Why is V-Day always about the drama? Cut the crush craze for
a few days and focus on your forever friends, instead. It’s Secret Santa
without the holiday hoopla. Have fun!
Be spontaneous
Text or call all of your best girl friends and lay out the
plan. Ask them if they’re in or out—and if someone doesn’t want to partake, ask
her if she’ll be master of ceremonies and keep track of who has whom—then set a
spending limit. Keep it cheap…this is just for fun, remember!
Pick your Valentine
Write each girl’s name on a heart-shaped piece of pink or
red construction paper. Toss them all into a hat or paper bag and take turns
drawing names. If you get yourself, toss the paper back and pick again. Decide
as a group when to deliver your gift (or gifts, if you want to do a few small
items) and when and where to have your big reveal party.
Get gifting
Hitch a ride to the dollar store and get some fun prezzies
for your Valentine—cheap nail polish, heart-shaped chocolates, silly V-Day
cards, packages of bubbles, whatevs. Deliver them in total secrecy. If you have
a nonparticipating girlie acting as master of ceremonies, you can have her dole
out the goodies, too.
Party time!
Throw a girls-only bash at your house or one of your
friends’ houses to stage the secret admirers reveal. Have each girl bring a
sweet treat they know their Valentine adores. When it’s time to let the cat out
of the bag, present the treats to each other and giggle over your gifting week.
When you get to school on Monday, indulge in your goodies and
your girls. Have a blast spreading the
love…and maybe giving that cutie you’ve been eyeing a brownie or two after
lunch.
