Popular girl afraid of being uncool


I am in the cool clique. It’s more like a club. We have two presidents (they are the coolest), and I am one of them. Last week, a nerdy girl asked if she could be in our clique. Two people said, “Give her a chance.” Two others said, “Are you kidding?” Now, it’s my decision. I think we should give her a chance, but I’d rather eat a tapeworm than lose my coolness!

You obviously like people to think highly of you. That’s understandable. But you need to think well of yourself too, and not let your self-image depend on what your friends think. How will you feel if you don’t give the girl a fair chance? You already know how she will feel. Try not to be too exclusive. The coolest people I know are the warmest, most accepting and most open to others.

First of all, the question for ALL cliques is: Whoever made you the popular girls?
If there is a nice girl wanting to hangout with you, let her, because I once thought that I just HAD to hang with the populars so I could be popular but they didn't think I was cool enough and that just made them look like stuck up snobs. Be popular and well liked for who you are, just being a nice person and hanging with everyone gets you many friends, which is the best type of popularity. So I really hope you let that girl hangout with you. Because she could be an awesome, trustworthy friend, and not a superficial, fake friend that you can get from a "clique".

Being popular isn't all that fun. Your at school to, sorry if I sound like an adult, LEARN and make friends with people who won't exclude others because "they're not cool enough". I say let her in. If your "friends" ditch you, they're not true friends, and they aren't worth you time no matter how cool they are. Hey, maybe the "nerdy girl" will turn out to be a better friend than anyone else. Who wants to be "cool" anyway? All you ever do is worry about being cool enough. You should be able to make decisions without being afraid of losing your cool status.
