Baskin-Robbins and Cold Stone ain’t got nothin’ on these 10 terrific
treats. Pass a bowl, please!
Perf peanut butter cup
– Leave chocolate ice cream out to soften. When it’s easy to work with, use a
spoon to swirl in peanut butter. Scoop into a bowl, then top with crumbled
Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Rad rainbow – Grab
small scoops of a variety of different-colored sorbets. Toss in sliced
strawberries, blueberries, raspberries—whatever fruit you like—for a refreshing
treat.
Ice-cold s’mores –
Pile vanilla bean ice cream high in a bowl. Top with steamy hot fudge, crumbled
graham crackers and mini marshmallows.
Shirley Temple Twist
– For a new take on a Shirley Temple, add a scoop of black cherry ice cream to
a tall, empty glass. Pour sprite or ginger ale over the ice cream and top with
cherries.
Mocha-chip madness –
Add a scoop of coffee ice cream and a scoop of chocolate ice cream to a bowl.
In a saucepan, heat store-bought hot fudge ice cream topping. Mix in 1/8
teaspoon of ground coffee per serving. Drizzle over ice cream and top with
chocolate chunks.
Cookie monster –
Bake or buy some giant chocolate chip cookies. Lay ‘em out on a plate, drop a
scoop of softened cookies ‘n’ cream ice cream on one and push the two together.
For a cutesy finish, roll the edges in rainbow sprinkles.
Piña colada cooler – Two
scoops pineapple sorbet followed by a sprinkle of shaved coconut and a flashy
paper umbrella.
Ultimate brownie sundae – Warm a homemade brownie in the microwave for 25 to 30 seconds. Top
immediately with good vanilla ice cream and pipin’ hot fudge. A drizzle of
caramel ice cream topping, a sprinkle of crushed nuts, a dollop of whipped
cream and a cherry are all tasty, but optional.
Strawberry shortcake – Layer
French vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, store-bought pound cake or
angelfood cake, and whipped cream for a dainty, delicious parfait sundae.
Choconut bliss – Top
several scoops of chocolate ice cream with warm Nutella hazelnut spread, heated
in a saucepan over the stove or in the microwave in a heat-proof bowl. Sprinkle
your favorite smashed nuts and mini chocolate chips over top, and dig in.
