Check these out, too...
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just point to a date on our calendars and know exactly when our periods were coming? And it would be even better if that date was convenient (aka not days when you’re wearing white or going to the beach). Yeah, we wish we could. too.
Unfortunately, there’s no sure way to know when “your monthly visitor” will first come, but odds are in your favor that it won’t come while you’re at the beach. If it does happen then, you will have to use a tampon to go in the water. Pads in water end up feeling like diapers—not comfy. Before you start to panic about using tampons, take a deep breath.
No doubt, using tampons can be scary at first, but with a little practice you’ll get the hang of it. Not sure what to do? No worries. There should be instructions (and prob a diagram) in your box of tampons. Keep in mind a different position or different angle of the tampon may work best for you. Our bodies are all different, so don’t force it if it hurts.
Most importantly, relax. It’ll be a whole lot easier if your muscles aren’t tensed up. And don’t be afraid to ask mom. We know, kinda awkward, but she’s been doing this for a while and will be totally ok with giving you a little advice.
