Partner up for a fab ab workout

Wishing for some rock-hard abs for bikini season? These exercises will help you and your BFF get toned in no time.
 
What You’ll Need:
- a partner
- 2 medicine balls (start with 10 or 15 pounds)
- 2 exercise mats
 
Sit-up Toss
Lay on your mat with you knees bent and your back flat on the ground. Have you partner sit opposite you, toes touching. Using one medicine ball, lean back and extend your arms (keep them nice ‘n’ straight!) and perform a sit-up. Once you reach an upright position, toss the ball to your bud (who should also be sitting). Have her do the same thing and repeat 20 times.
 
Medicine Ball Twist
Sit opposite your partner with your toes touching and knees bent. Lift your feet 6 inches off the ground, making sure to keep your core tight. With one medicine ball twist your torso to touch the right side, and then the left. When you get back to center, quickly toss the ball to your partner and have her do the same. Do 10 reps to feel the burn.
 
Partner Twists
Stand back-to-back with your partner. Start with the medicine ball in both of your hands. Twist from your core and pass the ball to your partner. She should twist around the to the other side and pass it back to you. Continue for one minute.
 
Crunch Up
If you can’t find a partner, this is an exercise you can do by yourself. Grab a medicine ball and with your knees bent lift your arms above your head. Lay back and perform a crunch, reaching the medicine ball straight up as high into the air as possible. Do 25 reps and you’ll be on your way to amazing abs.

I am going to start running and doing step aerobics. Does that tone anything other than legs?

 

Hey babe! Running is great exercise for your entire body and step aerobics will help your entire lower half.  These forms of cardio are such healthy options for your body and mind.  If your goal is to shed some pounds, those exercises will definitely help.  If you just want to be more toned or muscular, they're great for that too. Running and step aerobics won't do much or your upper body, so you can always add some free weight exercises to the mix if you want a toned upper body as well.  Good luck!

Does running and step aerobics only tone legs? Or does it tone other things too? I am going to start running almost everyday to train for cross country next school year. I also need to get in shape. So what are the perks of running?

 

Hey babe! Running, and cardio in general, helps your entire body.  It's good for your muscles and your heart. It's proven to slow aging and lower your blood pressure. Not that you have to worry about that right now, but it's great to start at a young age! Step aerobics will tone your entire bottom half.  You can add other cardio exercises too, like yoga.  All of these will help you get in shape.  They can also make you happy! Exercising releases a hormone called endorphins, and endorphins make you happy! Not only will your body be in better shape, but your mind will be too.  Good luck with your new regiment!

Hey girl, I'd suggest talking to a doc about that. You've definitely got the right idea, but for losing weight if you need to, it's important you talk to a doctor and make a plan that's right with your health history.

so i have 3 questions.
1. next week i have to go to the doc (for just a physical) and get 2 shots and 2 small warts frozen off. im sooo scared!!! what should i do??
2. i am always soooo health conscious! like for example i have this bump thing on my foot. u cant really see it when u can look at my foot (its skin color, with just a white dot in the middle) but i can feel it. my mom said its probly just like a wart or something... but what if its something really bad? 3. every time i go to the doctor i am soo scared she will say "u have cancer" or something else bad. even when i feel fine!! i'm just scared




 Hey girl!

    1. You have no reason to be scared! Doctors know exactly what they're doing, and whatever they're doing is necessary and in your best interests. Everyone has to go to the doctor, so just go with a positive attitude and you'll be fine. 2. When you go to the doctor, have him or her take a look at it, just in case. 3. Think positive thoughts and you will not be scared anymore. The doctor is nothing to be afraid of!

Hi! (: So is it healthy to not eat dinner if you had a huge snack earlier? Like for instance, when i got home from school (around 3), i ate a bowl of ice cream, a big bowl of cereal, and a protein bar. I feel like i ate a ton, and so i don't want to eat dinner. is that healthy?

 

Hey girl,

It's probably a good idea to still eat a little bit. Although studies say we should eat big breakfasts and lunches and a small-ish dinner, snacks should be small and balanced as well. If you do eat a big snack, don't avoid dinner completely. Eat a small salad, some fruit, and a soup or something like that.

Take the stairs more than once. When you’re at home, run up and down the stairs three or four times before heading to your room. It’s a sneaky way to stay active.
