3 at-home exercises for totally toned legs

Summer is finally here, and the prospect of sporting bikinis and micro-shorts has us all heading to the gym or exercising outside. Now is a great time to try some of these super-effective workout out moves that will tone your gams in no time!
 
Squats: You’ll see results right away after completing a few reps of this fat-burning routine. Grab two 8-pound dumbbells and position your feet hip-width distance apart. Holding the weights at chest height, squat into a sitting position, making sure to keep your back straight and reach your butt back as far as you can (as if you’re sitting in a chair). The deeper you squat, the better! Squat and straighten legs to complete one rep. Do 10 reps of squats three times, at least three days a week, but be sure to listen to your body: this exercise can be tough on your hamstrings. 
 
Lunges: For this fab exercise you’ll need a ton of space to spread out. While holding the same 8-pound dumbbells at chest height, take 15 long strides, lowering your back knee to the ground with each step, alternating legs. Try to elongate your legs as much as possible and really lean into your hips if you want to tone those legs! Make sure that your front knee doesn’t bend over your toe. Keep your front thigh parallel to the ground. 
 
Stair Stepping: This super-easy drill will get your heart pumpin’. If you have a raised platform that would be helpful, but using a flight of stairs or even a single step would work just as well. Plant one foot on the step and using the strength from that leg, hoist your opposite leg up and, with your knee bent, kick that leg to chest height. Complete 10 reps with the same leg, and then switch. If you want to add a little extra oomph, grab some weights to hold while completing this session. This is a great calorie burner, too.

I don't know what part of your body this will help, but how about playing "horse show" with your 3rd and 4th grade friends? Jumping and dressage included! My legs still hurt from trotting around this morning! That's gotta burn some calories! ;D

mod mod mod-i want to do dese workouts but like i dont have weights or anything else -i could do da 3rd exercise but dats only one exercise i want a few more just for more efficient effect(i mean i dont think 1 excercise should be enough especially when u dont have weights to go wit it)so do u think u got like thigh workouts witout weights? and could u tell how fast i might see results if i do dis daily?

MOD Thank you very much, Brittany G. I did very well on my 10K. It took me about 55 minutes to complete, and I'm very happy about that. You're right, I shouldn't have been worrying that much about my race...I did fine. Smile

I'm sooo scared! I had soo much to eat today; a bowl of cereal, a bowl of chex mix, a fiber one bar, a huge snickerdoodle cookie, a really big (900 calorie!) bowl of mac and cheese, and a chocolate cake batter ice cream with reeses in it!!! I didn't exercise at all today. I usually wouldn't worry this much about it, but I am running a 10K tomorrow, and it really means a lot to me to do well in it. What are some things i can do RIGHT NOW to make my day less bad?




Hey girlie, first and foremost, you should not stress this much over your weight. As long as your doctor says you are healthy, you are fine. Have a piece of fruit and take a deep breath Smile

MOD MOD MOD. Ur workouts are really great and are fun but i can't seem to find a way to stick to my workouts. I am to scared to ask my friends to do it with me. What is a way to stick to doing my routines? PLz make it fun and not boring!!!! Luv ya

 

 

Hey chica! Why not make a calendar chart, on a posterboard? Then, you can put a start sticker for each day that you do your workout. Once you do it for so many days in a row, or so many weeks of doing it, you can reward yourself with something. Like, for example, if you workout 4 days a week for an entire month, you can get a new pair of jeans or something Smile

Mod Mod Mod!!!!! I feel like I have fat thighs because they are bigger than my friends. My mom says that a lot of it is muscle because I do gymnastics but I also have fat mostly everyone does. How can I lose the fat on my thighs without getting bigger muscles?

 

 

Hey chica! I've heard that pilates is a great exercise to get a long, lean body. Try a DVD, or a class at a local gym! Smile

Hey girl. It sounds like you need to tell K how you're feeling. It isn't fair to yourself or to K to continue this relationship. If you don't like him, you shouldn't continue leading him on cause it will only get worse as the relationship progresses. In the end, you'll be very glad you decided to be honest with each other.

first, thx for being great n answering this. second, i know how to build up some muscle, but i need to get some GREAT cardio workouts to get rid of the excess fat on my stomach arms and thighs that i dont need. my calves are like 2% fat from running in pe, but i need something in addition to that. school is getting out on may 25th, so i need something that i can start like right now so i will stick to it. thanks!

Hey girl, you totally are hot just as you are. It's all about presentation. Love yourself the way you are and that confidence will shine. As for the guys, just ignore them. They won't bother you when they see what they say doesn't affect you at all.

hey, I've been trying this new abs and stomach workout i found on the web cuz i need to drop a few pounds b4 my school trip to DC, and it has been doing great on hte muscles inside, but it hasn't eliminated barely any of my actual body fat Frown does anyone know any quick workouts or tips or anything to help me get a bit fitter in the next two weeks?? thnx!

So in lacrosse we do dynamic stretching everyday. I love it, but lungess hurt my knees sooo badly. Its not like a
'feel the burn' pain, but my kneecaps crack and my miniscus just aches. Its really painful...whats wrong with me?

I don't really have a gym that I like and don't want to go to my swim/tennis place, and don't want to try the YMCA (I have WAY too many memberships to places already). Guess I will just have to run outside haha.

Take the stairs more than once. When you’re at home, run up and down the stairs three or four times before heading to your room. It’s a sneaky way to stay active.
