I am only 8 yrs. old and a wear a bra. My school has uniforms with white shirts and my bra is visible through the shirt. My friends are mean and say things like, “You don't need a bra, you just want boys to stare at you." What should I do?

 

More than likely, your buddies are saying those not-so-nice things to you because they’re upset. Your body is doing exactly what it’s meant to do—develop. Your friends are probably mad that you’re getting boob faster than them, and are picking on you for it. But know that it’s not your fault that your body is developing and you have to wear a bra to school. It’s life!

 

First, I think you should tell your friends that their comments are really hurtful. No one should make you feel bad about your body.

 

Now, if you don’t want your friends (and boys) at school to see your bra through your uniform, then you’re definitely going to have to ask your parents to buy you bras that match your skin tone. Many companies offer undergarments in all shades of nude and beige. Those colors will show up less underneath your white shirt and make your bra less noticeable. If not, then you can try wearing undershirts or camisoles under your clothes. That way your bra is fully covered and you won’t have to worry about anyone commenting on it again!
