Long distance love

Check these out, too...

  • Should you tell him how ya feel before school ends?
  • Third time's a charm: Should you give him another chance?
  • Help! My BF told everyone we kissed--but we didn't!
  • Do long distance relationships work?
  • What he really thinks of your fave summer outfit
It’s official, your BF’s moving away. And things are totally about to change. They say long distance relationships never work out, but you don’t want to break up. Ugh.

Before you say sayonara, why not give it a chance. Being apart might seem like the end of the world but, trust us, it doesn’t have to be the end of your romance. Here are our biggest Dos and Don’ts for couples that want to go the distance…literally.

DO embrace your independence
Bonus! Him moving means you get more time for yourself. Spend it wisely by getting closer with friends, trying a new activity or doing things ya love. Gone are the days when you’ll have to pretend to follow baseball. This time is for YOU.

DO make time for each other
Your schedule’s so crazy between school, a job, family obligations. It’s time to put those super-scheduling skills to the test.  Whether it’s chatting on the phone, video chatting while eating dinner or texting throughout the day, making time to talk is a must.

DO stick out rough patches
We’re not gonna lie, long distance relationships aren’t easy. You’ll fight, cry and probably wonder if it’s even going to last at points. But here’s the silver lining on that ugly, gray storm cloud: The hard times will make you two even stronger. Always remember to keep your chin up.

DON’T get jealous
Your BF’s in a new town and he spent the whole day with new friends. You’re so happy for him…until he tells you their names: Katie, Sarah and Nicole. Uh oh. When other girls are spending more time with your BF than you are, it’s hard not to get a tad green with envy. But remember, while he may like them as friends, he’s dating Y-O-U for a reason.  Trust him.

DON’T be clingy
While you should make time for him, don’t make it ALL of your time. Talking all day, everyday and visiting him every weekend will just be overkill. With a little space, you’ll cherish your time together even more.

DON’T let it get boring
When you aren’t seeing each other as often, things can get pretty routine. Mix things up by calling or sending a cute text unexpectedly. Keep the romance alive by sending an ol’ fashioned love letter or ship him a batch of his fave double fudge brownies. Spontaneity will keep the sparks there. Promise!

Have you ever dealt with a long distance relationship? Blog about it, babes.

Im 10, but my boobs started growing when I was eight. I feel that I should where a padded bra, but all my mom gives me are training bras. I dont like those. So I just where Camisoles all the time. How do I get my mom 2 buy me padded bras?

Go shopping with her and show her the bras you like! You may need to compromise with her but im sure if you show her what you want she'll get you it. xoxo kerra

MOD MOD MOD!!! So my boyfriend and I have dated for 4 months now, and his mom is very sick in the hospital. His family is running out of money and they might have to move to another state with his relatives!!! What do I do? I want to stay in a relationship, but he said if he moved we wouldn't be. Is there a way to make him stay with me? I really don't want to lose him! I will be able to drive soon, so we would be able to visit each other occasionally because he is only moving to the state under mine. What should I do!

hey girlie,

That sounds like a tough situation! Cherish what you have now, but don't try to hold on to it forever.  If you two are meant to be together, then things may work out in the future.  But if he has to move, then be okay with the fact that you guys may need to move on and see other people--you guys are still young, so enjoy meeting new people and don't think so much about just making it work forever with one guy at this point!

MOD MOD MOD! I started a long distance relationship! things started out really good we would always text and call each other every time we would get a chance! we dated for three and half months! then certain problems came up! he said "he can't date me anymore because his mom doesn't want him to!" after that he said he talked to his mom and she said it was ok than things changed we would hardly text or call or even make time for each other! We spent are whole spring break together by phone which was amazing! After spring break he ended it he said "His mom doesn't want him to date!" I called i texted i really wanted to know if that was the truth and why couldn't he say it was over!? well my question is did i do something wrong? why can't i let it go? did i let myself fall short? and why did he bother asking me if he didn't want me in the first place? does he still care about us or are we over and no bother even being friends? Please help me thank you so much!

Bonjour chicky! All girls fall for guys and when we fall, we fall hard! It's tough can we can no longer date a guy we really like, but you must know that it is not your fault. There are just some circumstances one can't help. I'm sure he did really want to date you since you guys had a great three months together but now that his mom is not allowing him to date, you'll just have to ask him to see if he will still like to remain friends. In the meantime though, here are some ways to de-crush that guy: http://www.girlslife.com/post/2011/03/05/5-healthy-ways-to-get-over-him.aspx

MODMODMOD!
Okay, so there's this guy I like. We're both in 7th grade and both VERY shy.We don't have any classes together, and I'm not trying to be mean, but he doesnt have many friends. He's SUPER athletic and runs really fast. We have PE the same period, just not the same teacher. I try to smile at him &sometimes I catch him staring at my eyes, but he doesn't seem to want to look me straight in the eye. We're going to different schools in 9th grade and I want to get to know him more, but I don't know how to break the ice, and I'm kinda scared to. How can we talk without making it seem awkward and tense, since we're both really shy? btw he doesn't have a facebook or online profile, but his brother (in 9th grade does). Could you please give specific examples?? THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!

Bonjour chicky! Check some of these icebreakers out: http://www.girlslife.com/post/2011/01/26/100-cute-things-to-say-and-do-around-guys.aspx
