My armpits have weird bumps on them, but I’m not sure if
they are pimples. It hurts to shave. I’m not sure what I should do. Please
help!
Relax, girlie, we’ve all been there, dealt with that. There
are a couple of probable causes…
You nicked yourself while shaving
Armpits are like knees: They’re hard to shave and easy to
mess up. A quick swipe with your razor could have taken a slice of your skin or
inflamed a pore. The tender bump you’re left with needs to be treated with care
until it has healed.
You applied deodorant too soon
If you leap out of the shower and slap on some deodorant
immediately, your skin could be reacting to the chemicals in your deodorant,
which can be very irritating. If this is the case, the bump should go away in a
few days. From now on, give your bod some time between shaving and applying
irritants, like heavily fragranced lotions and deodorant. Wait 20 to 30 minutes
before using ‘em, and if you keep having probs, try switching brands.
How to deal
That razor in your hand is super sharp, girl, so take care.
When you’re shaving your pits, lather up with lots of soap or shaving cream,
and then shave in the direction the hair grows. Go slowly to avoid cuts and
make as few passes with your razor as possible to avoid irritation. When you’re
finished, pat your pits dry and leave ‘em alone for at least 30 minutes to give
your pores a chance to close back up before applying lotion or deodorant.
