)” – Jessie James. Taylor Swift’s fave break up song—and you know SHE knows what she’s talkin’ about. Get it now!

    30. “Insensitive” – Jann Arden. Play. Cry. Repeat as many times as needed. Get it now!

    31. “Leave (Get Out)” – JoJo. Your BF cheated with your BFF? Oh no, they didn’t! We love JoJo’s belting lyrics in this tune. Get it now!

  • norah-jones.jpg
    Tear-Jerking Tunes

    32. “Angel” – Sarah McLachlan. Seriously, can you get through that ASPCA ad without sobbing because we can’t. Get it now!

    33. “Everybody Hurts” – R.E.M. Michael Stipe is the moodiest 80s legend since Morrissey but this song will remind you that you’re not alone. Get it now!

    34. “Landslide” – Fleetwood Mac. We’ve all got those mountains we need to get over, and as scary as it might seem, this song will give you the inspiration to do it. Get it now!

  • froufrou.jpg
    Perfect Pick-Me-Ups

    38. “Firework” – Katy Perry. It’s fist pump-inducing (but not in a raunchy Jersey Shore way) and will guarantee you’re feeling good about yourself. Get it now!

    39. “Mr. Brightside” – The Killers. The catchy beat will simply force you to sing along. Get it now!

    >> 40. “Let Go” – Frou Frou. An euro electro-pop beat that’s hypnotic. Get it now!

    41. “Don’t Stop Believing” – Journey. Well, the cast of Glee hearts it, so we have to, too. Get it now!

    42. “Hero” – Mariah Carey. Because you have to remember anyone (including you!) has the power and ability to be someone’s hero. Get it now!

    43. “Beautiful” – Christina Aguilera. Sticks and stones may break bones, but this always breaks us out of an insecure rut. Get it now!

    44. “Holiday” – Vampire Weekend. Beaten to death in multiple Christmas commercials but thinking about holidays can make ya cheery. Get it now!

    51. “Thriller” – Michael Jackson. If you’ve learned the entire dance, you’re allowed to show it off. Get it now!

    52. “Baby” – Justin Bieber. Well, he’s our 100th issue’s cover boy and for that simple fact we get thrown into a happy dance whenever we hear his voice. Get it now!

    53. “Hey, Princess” – Allstar Weekend. A bunch of cute dude’s calling us a princess? Swoon! We adore Zach’s voice and the groove Cam, Michael and Nathan have going on behind him in this song. Get it now!

Haha "Barbie Girl" used to be my ringback tone. Biggest mistake ever. People would call me just to listen to the song and get made whenever I answered. I'm so happy that Vampire Weekend and MGMT are on the list! "Eye of the Tiger" is my ultimate power song. It gets me moving in the morning. Definitely an interesting mix on that playlist!

Hey I'm a country music freak and all my friends sort of make fun of me when I listen to my music and they get really mad at me when I listen. I hate it and wish that they could see why I like it so much. I like my music so much I don't like any other kind of music. Help! What should I do? And don't suggest trying other kinds of music, because I don't think that kind of music is appropriate and I just don't like it.

Hey chica. I'm also a big country music fan. You will just have to accept that they don't appreciate the same music as you. Lots of friends listen to different music than their other friends, so don't worry about it so much. You can talk to them about coming to some type of compromise about what to listen to when you guys are together. Maybe you guys can listen to a country song, then their fav genre, and continue to go back and forth.

You should have put Baby Got Back (I Like Big Butts) by Sir Mix-A-Lot in a "Self-Esteem Boosters" category.

And where is Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now) by Bob Sinclar? THAT IS SO EPIC!!!

And White and Nerdy by Weird Al (parody of Ridin' Dirty).

Watch the music videos along with the songs for Baby Got Back and White and Nerdy. They rock!

MODMODMOD
i have gym and whenever we play soccer i sweat and i dont have extra face pads to bring to gym and if i did it'd mess up my makeup but the sweat is making my face breakout! what should i do? oh and i dont really have time to fix all my makeup.

Hey girlie. Actually wearing make up while playing sports can make you break out because of the sweat mixing in with your make up. Honestly, try not wearing as much make up on those days, or wash your face before playing and then re applying after!

I think Bye Bye Bye by NSync totally should have been on there. Same with Skater Boy by Avril Lavigne... I think I've known all the words to that song since it came out. And I would have thought there would be more Beatles on there: Yellow Submarine, Twist and Shout.....
But overall pretty spot on.

Hey MODMODMOD-- we did this activity in class today and we were finding porportions of height and stuff, but we had to measure our waists for one activity. 3 of my friends & i were at the same table doing it. one of my friends measured my waist, everyone else's, and we recorded the numbers. I had the smallest waist, and one of my friends said we had to remmeasure because that was impossible that i had the smallest (she didnt think she did, but one of our friends is pretty short and skinny). we measured again, i was still the smallest. so we recorded the data and did the activity, but the whole time my friend kept saying over and over, "we must have done the measuring wrong," and shaking her head and stuff. it was really starting to bother me, i told her to stop, but she won't drop it. what's wrong with having a small waist? (i have like an hourglass figure)

Hey girl, There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a small waist!  I'm not sure what her issue with the measuring was, but don't let it bother you.  She might be insecure about her own body worries.  Let it go, but if she brings it up again, tell her that talk makes you uncomfortable.  If she's your bud, she should get it and stop. Every body is different, and yours is beautiful just how it is. Smile

modmodmod Kso I like this guy and I think he might like me back. Whenever we talk on facebook and he is alone he makes it seem like it, but if he is with his friends he doesn't. And apparently he tells people he likes me but he never tells me. What do I do ?

Hey girl, It seems to be true of most guys that they treat you differently around their friends than when you two are alone.  Strange, I know, but totes normal.  If you've heard it from multiple sources that he likes you, that's definitely a good sign!  You could be bold and ask him about it.  Make a joke like, "So I've been hearing rumors that you like me... is it true?"  If you say it with a smile it keeps it from being too serious.  If you don't feel like doing that yet, show him you are interested in him by making opportunities to talk with him more in person.  xoxo

To Briisa, MadameAwesome, and Tivalove (Tony and Ziva are adorable together, I agree), among others:

Yeah, about half the stuff on here I wouldn't have anywhere near my list of top 100, but you have to keep in mind the audience. The average age of members/GL readers is probably several years younger than your/my/our musical tastes. If there are 13 year olds out there who love The Cure, props to them, but they definitely aren't the majority.

All in all, it's a pretty good list. =)
My additions:
-This list needs some Keane. Seriously, if you like Coldplay, you'll LOVE them. I'm thinking Leaving So Soon on the Breakup list. "If you don't need me, I don't need you." 'Nuff said.
-On Your Own, by Green River Ordinance. Absolutely beautiful.
-Learning the Hard Way, by the Gin Blossoms for Road Trip Songs.
-The Beginning (A Simple Speed) by The Classic Crime for pick-me-ups.

Kiss Me totally deserves its spot on the list, and I'm very happy to see it there. =) But I can't be the only one who thinks Hear You Me and I Will Follow You Into The Dark are a bit heavy/depressing for the kiss list? Acutally, I think Hear You Me is kind of getting ripped off by not being on the Tear jerker list. I can't tell you how many times that song has made me cry. It's heartbreaking. In a good way. =)
