@Lauren68: No, this isn't a load of crap. My sister got meningitis from my dog when my dog licked her cut. The doc did a test and there was a little bit of dog saliva in the wound and they found the bacteria that caused the meningitis in the saliva. So, no. It's not a load of crap.

My friend has been letting her dog lick her on the lips since we were in kindergarten and she has never been sick from that. But it is good to know that this could be a problem. Her dog licks himself in weird places and then she lets him lick her lips, its weird and gross but I know a lot of people do it.
