After running around with those kids all day, it’s time for bed…or at least a break.  Not sure how to get them settled down?  Don’t worry, bedtime (or daytime) can be a dream come true with our all time fave childhood stories.

Books they can read:

Goodnight, Moon written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd

This sweet book about bidding goodnight to all the things in a room is the perfect bedtime story.  And in no time, you’ll be saying goodnight to those kids too. Get it now!

Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss

“I do not like green eggs and ham.  I do not like them Sam-I-am!”  We, however, love Green Eggs and Ham.  A fun and easy-to-read story, it’s a great boredom-buster. Get it now!

Books where you can do all the voices:

Owl Babies written by Martin Waddell and illustrated by Patrick Benson

When Mama owl goes hunting in the night, Sarah, Percy and Bill get worried.  Have fun doing different voices for all three sibling owls.  (Bill’s our favorite!) Get it now!

Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes

With a pair of glittery glasses and a new purple plastic purse, Lilly’s day at school is fabulous.  That is, until Mr. Slinger takes them from her...and she retaliates.  Read it and get creative by putting on a play about Lilly’s eventful day. Get it now!

Books that teach them things:

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom written by Bill Martin Jr. & John Archambault and illustrated by Lois Ehlert

Help the kids with their ABC’s by reading this jazzy and rhythmic book about alphabet letters. Get it now!

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

Rainbow Fish learns all about the importance of sharing in this deep sea tale.  With a good lesson and pretty pictures with shiny scales, you can’t go wrong. Get it now!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Munch along as this caterpillar eats its way to becoming a butterfly.  This colorful book is a classic must-read. Get it now!

Books with exciting adventures:

Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson

Got a kid with an active imagination?  He’ll love this story about Harold who goes for a walk and creates his own world with his purple crayon. Get it now!

Curious George by Margret & H.A. Rey

The kiddies will love reading about the man in the yellow hat, Curious George and all of the craziness that ensues. Get it now!

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

The “wild one” of the bunch will have a ball reading about mischievous Max’s journey to the land of the Wild Things and how he becomes king. Get it now!

Hey another great night time book is Pajama Time.
I loved that book when I was little, it has a very fun vibe to it!
I loved the Kissing Hand too, great book.

one book i totally recommend for someone who misses their parents is the kissing hand. i read it in kindergarten - and loved it! you can also do this cute little craft where you trace the kids hand and cut it out. then they kiss it and decorate it with stickers and hearts. "so when you feel sad, you can hold the kissing hand and it will make you happy!" Smile

They all seem good but for some reason Where the Wild Things Are just seems kind of scary. But that may be because it scared me when I was younger.

Reading is one of the best things you can do when babysitting. I do it and the kids I watch love it.

MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like a dress up doll to my mom, I'll tell her things are too small for me but she makes me wear them anyway. She has no thought about how I feel. I want kinda short hair and she says no you're growing your hair out. It's not FAIR!!! HELP! Frown

Hey chica! You need to have a serious talk with your mom and let her know that while you love her, you're growing up and can make some of your own decisions. Maybe compromose with her and find some styles in between, both hair-wise and clothing-wise.

I want to raise awareness about gay rights at school because I'm tired of people saying mean things about the gay community, but I'm not sure how. Do you have any ideas? Thanks! You're awesome!

hey! a great way would be to volunteer for the ACLU or start a chapter of the Gay Straight Alliance at your school. good luck!
