Snow - An original poem

Snow

I thought it was snow as it rained from the sky,
Drifting down with angelic grace,
Settling around the yard like a death shroud
As I ran out with expectations too high.

I opened my arms to the heavens,
But I was met with fierce heat,
I was met with choking smoke.
And I thought it was snow.

I thought it was a miracle and I was so happy.
I didn’t remember snow is impossible here;
Here there is only fire and ash.
But it was just so funny…

I thought it was snow.
