How can we go from texting to talking?

 
There is this guy in my grade who I really like. He likes me back and we’ve texted a bunch, but he never talks to me in school. Why do you think that is?

Shy

For some inexplicable reason, shy guys seem to outnumber outspoken ones, at least when it comes to matters of the heart. If you’re always with your group of girls, he might not know how to single you out and get your attention.

 

Nervous

If this is the first time he’s seriously interested in a girl, your crush probably has no idea what to do about it. If this is the case, taking the initiative to talk to him first might just be the way to go.

 

Waiting for you to make the first move

I know, I know: Dating 101 rules stipulate that Prince Charming is supposed to ask you out. Just about every guy we’ve talked to, however, is totally freaked out by the mere thought of asking you out. Take the pressure off by inviting him out for a slice of pizza after school.

 

Not quite as into you as you think…yet

Texts are like emails: You can throw in tons of smilies, but someone still might take what ya say the wrong way. I’m not saying there’s no chance for the two of you ever, but he might think of you as a friend (for now) rather than a potential girlfriend. Getting to know him in person will make your interest—and compatibility—clear, so go for it, girlie!

Hey! First of all, I'd just like to thank all of the Mods for all their help that they've given me. Y'all are awesome! Well, anyways, me and my BF have been dating for a little over 6 months (squee! Laughing). He's met my dad already, and they seem to like eachother. I'm really happy about that. The thing is though, I never get to hang out with him besides seeing him at school. I really miss hanging out with him. He asked me if I wanted to go see a movie with him tomorrow night with his sister, her BF, and his cousin. I'd really like to go, but my grandma is here from Virginia and I want to see her. I just feel mean declining him every single time. I just don't know how to talk to my parents about going on dates with him. They're fine with us dating and stuff, but because of my shy nature, I can never seem to gwt the nerve to ask them. I've talked to my friend about it, but she said to just ask them. I just can't get the nerves to do it. Sorry it's so long. Thanks!!!! (:

 

hey! I think if your grandma's in town you should see her, so that's a legit reason to decline. but maybe next time you can ask him to go to a movie. when you talk to your parents, try to calm your nerves by focusing on how happy you'll be after you've talked to them about it. good luck!

I like this guy and i told my best friend that i like him. She ended up making a chat on kik (instant messaging) with me her my crush and her crush. we talked every day for two months weather it be playing games or talking bout drama goin on at school. My crush would kik me alot but when it comes to school he doesnt talk to me. my friend and her crush think he likes me. Why doesnt he talk to me in person? Is there a chance he might like me?

So I met the guy I like at my new school in September through one of our mutual friends who lives back at home. We clicked instantly, but we only see each other at band practice, so I gave him my number (at the time I didnt like him like that) and he gave me his. Over the weeks that we got to know each other, we'd often say hi at practice, but we'd text more than we ever really talked. After two months of knowing him, I finally convinced myself to tell him that I like him. I kept it short and to the point, but he never replied back! I waited 24 hours before texting him again, and we went on acting like
nothing had ever happened. Sometimes he finds me at practice & will smile & wave, or if we're walking past each other he'll look at me, say hi & smile when I start to say hi back. We still havent talked about it, so Im wondering if he likes me, likes me? HELP!!!

He was probably surprised, especially if you told him that over texting. If he hasn't brought it up, I would try to stay friends for now. He knows how you feel, so if he's ready for a relationship, he'll bring it up!

MOD MOD MOD! I sit at the same table in science as the gu i like and he knows i like him and my friend asked him a few weeks ago and he said well ya ig i do like her. Were both shy and we've talked a few timesand texted a few times and so tomorrow were doin a group expirement in science tomorrow and i really wanna talk to him but i never know what to say! Pleasee help!




Hey girlie,

Try asking him about his plans for the weekend! Or about his after school activities, his pick to win the Superbowl, etc. Since it's a group experiment, you could also use the other members of the group to keep the convo going, then ask him his opinion so he speaks up. Take control and he'll probably be relieved you did - if he likes you but he's shy, it's great for you to make the first move! Smile
