My best friend and I go to the same camp, and I like a guy who acts more interested in my BFF. She knows I like him, but she doesn’t seem to care about my feelings. How do I know when my friend has crossed the line?

Dear Confused at Camp,
A girl should never hit on her best friend’s boyfriend or go for a BFF’s ex right after a breakup. But when it comes to crushes, the lines are less clear. Are you truly upset with your friend—or are you upset with him for not noticing you or maybe even with yourself for feeling jealous? Think about it—would it really make sense for your friend to ignore a guy she seems to be clicking with just because you like him, too? Even if she were to completely shun him, it won’t ensure that you and he will ever get together.

My advice is to reach out to other campers. Meanwhile, you could admit to your friend that you’re envious but that you wish her luck. Camp will end—don’t let the friendship.

Me and my sister were really tight last year. She was really shy and only had like 1 good friend. Now this year she has started hanging out with my BFF. I can never hang out with my BFF alone just like it was before. On top of all of that, they have gone completely boy-crazy!! Myy sister has started hanging out with this one guy. He likes her and she likes him. My BFF always talks about the people that ask her out. it gets annoying bc everyone in our group of friends has had someone that asked them out. I feel left out... any advice?? Please

Hey girl! I know it's hard to feel left out, but you should look at this friendship as something wonderful! Your sister, your BFF and you can all be super close.  You don't have to be boy-crazy though and you can even tell them that they should calm down. Everyone goes through that boy-crazy stage, it's perfectly normal. Don't worry, I'm sure they will calm down eventually. As for your boy problems. You don't need to feel ashamed for never being asked out. In fact, if there is a guy you like, you can ask him out! Or maybe your BFFs can help, if they're so boy crazy maybe they can set you up with someone. You don't need to go out with a guy just because everyone else is. If you're ready and you think you want a bf, don't be afraid to ask him, or afraid to ask for help from your BFF and your sister, that's what they're there for, to help you. Good luck babe!

MOD,
Earlier I was with one of my friends and I shared how I disliked a certain person and all of a sudden the girl I was with turns to me and she said, oh but she is my best friend! Now I am really worried that she is going to go and tell that girl what I said or even tell her family. I know I probably shouldn't have said anything but what do I do now?

Hey girlie,

You're right - you've learned your lesson to keep quiet about gossip or any bad feelings, so try to look at this in a positive way. You won't make that mistake again! As for this particular situation, try giving that friend a call and apologizing for the stuff you said about her bestie. Tell her you realize it was in really poor taste and you're embarrassed by it - you wouldn't want it getting back to the other girl because she really doesn't deserve it. Then, try to put this whole thing in the past Smile

MOD MOD MOD I invite my BFFL with me everywhere I go, and she ALWAYS comes, she even spent Memorial Day weekend with my family and I in Wisconsin Dells! Today, my neighbor was Facebook chatting her and she told her that she was going to a waterpark and she was inviting her friend, and when m neighbor asked which friend, it WASN'T me! I know that may sound a little ignorant but I feel kind of bad that I invite her everywhere and she rarely ever invites me anywhere. She didn't invite me to her birthday party because her friend from Ballet didn't want any of her school friends over. My mom said she;s not really being a true friend, should I have a talk with her? Please help! Jordan

Hey chica! It sounds like your mom is right. That's not very BFF-like on her part. I'd def have a talk with her and let her know how you feel!

MOD
Ok, so I'm kind of having problems with my friend. Whenever I say I'm going to go for a guy, she says: Oh, he'll never say yes. Also, she's been extremely moody and kind of mean to my friends and I. Our parents say she's going through "hard times" but nothing's really going on. Even if there is, there's no right for her to be rude, and she's been saying mean things about us behind our backs. What should I do?

hey girl,

sometimes people have reasons they are not revealing that cause them to act mean--they definitely shouldn't, but many times ppl don't know how to deal with things.  I would suggest talking to her...let her know it hurts your feelings and it's hurting others too...and ask her if there's really something wrong that she's afraid to talk about.  If she's a good friend she should be considerate and listen and try to change...so hang in there and be there for her!
