Don’t freak if you haven’t found
anything for your old man. Here are some creative Father’s Day
gifts to show Dad the love. is right around the corner! Have you
gotten your dad a gift? If not, don’t worry girlies. Here are some
great ideas that are DIY, DIWYD (Do It With Your Dad), or HYMO (Have
Your Mom Order) that will show your old man who just how much you
care.
A personalized piggy
Is there something your dad is always
dreaming about, but can never find the time or moolah to make it
happen? Get a colored ceramic jar or piggy bank from a crafts store,
or head over to a ceramic or pottery painting studio. Using his
favorite colors, paint something that says, “Boat Fund,” if he
has always wanted a boat, or “Alaska Fund” if he has always
wanted to travel to Alaska. Throw some spare change in it and wrap
it as the perfect Father’s Day gift. It will show him that you have
been listening and appreciate his goals.
Build a birdhouse
If your dad is handy he is probably
able to do this from spare wood that is lying around your shed or
garage. Head over to a craft or hardware store to get a
birdhouse-making kit that you two can build together. The best part
is spending some quality time with your pop! He’ll enjoy it just as
much as you do.
Create custom faves
Using regular printer paper or
self-adhesive paper you can label a few of your dad’s fave
foods….or make a new “brand” of cookies or BBQ sauce for him.
You can draw or find pictures that say things like, “World’s Best
Dad,” “Only The Best for the Best,” or “No. 1 Dad.” Pick up
his favorite candy or cookies you made and put ’em in a see-through
bag. He’ll appreciate the new design on his old favorites.
New trick for an old tie
Don’t give your dad another boring
tie this Father’s Day. Instead make your Pops a sunglasses case
that he can tote around everywhere. Buy a tie from Goodwill.
Beginning at the widest part, measure 16 inches, and cut. Slip waxed
paper through the wide opening in the tie. Glue along the edges,
except the triangle. Fold the tie in half (Hamburger style) the
thinner end with the wider end until only the triangle at the wide
end is left. Fold the thinner end inside the wide end. Place some
Velcro at the tip of the triangle and the other half of the Velcro
where the triangle will fold over. This is the opening of his
prezzie. Fab, right?
