I don't measure up to the preppy girls


 
These girls in my school are really preppy and live in really cool big houses and wear all new clothes. They are nice to me, but sometimes I think they are laughing at me behind my back.

 

Dear Not As Fortunate,

It can be hard when other girls seem to have bigger houses or newer clothes than you. But no matter how much you have, there is always someone out there who has more. So rather than dwell on your comparisons and what others have, you’re better off looking at what you do have. Do you have a loving family? Are you rich in friends? What are your special talents? You say you are not as fortunate, but money is not the only measurement. And I doubt these girls are laughing at you anymore than you would laugh at a girl whose home is smaller than yours.

ya...these poular girls at my school are the same way to me.....it can be really sad how much value people put on things like clothes and how fast you can run...people should like you for you.

My math teacher doesnt teach my class anything because they dont respect him. I act well and have had straight A's but he didnt let me take the test for ADVANCED math. I cant waste another year in a chaotic classsroom doing NOTHING. what should i do???

Hey girlie, just be outgoing. Talk to everyone you see and be super friendly. It's easy to make friends when you're trying!

my spanish teacher is pretty nice but she's kinda irresponsible. we had to do an oral presentation and she said my group got an A-. well she put my grade in, (and i can see it cuz we have this thing where we can check our grades online) and it says my group got a B-!! i'm upset because it brought my grade down. plus grading ends soon and school's out so what can i do? i emailed her but i'm afraid she won't know and i'll have a lower grade cuz of it. help!!!




Hey girlie! Your teacher should be checking her email since it's during the grading period, so all you can really do is wait it out. Is it possible that she's still at school and could one of your parents drive you over to talk to her in person about it? In any case, it's a good idea to tell Mom or Dad about your situation. She or he might have some good ideas as to how you could handle it.

Hey, don't feel bad. At my school everyone always dresses really sloppy and I feel weird because I dress really trendy. Try to ask your friends to help you fit in more. And don't feel bad, since having nice clothes and a big house doesn't equal happiness

Hey girl,

Do you have anyone in the class you can ask for help? Gather some specific questions together, then give them a call. Or you can Google specific concepts to see if you can teach yourself. There's not a lot you can do the night before other than read your notes and textbook to clarify these things, but in the future try to take care of this ahead of time - that way, you can ask your teacher these questions before the day of the test!

I don't think you need to say anything to your parents about it. Just remember that PDA can make other people around feel uncomfortable and make sure that you don't do it in the future.

i'm having kind of a problem with my music teacher. i don't take private lessons (by my own choice) and i go to camp every summer with a partial scholarship because it's always nice not to pay an extra hundred dollars or whatever. my music teacher now has been telling me all year that i should take private lessons and how he tells all the private teachers about me. he assumes my family doesn't have enough money to pay for lessons or summer camps and he said that to my face. i was too shocked he said that to correct him (it's not true, we're doing fine financially) but now i want to. it feels like he thinks of me differently now and analyzing me all the time and it's awkward. i don't know if i should tell him the truth or not. what should i do?




Hey! you should absolutely stand up to him if he made you uncomfortable. Just tell him that you're fine financially and that it hurt your feelings that he assumed you weren't. it'll be hard but you'll be glad you spoke your mind. good luck!

i love myself!! <3 but somedays i worry. i have heaps of friends but i don't really know if they r my friend, sometimes they talk behind my back and they leave me out. and my brother isn't making it any better he tells his friends storys about me, bad ones! i have red hair and bigger ears then most people, and they r always yelling at me about it, no i really want a boyfriend but it is hard when no boys like u!! wat do i do! i can't take this anymore!!

I am glad that you love yourself. I would confront your friends who talk behind your back and tell them you don't appreciate it. I would isolate yourself from those people as well and hang out with other friends...surround yourself by people who make you happy! Talk to your brother and tell him that you don't like what he is telling his friends. If he doesn't stop, let your mom know. As for wanting a boyfriend, don't fret. Be yourself, have fun and talk to boys you are friends with. The right guy will come along when you least expect it Smile

I'm plan to post the next fanfic chapter of a story online. I made a promise to someone that I would add this one part in it and asked the person if it was okay, since it was in one of their stories. The person didn't respond for a whole week and it is really vexing. I took the part out because it didn't really make sense at that time I piut in the story. I don't want to make her angry and let her down. Plus, she is super supportive. I don't want to anger my readers by not posting the chapter. But, I have no idea what to do! HELP!!




Hey girl, I'd just post the chapter without the other person's part. Remember, using other people's words and ideas is plagiarism. Your readers deserve better.

I don't fit in too. To be honest, I do think people laugh behind my back andin my face. I know this sounds cliche, but just be yourself, otherwise it'll blow up in your face. But don't something stupid like pretending to be a prep or something. I'm weird, random, and freak. I'm proud to be what I am!
