Green up your workout

Maintain your fave trail (with a twist)
Gather some pals, break out the garbage bags and hit up a local hiking spot to spruce up the spot. Make it extra sporty by sprinting after you stop and pick up litter.

Can the water bottles
We’ve said it a million times, but it’s time to make plastic bottles a thing of the past. Run by the Gatorade, VitaminWater and straight-up H20 in favor of tap water in a reusable jug.

Snag recycled gear
Here’s a secret: You don’t need totally fresh workout equipment, especially if you’re new to a sport. Check out eBay, Craigslist or retail spots like Play It Again Sports for new-to-you gear. You’ll save moolah and will reduce your impact on the planet. Besides, tonsa people use their skis, tennis rackets or bikes a couple times before getting rid of them.

Ditch the Stairmaster for actual stairs
Instead of spending time on gym equipment that uses electricity, take your cardio outdoors. You’ll get energized from the fresh air, instead of draining tonsa energy inside.

Donate your old shoes for playground
Could it get any easier? You clean out your closet and, in return, Nike will grind up your kicks and help make playgrounds, tracks and tennis courts. Cool, right? Here’s how to donate.

If you have a habit of eating a “grab-and-go” breakfast, make sure you choose one that's high in protein, like swapping butter for almond butter on your toast.
