Our big end-of-the-school-year talent show is coming up. I signed up, but I might chicken out. What should I tell myself so I don’t go onstage and puke?


Dear Stagefright,
I remember how sc-sc-sc-scared I was as a guest on The Today Show. But instead of thinking, “What if I mess up?” I kept telling myself, “How cool is this? I worked hard for this opportunity!” So that is my advice. Look at your moment in the spotlight as a wonderful, well-earned honor, no a reason to barf. Turn your natural nervousness into healthy excitement. It feels good to share your talents with people. Keep practicing, then get out there and shine. Imagine how great it will feel when you take your bow.

Okay this is going to sound horrible but all the teachers at school like me and I'm tired of it! I mean I appreciate that they like me because I know I'm responsible and respectful and do my work but it makes me look like a brown noser!!! I really want the teachers to like me but I'm afraid of what other students think!! Plz help!!!!!




As long as you don't advantage of the fact that they like you (i.e. always volunteering, etc.) you should be fine. Let others know they have a fair chance Smile

MOD MOD MOD!
I want to be a famous singer, you know, get discovered. I'm really good at singing (for my age of 10).One day I went on Youtube and saw America's Got Talent Auditions. I asked my dad if I could audition. He said I wasnt ready yet! Then I started to think that he feared I'd give up if I got rejected, since a lot of people on the show got rejected. But I'm not scared.. is he trying to hold me back from my dream? Or is that just a parent thing?

Hey babe! It sounds like just a parent thing, you know, trying to protect you. Just practice harder and sing all the time. Maybe next year you can audition. I'm sure that once you're ready your dad will be supportive and behind you 100%. Good luck! xoxo

Although you may be feeling really nervous about going to a bigger school, I'm sure that everything will work out fine. You might not be as close to your whole class but think of all the new friends you will have the chance to meet because of the big number of kids in the school. Just try to relax and think of all the good things that will come out of your new school. You will probably get more chances to try different activities because of the bigger number. You will also get to know a whole bunch of different people. New might be scary, but it will all become less new eventually and you will feel comfortable after some time. Good Luck!

I got into AP pre-algebra and I have to maintain at least a B-. How am I supposed to be able to handle this. If I don't keep my average I'll be put in normal math and that would be really embarrassing too stupid for my math class.

Nope, you should be fine! Your profile is probably in our system to be checked before it's approved. Our mods go through each person's profile EVERY time a change is made, which can get to be a lot of work! Just try to be patient and it'll be visible soon Smile Welcome to GL!

I have this dance class at my school, and i asked the instructor if i could be a dance assistant toher, instead of taking the class because it was becoming too easy. she said mayb, and asked me if i was looking to get paid in community service hours because that was what previous assistants were paid in, but i wanted to get paid in cash. are dance assistants that are in high school teaching younger kids suppose to get paid in community service hours? How can i suggest 2 her i want 2 get paid in cash, without it being awkward or rude or selfish?

The gentlest way would be to ask if it could be a paid position. Suggest that you are looking to make a little extra money. This doesn't sound rude, awkward, or selfish! You're just looking out for yourself! She may have asked you that because many schools have a community service requirement.

I freak out every band concert and before it, trust me, you do fine. i have a look like im scared to death because i dont wanna mess up.In the end i do fine, the worse ive done at a concert is wave 2 a friend before i played, then i rememberd we dont do that. you will do fine. Casey L.

I'd puke, but I have to get over that really soon.
In the begginging of August, I have to perform a speech I wrote myself in front of 300 people. I'm going to get SOOO nervous before too. To make it better I have to stand out in the heat for about 2 hours before I perform.
