My world is falling apart

Check these out, too...

  • The Real Deal: Why guys hate shopping
I think I'm suicidal...my world is just falling apart.  I have one friend who I can really count on, but no one else. Please try to save me from myself.

Hold on, babe. I know it’s trite, but things really do get better. If you need to talk to anyone about anything at all, you can anonymously call a number of different toll-free hotlines: Try 800-SUICIDE of 1-800-273-TALK for the National Suicide Hotline and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, respectively.

Reach out to your friend
Your friend loves you and doesn’t want to lose you. I’d bet she’d do anything she could to help you through this difficult time. If you have not yet leaned on her and told her how you’re feeling, do so now. Remember, even if you think everyone else is against you, you still have this one lifeline…and countless others who would hate to see you in pain. Stay connected to them and know that they need you just as much as you need them.

Ask for help
If you think you can’t trust your parents, or that they won’t help, it’s time to find an adult who can. I know it hurts and it’s hard to trust people you don’t know terribly well, but now’s the time to find faith. Speak to a close family member, a teacher, a guidance counselor, a member of your church or youth group, a coach, even your best friend’s parents. No one wants to see you hurt yourself, so let them help you get the professional help you need.

You’re not alone
Whatever you’re going through, remember that you are never without a support system. Even if you feel like no one cares, somebody is always there watching out for you. Maybe it’s your English teacher who has noticed that you’ve been quiet in class lately, your soccer coach who thinks you look a bit down. Talk to them. They want to help. Even here on girlslife.com, you can find girls whose (virtual) shoulders are there to cry on.

Find a happy place
In the meantime, try to do the things you once loved, whether that’s running through sprinklers or scribbling in your notebook. Throw yourself into activities that will distract you from what’s going on at home or at school. Excelling in something, no matter what that something is, will bring you immeasurable confidence and self-worth.

Remember, babe: We’re right here with you.

MOD MOD MOD
so i went to the doctors today and my doctor asked me a bunch of questions and then she said that i should go to a counciler because im sad all the time. i really really really don't want to go to a counciler. honestly just thinking about going to a counciler makes me feel even worse. plus i don't feel sad ALL the time. it only happens every once and a while. so what if i'm not sad when i go to the counciler? i don't know what to say to her/him if i'm not sad. do you think it's ok if i just not go see the counciler???

Hey girlie, go and see what happens. They want to try to help and make sure you feel good all the time, not just sometimes. Think of this as a positive thing that will help you long term.

MOD MOD MOD! so around the end of may, i noticed cuts on my friends arm. they looked like the cuts from people who self harms themselves. i am really worried about her and dont know what to do. I talked to my mom about it and she doesnt know what to do either, i cant talk to the school counselor because school isnt in session anymore. this is really important to me because my sister has been cutting for about two years now and we just got her help. please, if you realize how important this is to me, you will give me advice.

Hey girl,

If you're not sure who to talk to, try going to your friend herself and tell her you've noticed her arms. Don't make it about the injuries though (about how it's dangerous, how it'll hurt her, how it's bad, etc.). Instead, make it about her - how you value her as a friend, you're there to support her, you love her, all of the qualities you love about her. Tell her you're here to listen without judging and tell her you really hope she'll open up to tell you what's wrong. But, since mom knows now, you'll really need to talk about this to make sure it doesn't happen again. Can your mom call your friend's mom or dad? Can you catch them when they aren't busy to tell them yourself? Does she have an older sibling? Could you call your high school and tell the secretary about your problem so she can get in touch with the counselor(s), even though it's summertime? You need to tell somebody so you aren't dealing with this alone!

MOD MOD MOD
I think I may have a personality disorder or may have depression. Im not going to commit suicide or do drug abuse or doing something that will risk my cuz I actually want to keep living ya know. Im seriously scared and convinced that there may be something wrong with me. My mom even asked why I seem so upset lately. I tried telling my parents one night that I think I have a passive-aggressive personality disorder(that's the disorder I thought I had but now Im not so sure which one I have) but they said there's nothing wrong with me and I shouldn't worry. I know they were just trying to make me feel better and think that Im fine, but it kind of made me feel sad that they didn't actually take this seriously. What can I do? Plz help!

Try talking to another trusted adult about how you feel, or even your doctor, as each of these people can help.
