3 fresh braids to try this minute!

Start spring with a new ’do. We’ve found three fab new ways to wear cute braids—all straight from the stars!
 
The Top Braid
We’re obsessed with Kate Bosworth’s take on the high bun. To start, take a 2-inch wide section of hair at the top of your hair and make a wide braid, working toward the back of your head. Tie off the braid and pull it back with the rest of your hair into a bun at the crown of your head. So sweet and romantic—we love how Kate paired hers with florals and lace.
 

The Side Braid
Lauren Conrad updates her bitty braid for a messy French side braid—still casual, but ultra-chic. Make a deep side part and gather all your hair over to one shoulder. Craft a French braid on the side of your head, and tie off the end with a ribbon, cord or elastic. Buff in a bit of dry shampoo to give it some texture, and finish with a shot of hairspray. Perfect party look!
 
 
The Double Braid
You’ll need longish hair for this look. To get Jessica Alba’s no-fuss style, create a center part and divide hair into two sections. French braid each section all the way to the end and tie them off with a hair band. Attach each of the ends to the opposite side of your head with a bobby pin, and tuck in the ends.  Laid-back glam at it’s best!

I like this guy and he likes me back but he wont go out with me because his friends dont like me. At dances he dances with strangers. He stares at me in this one class a lot. He does not text me any more and I wont see him this summer. If you were there you could see he likes me but he is putting an act on for his friends. What should I do? I could use anybody's help.  Hey babe! If he pretends not to like you just because his friends don't, are you sure he's the guy for you? If his friends have that much of an influence over him that he can't even be honest with them and tell them he likes you... he doesn't really sound like a good guy. You will come to realize that just because a guy likes you doesn't mean you should date him. Maybe you should use this summer as an opportunity to meet new guys, ones that aren't afraid to like you. I know it sucks, but he's obviously too immature to be a bf. Good luck girlie!

I can't get to sleep at night. I noticed this a few days ago... usually I can fall asleep by 9:30, but last night I didn't fall asleep until midnight! Do you know why this is happening or am I just crazy?

i have these really cute pelican hair clips, and i really want to wear them! what's the right way to put them in my hair? every time i try, all you can see is the part that you pinch, so you can't see the cute flower design and it just looks weird. thanks!




Hey girl,

Try putting your hair in a French twist, then putting the clip sideways across the back! You could also put your hair in a ponytail, then pin the bottom hanging part to your head with the clip. Just sit in front of a mirror sometime when you aren't busy and experiment with it! Smile

I usually straighten my hair everyday, because its just super easy to do. But the past two days i've curled it, and it just looks SOOOO much better. And I love curling it! I figure a way how to make it look extra good to. (: So I was wondering...would it be weird to curl it a third day in a row? Because i don't want people thinking i didn't take a shower for three days, even though i really don't care what people think. & Plus i know a lot of people like my hair better curly anyways. Should i just go ahead and curl it for the third day in a row? (: THANKS! (Sorry for the length!)

MOD MOD I really like putting my hair in a bun (Not tight) because its like the only way my hair looks perfectly good in, I'm just scared that it will cause breakage and damage, can I still wear my hair in a bun everyday or would that damage my hair? Thankkks!

 

Hey girl. I think it's totally fine to wear your hair in a bun every day just make sure it's not too tight or pulling on your hair line. Also, you could keep an eye out for a shampoo that protects hair against damage. Buying a shampoo or a conditioner definitely sounds like it would be a good investment for you.

MODMODMOD!
this may sound weird but i cannot get my hair to curl. i have
stick straight hair and i've tried like 5 different types of curlers, a 1 inch barrel curling iron, and even a straightening iron.I have also read through all the articles about hair that have been posted on this website in the the last 6 months. I've also asked my hair stylist, she told me but it takes about 2 hours to do. I have about an extra hour in the morning. Any ideas of what i can do?

Hey babe,

I am SO with you there! You could try braiding your hair at night when it's slightly damp (not wet) and see how that looks in the morning. The thing that worked best for me was putting in sponge curlers the night before, then taking them out and spraying a TON of hair spray on the curls the next morning. But sometimes our hair is just stubborn and won't do what we want. If that's the case, try to embrace it and find gorgeous hairstyles that do work for ya!

Hey girly! Prom is a time to have fun and glam it up! That being said, long hair down with waves or curls always looks pretty. Or, you could pull your hair back into a big bun and put a flower in it. As for makeup, you could do a smokey eye with light pink or nude lips, or a deep lipstick (like red), with a lighter eye. And for nails, I'd go neutral, as opposed to bright.

I have layers so it's really hard to braid my hair to the side. I've tried bobby pins and everything but it still ends up falling out and looking funky due to my layers. Is there anyway I can prevent it from falling out and make it look cute without hairs sticking out because of my layers?




Hey girlie,

I totally understand how hard it is to braid when you have layers!  I would suggest either doing it when your hair is still wet, or applying some type of mousse or product to keep hair somewhat "glued" together...check out different products at stores like Target or Walmart.  However, sometimes, it's just impossible to braid with layers.  I would suggest trying smaller braids on the top of side of your head...or if nothing else works, I would suggest trying other cute styles for your hair...or try accessories like headbands or pins!

I love-LOVE-love my hair when it is straightened, but then I take a shower and it turns frizzy and wavy again! any ways to keep it straight even when it gets wet? And i was also wondering when the next GL issue is coming out? i have been d-Y-ing to read it! thank you!

 

 

Hey girly! I'd try using some argon oil... it can be found in Moroccan Oil, which is a little pricey and can be found at most beauty salons. Or, you can get a cheapie version of Moroccan Oil at Sally Beauty Supply for only about $5. Just ask them where the argon oil is, and they can point you in the right direction. Make sure not to use a lot though... a dime-sized amount will do the job! As for the next GL issue, I'm not positive, but I'd imagine soon! Smile

Not babyish at all Smile Just approach dad while he's alone and doing something relaxing (working on the car, reading a book, watching TV, etc.). Apologize again for getting into a silly fight and then just simply ask, since you've worked things out, if he thinks you might be able to have your Easter stuff back again. He might say no just to make sure you really understand the lesson, but he might forget about it if you don't bring it up! It's definitely worth mentioning Smile

what's the difference between a regular braid and a french braid? and if there is one, how do you do a french braid?




Hey girlie. Yes, there is a difference. French braids are a bit harder. You start out at the top of your head and gather three small chunks of hair, Begin to braid like your normally do but gather more and more hair as you go down the head. They're a bit tricky to try watching a how-to video about it!

Hey girlie. You're going to need some tennis skirts and some loose clothing for practicing. You can go to any place really to get work out clothes- like sports authority, kohls and pretty much any department store. You should ask your tennis coach at school where to get a tennis skirt. Also, don't forget to take sports bras, water bottles, and sneaks!

I'm goin to the movies later and I dont know what to wear! So far I have a pair of brown shorts. I want to wear a tank top but im not sure what color. The colors i have are white blue purple and pink, all pretty plain in pattern. Im also not sure how to do my hair. Its shoulder length and layered. If you could help that would be great!
